    When wobble is weak, I am able to get rid of it by keeping one leg touching the wheel and putting slight more weight on it. I am still going straight, but essentially I am carving in slight angle. This gets rid of wobble when wobble is weak. With enough mileage under your belt, you should be able to do this without even thinking.
    In strong wobble, I sit down to get rid of wobble quick. If you have a handle to grab on to, that's even better. In standing position, I try not to grab the wheel with my legs when experiencing strong wobble. I let the wheel hit my legs as I am sitting down. Each time it hits my leg, it dies down slowly. Once my butt touches seat, wobble stops quickly.

      Letting the vehicle's side repeatedly slap one of my legs is also how I damp out wobbles. In my case, the vehicle is a motorcycle or bicycle - I am not yet an EUC rider, but aspire to be one.
      I think when the vehicle's side slaps the leg, energy is transferred to the leg and therefore is extracted from the vehicle. This helps to damp out the wobble cycle.
      Another content creator's video pointed out that one should NOT attempt to stop wobbles by gripping the EUC tightly with both legs. That also is consistent with my experience on motorcycles and bicycles.
      I really appreciate how EUC riders share their experiences and tips to help newcomers.

    Nice Jacket
    I have found that I get more positive reactions from other when wearing more visible Clothing / Gear while riding.
    I dont get wobbles much but then I dont ride very fast and if I do get them then I ride through them, I believe if wobbles catch you off guard and you decelerate suddenly you have a 50/50 chance to make it better / decrease or worse / increase depending on the frequency / timing of your reaction to the wobble.
    When I had a accident some years ago I went and had my walking poisture analyzed and according to it one foot is close to half a Cm longer than the other and the funny thing is after starting riding EUC's I dare say I feel it gives me more control / leverage in the form of slightly different feedback / sensation from the wheel's contact with the ground, to triangulate (so to speak) my position in space during maneuvers, as in I bend one knee further out than the other so it kinda leads the other foot.
    I also scraped the foot-plates alot when I'm acclimatizing to a wheel after long time away or new wheel to get the most sensory information for my muscle memory, my riding style is casual and I like going down stairs, up inclines, doing pumptracks and ride downtown or on the countryside alot as opposed to long highspeed rides, jumps and trails, I'll probably try more of that later though.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  3 місяці тому +2

      Yes, and thank you the visibility helps a lot even though sometimes I wear dark clothes with lights, I do agree the bright jacket is a better approach.
      As for your point about leg asymmetry, it's probably way more common than people imagine. If you watch Hsiang's videos, you can see that he rights with a super asymmetrical stance with one foot pointing way further out. That's why I think EUC riding is unique to everybody because everybody has slightly unique anatomical properties to account for.
      I enjoy both the casual riding and the fast speed riding. For me though, nothing beats the feeling of acceleration and zooming through the streets even though I know I need to be careful.
      Riding two different wheels changes the muscle memory to some extent. I notice that after riding the Begode Extreme with higher pedals and turning assist, sometimes I go back to my Nikola+ with lower pedals and end up scraping the pedals a little bit because my turning memory was attuned to the other EUC. That's why I'm impressed when people can right multiple EUC's really well. I think I'm okay trying to just be really good at one, reliable, and powerful EUC.

    • @Planet-ICELAND
      @Planet-ICELAND 3 місяці тому +1

      yes asymmetry can be a big factor, Feel one can respond quicker in a reaction pose/stance with the dominant foot ahead but then I also notice when I go down stairs or spin upon to a sidewalk or a rock I reposition the feet to be parallel just for that action and then switch back to the prior stance.@@PurpleRider

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  3 місяці тому +1

      That's a good point. The feet don't necessarily need to stay in a static position. You can reposition your feet for whatever need you have coming up.@@Planet-ICELAND

    "A little judgey", that's funny! The worst for me in Southern California is that I am a 58 year old dude on a super expensive electric mountain bike and guys that ride regular mountain bikes love to give me stink eye. I call them fitness snobs. And even though they are snotty I smile and wave at them and say "hey man how are you doing"! And I do it a little over the top just to mess with them. 😂 I can't help it. I haven't had anybody give me attitude on my EUC however. Everybody just looks at it and cheers me on.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  3 місяці тому

      Plus a lot of the fitness people have been exerting themselves so they might not be able to give relaxed reactions anyway.
      I will say that many cyclists have been pretty chill to me and some have even thanked me for my behavior (turning off bright lights when approaching them) and also I've been thanked multiple times for slowing down on a two way bike path. Sometimes the cyclists are going super slow, probably 6-8 mph and so I really bring my speed wayyy down when approaching them.

      @@PurpleRider yes, good stuff. I am always super polite and I never pass people at speed or surprise them by zipping by when they do not know I'm there. Just like what you are doing I think it's great, it goes a long ways. If I want to go on a speed run I like to do it in the middle of the night. Last week I got up at 2:30 in the morning and in addition to the bright light on my Lynx, I have a super powerful spotlight in my hand. Then I can go ripping around at speed all I want as there is no one around and on this ride I did 20 miles of dirt and 3000 feet of elevation gain and almost a 50 mile long ride. Then it's coffee and a hot tub at 5 AM. I just love EUC's! So fun.

