- Bob Clibbon sings Sorry I Never Knew You, an incredible song and perfect for a funeral. The song is followed by a gospel presentation. This is one of the most powerful songs for presenting the gospel. Most people think they are saved... think they are Christians... but they are not. When they stand before Jesus they will hear "Sorry, I never knew you." These words, from Matthew 7, are the saddest, as well as the most devastating words anyone can hear.
Use this video to warn your family, friends, and others that they may hear these words. Challenge them to do as 2 Corinthians 13:5-6 commands us to do... test yourselves to see if you are in the faith.
DVDs are available and may be freely copied and shared. See www.mtaBible.com.
Here are the words to the song:
SORRY I NEVER KNEW YOU
(Jim Ed Brown)
Last night as I lay sleeping
A dream appeared to me
I dreamed about the end of time
About eternity
I saw a million sinners
fall on their knees to pray
the Lord he sadly shook his head
and this I heard him say,
Sorry I never knew you
Depart from me forevermore.
Sorry I never knew you
Go and serve the one that you have served before.
I thought the time had fully come
That I must stand the trial.
I told the Lord that I had been
A Christian all the while
But through his book he took a look
and sadly shook his head
then placed me over on his left
and this I heard him say,
Sorry, I never knew you.
I find no record of your birth.
Sorry, I never knew you.
Go and serve the one that you served down on Earth.
There were my wife and children
I heard their loving voice
They must have been so happy
O how they did rejoice.
Their robes of white around them
their faces all aglow.
My little girl looked over at me
and this I heard her say,
Daddy, we can't with you.
We must dwell in the joys of our Lord
Sorry, for we still love you
But you cannot be our Daddy anymore.
Now when I had awakened
The tears were in my eyes
And looking all around me
And there to my suprise
There were my loving babies
I knew it was a dream
And beside that bed of mine
You should have heard me scream
Father, Lord in Glory
I know thou gave thine only Son
Father, please forgive me
For I want to be ready when you come.

My pleasure!
Many years ago Bob Clibbon did a concert at a church we attended in Oregon. He stayed and talked with several of us. He told how he had an appointment to record an album in Hollywood, but had a terrible cold. He thought of cancelling, but prayed and left. He said he was a plugged up mess until he stepped into the studio. All cleared up and he recorded the album beautifully. When the session was over, he got all plugged up again. Many witnesses to this beautiful act of God that Bob's voice and music would be shared with so many. It's been said "A man is known by the things that bring tears to his eyes". This song does and I love my brother Bob for being willing to be used by God in this way. The rest of the album is terrific, too.
An amazing song right from Scripture and Bob Clibbon sings it so well. Matthew 15:8-9 adds “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
That's the downfall of many denominations claiming to be the true church, but are "teaching the commandments of men".
Jesus said "“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6. A right understanding and faith in Jesus comes from His Word alone. Only a faithful translation of God's Word will do. Your eternity depends on the right answer to the question God would ask: "Why should I let you into my heaven?" He alone makes the rules and there's no place for pride, arrogance and self-righteousness. Carefully read these in order: Romans 3:23, Ro 6:23, John 3:16-17, Ro 5:1, Ro 8:1, Ro 10:9-10, Ro 12:1. May God's Holy Spirit open your eyes to His eternal Truth. John 1:12-13.
Thank you for your comment, and I wholeheartedly agree with everything you've said. I love Bob Clibbon's version, and his desire has always been to sing songs in a way that glorify God. And yes, the doctrines and men, and of demons, seem to be spreading throughout the church as denominations, and individuals, turn from the truth of scripture to teaching that tickles their ears and feeds their pride. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
