So in this world, being a witch/wizard doesn't guarantee that your kids will also have magic. And there are cases of Muggle born families having a random witch or wizard in the family. These families are reached out to when their kid starts showing magical ability so that they can explain the magic world to them. If im not mistaken there are theories that Hermione has magic users in her family lineage and it just skipped generations until it manifested in her. That's why Mr. Filch ( walder frey) seems so bitter, he is a squib. A person born into a wizard family but they themselves don't have magic. So he can see magical things but he can't use magic himself

Because of how he grew up, it's just not his first instinct to go to authority figures when something's going wrong. The reason Hermione has magic when her parents don’t is because being a wizard/witch is essentially a gene. Somewhere in Hermione’s bloodline, one of her parents ancestors was with a witch/wizard. That’s why there’s so many muggle borns at Hogwarts. It also explain how Harry’s mom (Lily) has magic but her terrible sister Petunia (Harry’s aunt who he lives with) doesn’t have magic

And then the wizard gene resurfaces generations later which creates muggleborns.

draco has and always will be my favorite character, alongside harry and ron. he is a misunderstood bully who has never known anything other than what his father has taught him in his upbringing. you really begin to empathize with him going forward in this series, especially in harry potter and the half-blood prince (the sixth film). i love how complex his character is and most people only hate him because he is rude and holds prejudice against people without thinking logically about who he has grown up around, he hasn’t learned any better. i’m super excited for you to watch these characters grow in this series, especially when the films begin getting darker and darker and more adult-like. many characters are left making choices they don’t want to make and i’m super excited to see your reactions. these films have had my heart since i was young and continue to today.

I'm not gonna lie....when I first saw the basilisk in this movie, I had the same reaction Ron had with Aragog. (side note: I am NOT fearful of snakes or spiders). Also, every time I hear Hermione say "She's a little sensitive" to describe Moaning Myrtle, I always have the same first thought: A LITTLE sensitive?" Side note: Hedwig is a snowy owl. They have white feathers with black spots that act as camouflage when they're hunting, their wing feathers are ruffled to muffle their wing flaps so prey animals don't hear them coming (like all owls, really) and they're the only birds in the world whose feet aren't bare, due to their habitat being snowy areas, like the Arctic Tundra.

