  • CHINESE KIKIAM or NGOHIONG... a sausage like dish that has a chinese origin. It is an appetizer consisting of julienned or cubed vegetables with ground meat or shrimp seasoned with five-spice powder in a thin bean curd skin that is deep-fried. Some consider it as a type of lumpia and is a Filipino adaptation of the Hokkien dish ngo hian was adapted right away ever since it was introduced in the Philippines. This episode shows the procedure of How To Make A Chinese Kikiam.
    Ingredients:
    1/2 kg minced or ground pork (400 gms lean and 100 gms fats)
    100 gms minced prawns
    1/2 cup grated Singkamas, slightly squeezed
    1/2 cup grated carrot
    1/4 cup spring onions, chopped
    1/4 cup minced onions
    5 cloves garlic, minced
    3 tbsp soy sauce
    1 tbsp oyster sauce
    2 tbsp brown sugar
    1 tsp 5 spice powder
    1/4 cup cornstarch
    salt and pepper to taste

      You mean the Taope wrapper? You can buy it on big supermarket on asian section... if you want cooked ready to eat kikiam... i can see it at SM megamall supermarket at the hallway before entering the supermarket... but the original chinese kikiam can be bought somewhere in Binondo or Ongpin.

      Seguro nga po iba iba ang tawag nila. Me Mom and Pop resto kami kasi sa Manila noon, and Quikiam was one of our fave pulutan.
      Ibinabalot siya sa hindi ko na matandaang term na galing sa lamang loob ng pig. At yung ngohiong naman eh gamit naman namin ang taope.

    Are these taope/bean curd sheets found in the frozen section of Asian markets? Haven't seen one of these before...TIA

      Here in Ph you can find in big supermarket asian section and you can buy online... you can use aluminum foil if not available but taope adds flavor on the kikiam...

    pwd rin bang checkin meat. nasa KSA po kasi ako walang pork at ano bang pwding gamitin. pambalot. maliban sa gamit niyong pinambalot

      Pwede rin chicken lagyan nyo lang ng chicket fat para hindi dry... yong pambalot po may aroma kasi yon nakakadagdag ng sarap pwde sa lazada kayo mag order... pero kung wala talaga aluminom foil na lang cguro... thank you for watching

      Malalaki ang ginawa ko kasi malapad yong taope wrapper nabili ko cguro mga 6 pcs lang... depended na po yan sa inyo ang laki...