      Riding at night it early in weekend mornings is the best because there’s so little traffic on the roads. Of course on trails your best bet is going in the middle of the day in a weekday when there’s less people out!

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  3 місяці тому +1

      Yea I agree, I do have some of my best rides when there is less traffic and the drivers that are out aren't as stressed because there also are less cars out. Sometimes I feel guilty going for joyrides during commuting hours, but I try to rationalize it somehow like I'm not hurting anybody and there's a lot worse things a person could do. @@PBTfpv

    So I have had minor wobbles like everyone else. On my 16x I learned to stop them, on my S22 same. On my EX30 I had them happen severe a mile into a ride on a slight downhill turning left, they were so violent all my usual fixes didn't work. Ended up going down at 30mph but amazingly no damage to me or the wheel since I hit the dirt and some bushes.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  3 місяці тому +1

      Dang! I have heard that heavier wheels are more difficult to get under control once they start wobbling and the EX30 definitely has some weight to it. Thankfully both you and the wheel came out just fine. The worst is when you have a crash, get injured, AND the wheel is damaged. Thanks for sharing your wobbles story.

  • @ChrisH0Y
    @ChrisH0Y 4 місяці тому +2

    I had some wobbles at the beginning on my little V8S, and mostly on the Nik and V12, never in the V11 interestingly enough. I saw the wobbles like being stuck in a feedback loop, and I had the "knock" things back into line with a well-placed, aggressive carve - to mess-up the pattern. As time went on, the wobbles became less frequent. I haven't had single wobble for about a year now. That will change, I know I will get the wobbles again when I get my new wheel, so I will "re-learn" with caution and take it slow at first.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  4 місяці тому +3

      I think you're onto something with seeing wobbles as being stuck in some type of feedback loop. The rider will fail to control the wobble if they put effort into maintaining the same line, whereas creating a new pattern with a carve can help bring things back under control. On the Nikola+, I have been used to keeping my heels in contact with the wheel, but I've learned on the Begode Extreme and with Johnny Go Vroom's video validating what I've experienced myself is that I have more control with keeping my heels out/toes in/shins against the pads. I do believe that even though you'll experience wobbles again, it won't be as bad because you have the skills and confidence to know that you can get out of it.

    I have a Sherman max and it’s a lot of fun but I get foot fatigue quickly… wish I could shake it out and go for miles too… I’d blame the lack of suspension but others have ridden them long distances

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  3 місяці тому +1

      Yea foot fatigue is totally normal. Just like most people wouldn't be able to go from running 1 mile to running 16 miles, the more often you go out (and recover), the longer you can go next time. Same thing with EUC and foot fatigue.
      Also, I think the shoes you wear plays a role. When I switched from athletic shoes to a well fitting mid-top motorcycle shoe with ankle support, it helped quite a bit. How long have you been riding it for?
      Another thing that helps is taking rest breaks or doing warm up portions for your ride instead of just doing one long ride. Similar to a run or a workout, if you ease into it, then take a little rest before the main event, you're less likely to sustain the fatigue and have better performance.

    Are OneWheels welcome on the Saturday night rides? I'm in Southern Pearce County. My neighbor and I usually try to avoid Seattle if we have to, but we also want to get in on the group rides. I went to Bentonville, Arkansas in 2022 for Float Life Fest 5 and we had nearly 2 dozen people in our night ride group. During the day there were thousands of people. It was worth the drive. Camped in my 16' cargo trailer.

      @PurpleRider  3 місяці тому

      Wow, riding with thousand of people at Float Life Fest sounds incredible. I can only imagine the good vibes there!!!
      Regarding the Saturday Night Ride, it seems like it's more accommodating for OneWheels and other moderate speed riders during the warmer weather when the sun sets later. For example, every anniversary ride is super inclusive, even people on Lime scooter join in on the fun. On those rides, it's more like a parade and cruise even though some people will like to get ahead and go fast.
      Looking back at the last few weekends, it's mostly been E-bikes, scooters, and EUC's going 25+ mph. The hardcore riders even go in the rain and cold.

    My problem with wobbles is when I try to sit. Just about when I get my butt near the seat I get serious wobbles. I have figured out how to nearly eliminate them standing but I'm still a bit of a newbie and haven't gotten comfortable enough to sit down at speed.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  3 місяці тому

      Something that has been helping me seated is having some dorsiflexion with the foot on the pads. And then if I feel that I'm losing some stability, try to change the pattern by doing a gentle lean forward carve to the left or right.

      I think it’s good to have a bag of tricks to deal with wobbles. Usually the first one works. But if it doesn’t, you can move on to the next and not panic. Carving, asymmetrical stance, acceleration, grabbing wheel, sitting. All good to practice and feel comfortable with. Different wobbles sometimes require a slightly different approach to resolve them. Usually doesn’t take much if you catch it quickly enough.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  3 місяці тому

      Absolutely correct. There's more than one way up the mountain. Same goes for riding EUC and helping to prevent and/or correct wobbles. The possibilities are really only limited to the amount of positions and combination of stances/actions that the rider is able to take. @@PBTfpv
