- King penguins are amongst the most interesting penguin species; and one of the most monogamous as well, as both males and females are very selective when it comes to pairing - a search that often leads to the birth of a penguin chick each year. Young penguins will be dependent on their parents until they are 14 to 16 months old, although they will not achieve reproductive maturity until 3 to 5 years of age.

Its regurgitated food. Penguin chicks are too young to eat food whole so their parents catch food, then regurgitate some of it for their chicks

I've never heard of a king penguin. Those emperor penguins are cute.
King Penguins are their cousins. King and Emperor penguins are two members of the "great penguins", as they are the largest of the penguins. Emperors are more famous because they breed in Antartica itself and have recieved more coverage in the media. But Kings are more disperse and populous, breeding on islands close to Antartica.
Aside from being slightly shorter than Emperors, King penguins also have different young. Emperor penguon chicks have grey coats, king penguin chicks have brown coats. This chick is a bit small but as he grows older he'll have a really thick brown coat.

It's young, it hasn't grown feathers yet, in a few weeks to months it will grown some brown downie feathers.
