In 2006 I traveled with the Transrapid Maglev train on the German 32 km long testsite, topspeed was 400 km/h. Great experience. This train in Shanghai is made in Germany.
Yeah I did this about a year back and about 12 years ago. The difference between the two speeds is a saving of 1 minute. I guess not worth the extra speed at all, in terms of time saved.
@@mariokrings yes you are so damn right since there is a wall inside your body to see outside. Please keep yourself like this and we are glad to see this situation
They still do the top speed twice a day. I was on it five years ago. I travelled out to the airport by metro so I could get the Maglev back into town. It took 90 minutes to get out to the airport and 7 and a half minutes to get back to the city centre. It was a great experience.
Been 14 years since last used the Megalev Pudong airport to Shanghai - amazing experience and when in a taxi going the other way and see the Maglev pass you is amazing and so reasonable price in 1st class
I travelled on this in 2010 when visiting for the Expo ... it was a great introduction to China and what it offers. I also used it on the return journey back to the airport, the taxi driver was not happy as he wanted the fare all the way to the airport itself. I have video of the some of the trip, including the speedo showing 431 kph.
Its heart is a symphony of precision and speed, Every part crafted to fulfill the need. Magnetic levitation or wheels so fine, It transcends the limits of space and time.
I pay less, I plan ahead and take advantage of the price offers. The express feature is the direct service from airport to the station, much faster than using the local services.

3:52 I like the fact that they have airport security checks before you even get to check your tickets, before going onto the platform - do they have armed police and Milltary or security there? It’s something that we desperately need here in the U.K. although we have the British Transport Police, they are not routinely and visibly armed, which would make me feel far safer when travelling and would deter luggage thieves - also in the stations and on platforms, is English widely spoken? I’d really struggle with the language
Sorry for the late reply! All train and subway stations have security personnel, so safety isn't a huge issue. Just avoid bringing flammable or explosive items, like large amounts of alcohol or bug spray, since those will get confiscated at the station. If you have those, it's better to take a bus or taxi. In China, because of its size and wealth gap, not all stations widely use English, but in major cities like Beijing and Shanghai, especially on the line to the airport, there are plenty of English-speaking staff to help you.
Airport style security, you will see similar in some European countries eg Spain when accessing their high speed rail network. I saw similar security for access to the Shanghai Metro, and have seen it on videos for the Chinese high speed rail network. Here in the UK we do not have such security, and do not need it, it is a false protection against a threat that really does not exist. But, security against pick pockets and mobile phone theft is needed, to give comfort and get rid of these (mostly foreign) troublemakers. I do not speak or read any of the Chinese languages, found everything I need to know was bilingual and never struggled ... and with online translators these days life has become too easy.
Germans are the best inventors, yet DE is in the Middle Ages. No Netz, everything on paper, paying with coins, 3 weeks to open a bank account (waiting for paper letters, with TAN, etc.), no real-time bank transfers if you have the same bank as your recipient, late trains, checking your divers license with a magnifying glass, bureaucracy. It's sad to say, but now NL is the new DE.
Will one of these rail companies please take over direct and complete control of the U.K. railways already? - our rail network is a complete disaster here in the U.K. and an external takeover is the only solution
I had the opportunity to travel on that train, it is good to live the experience, but if you are a tourist and you like to admire the wonderful Japanese landscapes, then that train is not for you, everything goes so fast that as a tourist you can not see or observe the natural beauties of the Japanese countryside.

They lowered the top speed from 431km/h to 300km/h many years ago to reduce wear and tear on the train.
The actual reason was the weak grid in Shanghai. They lowered the speed to reduce the energy consumption