When my sister and I got the vax, we both got pfizer. When we got the booster, she got pfizer again and I got moderna. House elves are basically slaves of the wizarding world. They're owned, often by wealthy, pureblood families. They face extreme injustice and are treated terribly. Hence why Dobby is so shocked he starts crying when Harry offer him to sit down and why he started banging his head against the wardrobe when he spoke ill of the family he serves. Also, all house elves speak in third person, it's just a thing they do. Personally, I believe its because house elves have had a history of slavery for so long that they have no autonomy so they don't use words like "I" and "me" because that indicated self-determination, which they've never had. The kitchens in Hogwarts are run by house elves. They make all the food at every meal. Some wizards and witches are muggleborns, meaning both parents are don't have magic. The lore behind is isn't totally clear, but in the wizarding world, children tend to show signs of magical abilities around the ages of 5 and 5. Typically these are children from wizarding families, but sometimes that magical sign shows up in kids with muggle parents. Harry's mum, Lily was a muggleborn. The inverse also happens, where sometimes children from wizarding families show no signs of having any magic. These people are called squibs. Filch is a squib. It's never explicitly said, but if you didn't catch on, mudblood is the equivalent of a slur for being muggleborn because they're "tainting" the pure wizarding blood with their "dirty" muggle blood. If you rewatch the movie and pay attention to the scene in the bookshop where the Malfoys are talking with Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermoine, Lucius Malfoy (Draco's dad) takes Ginny's one (1) book out of her cauldron, but when he puts it back, there are two books. Hey Miya here's a little guide for you on magical blood "purity". There are 4 main blood types in the wizarding world. 1) Pure Blood Pure Bloods are magical people whose ancestors have "always" been magical and never made their blood line "dirty" with Muggles/Muggle borns/Half Bloods. Notable Pure Blood families at this point of the story are the Malfoys, the Weasleys and the Potters (before Harry was born) Pure Blood+Pure Blood=Pure Blood 2) Half Blood Half Bloods are those who had not just Pure Bloods in their heritage. They were born by: Pure Blood+Muggle Pure Blood+Muggleborn Pure Blood+Half Blood Half Blood+Muggle Half Blood+Muggleborn Half Blood+Half Blood Muggleborn+Muggle Muggleborn+Muggleborn Like Harry and basically most of the wizarding world. 3)Muggleborn Muggleborns have the ability to manipulate magic and have no magical parents at all. They can be born either because the gene that lets them manipulate magic was dormant in the last few generations, or because their genes have only now mutated to be able to use magic. Hermione's Muggleborn as we know and, as far as I know, she had a dormant magical gene. Muggle+Muggle=Muggleborn 4) Muggles. Basic humans without magical abilities. 4b) Additionally there are Squibs people who have one or two magical parents but can't manipulate themselves. Mr. Filch (Walder Frey) is a Squib. Unlike Muggles, they can see ghosts and other magical creatures Muggles can't. Charms that repell Muggles also don't work on them, which is the reason why Mr. Filch can see Hogwarts. Love Dobby so much always have even in the books. The books have more of him though because he works at the kitchen in Hogwarts after Harry frees him. They get darker from the third move and also more adult as well so just a heads up. Any way my favorite movie is the third one but I also like the last two as well. The show down between Harry and Lucious at the end was actual adibbed by both the actors it wasn't in the script at all. Also hitting Dobby was the actor of Lucious's idea and when he did it out of the blue they all looked at him funny until he explianed his idea behind it and so they added it to the movie. Don't worry you will meet Voldamort himself soon enough haha. also you can get Harry Potter merch online just some of the things can be expensive. First of all - I love Alan Rickmans Snape *sigh* wait - I love Alan Rickman - full stop. the theory about wizards who come from non magical parents has two approaches. A) gene mutation (so like anything else that changes ) that 's what seemed to have happened to the first magical people. B) Squibs (children born to magical parents) who have no magic themselves - like Argus Filch (the caretaker/Walder Frey). They do not have magic and can not go to Higwarts. SO a lot of magical families tended to sdopt tem out into the muggle world. And so some think that the magical gene is recessive. it can lay dormant for a long time/generations. And then in some child who seem to come from "non magical" parents it's there once again. Personally I think this is a very good and credibale theory. Especially Pure Blood families (like the Malfoys) would be ashamed to produce a on magical child. Although especially the Pure Blood families tend to produce "weake" children. This comes up in later films - there are what is called "the sacred 28" which are families that claim to only ever marry into other prue blood families. And with only 28 thsoe family are highly related. Like Malfoys mom is a cousin of Rons dad (if I am correct it's once removed or so). As with inbreeding (look at ancient egypt and the pharaos) that may change things with the gene pool. Lockhard (do not get me wrong Keneth Branagh is great) - is 28 in the boooks (but then Snaoe is only 32 in this book, also or maybe 33) and he has apparently already done a lot of thigswith what the ministry would call "dark creatures" ( I haveanotheridea as to why Dumbledore hired him) but they needed a DaDA teacher and he was willing to "teach" the kids how great he was.
The thing about the Harry Potter books is that the author, JK Rowling originally wrote the series for adults. It was the book publishers that decided to advertise it as children's books. If you read between the lines of the story you will see it is a satire. First, one has to understand that you the reader are looking at the story through Harry Potter's point of view as he grows up throughout the years at Hogwarts. In the first book and movie Harry is 11 years old so you see his world from his 11 year old mindset and maturity. But as he grows up and begins to understand things more and more the story gets darker and less innocent as he matures with age. The reason I call the books a satire is that many of the stories deals with racism of a different kind and political corruption. Dobby might be a house elf but nevertheless he is a slave just the same. There might not be any racism in the wizarding world against people of color but there is racism against wizards who do not come from pure magical families. Harry doesn't see the horrible similarities between the wizarding world and the muggle world at this point because he is only 12 years old during The Chamber of Secrets. To a certain extent he is still an innocent little boy and is not mature enough to comprehend it all to the fullest extent. 🏰🧙♂️🧙🏻♀️🧒🪄⚡️📚📽🎞🖤

House elves can’t do ANYTHING without their master’s say so. Dobby staking out Harry’s house and subsequently revealing himself goes against JK’s own lore but you’ll learn that she does that quite a lot. Like, house elves cannot take it upon themselves to act against their masters. It isn’t much in the movies but in the books, especially book 4, it is explored more. It’s such a glaring plot hole.

