It will drastically improve the flowing properties and also increase the curing time which can be very useful in some applications. You can also thin with acetone or lacquer thinner but they aren't recommended. They can drastically weaken the compressive strength of the resin and it may crack over time. They make a thing called a SPOON you can use in place of the Flat stick.
How much would you use to reseal a whole fount?
this demo used 3 tbls to seal the bottom--if you want to do an entire font I'd put in abut 7-8 tbls rotate well then pour out any excess