Tom Marvolo Riddle was Voldemort's name when he was a student in Hogwarts, in fact, his full name, as you have seen, is an anagram of I am Lord Voldemort. When he was 16 he discovered that he was the heir of Slytherin and also discovered where the Chamber of Secrets was, so he opened it and the basilisk killed Myrtle.
I'm not gonna lie....when I first saw the basilisk in this movie, I had the same reaction Ron had with Aragog. (side note: I am NOT fearful of snakes or spiders). Also, every time I hear Hermione say "She's a little sensitive" to describe Moaning Myrtle, I always have the same first thought: A LITTLE sensitive?"
Side note: Hedwig is a snowy owl. They have white feathers with black spots that act as camouflage when they're hunting, their wing feathers are ruffled to muffle their wing flaps so prey animals don't hear them coming (like all owls, really) and they're the only birds in the world whose feet aren't bare, due to their habitat being snowy areas, like the Arctic Tundra.

When my sister and I got the vax, we both got pfizer. When we got the booster, she got pfizer again and I got moderna. She was finally reading HP for the first time over the indoor-times and I jokingly remarked "oh, so you're a pureblood." She laughed and said, "I guess that makes you a mudblood!" From then on, whenever we talked about vaccines or plague related stuff, she'd call me mudblood and do impressions of Lucius Malfoy about her superior "pureblood status." Lol.

House elves are basically slaves of the wizarding world. They're owned, often by wealthy, pureblood families. They face extreme injustice and are treated terribly. Hence why Dobby is so shocked he starts crying when Harry offer him to sit down and why he started banging his head against the wardrobe when he spoke ill of the family he serves.
Also, all house elves speak in third person, it's just a thing they do. Personally, I believe its because house elves have had a history of slavery for so long that they have no autonomy so they don't use words like "I" and "me" because that indicated self-determination, which they've never had.
The kitchens in Hogwarts are run by house elves. They make all the food at every meal.
Some wizards and witches are muggleborns, meaning both parents are don't have magic.
The lore behind is isn't totally clear, but in the wizarding world, children tend to show signs of magical abilities around the ages of 5 and 5. Typically these are children from wizarding families, but sometimes that magical sign shows up in kids with muggle parents. Harry's mum, Lily was a muggleborn.
The inverse also happens, where sometimes children from wizarding families show no signs of having any magic. These people are called squibs. Filch is a squib.
It's never explicitly said, but if you didn't catch on, mudblood is the equivalent of a slur for being muggleborn because they're "tainting" the pure wizarding blood with their "dirty" muggle blood.
If you rewatch the movie and pay attention to the scene in the bookshop where the Malfoys are talking with Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermoine, Lucius Malfoy (Draco's dad) takes Ginny's one (1) book out of her cauldron, but when he puts it back, there are two books. One of them being the diary. So he's responsible for sneaking in Tom Riddle/Voldemort's diary into her things.

Hey Miya here's a little guide for you on magical blood "purity".
There are 4 main blood types in the wizarding world.
1) Pure Blood
Pure Bloods are magical people whose ancestors have "always" been magical and never made their blood line "dirty" with Muggles/Muggle borns/Half Bloods. Notable Pure Blood families at this point of the story are the Malfoys, the Weasleys and the Potters (before Harry was born)
Pure Blood+Pure Blood=Pure Blood
2) Half Blood
Half Bloods are those who had not just Pure Bloods in their heritage. They were born by:
Pure Blood+Muggle
Pure Blood+Muggleborn
Pure Blood+Half Blood
Half Blood+Muggle
Half Blood+Muggleborn
Half Blood+Half Blood
Muggleborn+Muggle
Muggleborn+Muggleborn
Like Harry and basically most of the wizarding world.
3)Muggleborn
Muggleborns have the ability to manipulate magic and have no magical parents at all. They can be born either because the gene that lets them manipulate magic was dormant in the last few generations, or because their genes have only now mutated to be able to use magic. Hermione's Muggleborn as we know and, as far as I know, she had a dormant magical gene.
Muggle+Muggle=Muggleborn
4) Muggles. Basic humans without magical abilities.
4b) Additionally there are Squibs people who have one or two magical parents but can't manipulate themselves. Mr. Filch (Walder Frey) is a Squib.
Unlike Muggles, they can see ghosts and other magical creatures Muggles can't. Charms that repell Muggles also don't work on them, which is the reason why Mr. Filch can see Hogwarts.

The line that Lucius Malfoy says “let’s hope that Harry Potter will always be around to save the day” was an ad. Lib line that Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) didn’t know about. So Harry‘s response of “don’t worry I will be” was also adlibbed by Daniel, a 13 year old actor. Impressive!
fun fact, the part where Draco says i didn´t know you could read is actually improvised because the actor forgot his actual line.
Love Dobby so much always have even in the books. The books have more of him though because he works at the kitchen in Hogwarts after Harry frees him. They get darker from the third move and also more adult as well so just a heads up. Any way my favorite movie is the third one but I also like the last two as well. The show down between Harry and Lucious at the end was actual adibbed by both the actors it wasn't in the script at all. Also hitting Dobby was the actor of Lucious's idea and when he did it out of the blue they all looked at him funny until he explianed his idea behind it and so they added it to the movie. Don't worry you will meet Voldamort himself soon enough haha. also you can get Harry Potter merch online just some of the things can be expensive. Glad you are liking the movies so far and grate reaction.
I don’t know why they don’t explain this in the movies, but Harry has to stay with his crappy Aunt and Uncle. It’s a part of his mother’s protection. Voldemort and his henchmen can’t touch him as long as he stays with family.

the theory about wizards who come from non magical parents has two approaches.
A) gene mutation (so like anything else that changes )
that 's what seemed to have happened to the first magical people.
B) Squibs (children born to magical parents) who have no magic themselves - like Argus Filch (the caretaker/Walder Frey). They do not have magic and can not go to Higwarts. SO a lot of magical families tended to sdopt tem out into the muggle world. And so some think that the magical gene is recessive. it can lay dormant for a long time/generations. And then in some child who seem to come from "non magical" parents it's there once again.
Personally I think this is a very good and credibale theory.
Especially Pure Blood families (like the Malfoys) would be ashamed to produce a on magical child.
Although especially the Pure Blood families tend to produce "weake" children.
This comes up in later films - there are what is called "the sacred 28" which are families that claim to only ever marry into other prue blood families.
And with only 28 thsoe family are highly related. Like Malfoys mom is a cousin of Rons dad (if I am correct it's once removed or so).
As with inbreeding (look at ancient egypt and the pharaos) that may change things with the gene pool.
Lockhard (do not get me wrong Keneth Branagh is great) - is 28 in the boooks
(but then Snaoe is only 32 in this book, also or maybe 33)
and he has apparently already done a lot of thigswith what the ministry would call "dark creatures"
( I haveanotheridea as to why Dumbledore hired him) but they needed a DaDA teacher
and he was willing to "teach" the kids how great he was.

The thing about the Harry Potter books is that the author, JK Rowling originally wrote the series for adults. It was the book publishers that decided to advertise it as children's books. If you read between the lines of the story you will see it is a satire. First, one has to understand that you the reader are looking at the story through Harry Potter's point of view as he grows up throughout the years at Hogwarts. In the first book and movie Harry is 11 years old so you see his world from his 11 year old mindset and maturity. But as he grows up and begins to understand things more and more the story gets darker and less innocent as he matures with age.
The reason I call the books a satire is that many of the stories deals with racism of a different kind and political corruption. Dobby might be a house elf but nevertheless he is a slave just the same. There might not be any racism in the wizarding world against people of color but there is racism against wizards who do not come from pure magical families.
Harry doesn't see the horrible similarities between the wizarding world and the muggle world at this point because he is only 12 years old during The Chamber of Secrets. To a certain extent he is still an innocent little boy and is not mature enough to comprehend it all to the fullest extent.

House elves can’t do ANYTHING without their master’s say so. Dobby staking out Harry’s house and subsequently revealing himself goes against JK’s own lore but you’ll learn that she does that quite a lot. Like, house elves cannot take it upon themselves to act against their masters. It isn’t much in the movies but in the books, especially book 4, it is explored more. It’s such a glaring plot hole.
