      @makeuplover6852 7 місяців тому +2

      There is a reason for this. I have worked in retail in Canada for over 32 years, I have held pretty much every position one can imagine. There is only so much room per brand in a Sephora (or any store for that matter, same goes for ULTA, Wal-Mart etc). Each Brand, let's use Dior as an example, will have x amount of feet that they must use to assert all of their line. Smaller stores mean each brand has fewer feet on the shelf to showcase their entire line. People called "assortment planners, or store planners" use data/history that is gathered by tracking sales by sku and using this history on sell through the planner will put together a plan on which sku's - let's say foundation shades, the store will carry and which skus' (shades) won't be carried in store but will be available on line. If the store is in Asia you can be assured that all of the very lightest shades will be stocked in every store, as the shades get darker, they will drop off and not be assorted in that store. If a store was in Dubai the most pale shades likely will be dropped off and the in store available shades will be darker and all shades that are a better match for the majority of the demographic will be what is carried in store, all shades might be available on line. You can basically apply this to every product that comes in shades to match skin tones - across the world. The largest stores, often called "flagship" stores might carry every single shade, especially in areas that have a high multi-cultural population. In Canada we have 4-5 flagship malls that most stores would carry their full assortment. Those are in downtown Vancouver, downtown Toronto, Bay st Toronto, downtown Montreal. The USA will have of course many many more "flagship malls" where they do a very high volume and are in cities which have a much higher percentage of multi cultural demographic customer. For example, a Sephora in downtown NYC and a Sephora in a mall in Montana are not going to be assorted the same. Weather also plays a role in how stores can be assorted quite differently. In Canada we have a very high Asian population in Vancouver - so stores in Vancouver will have a very different assortment compared to a store in down town Toronto. Let's say it's a store that carries clothing. The clothes will be assorted with a much heavier weighting on the smaller sizes, and fewer of the largest sizes. While most stores in Canada are jammed with big puffer winter coats by September, boots, mittens hats etc...While stores in Vancouver might not get any of the big puffer heavy winter coats but will get more rain coats and light weight scarves and boots that are for aesthetic not cold winter temps.
      Ok...I guess I kinda got a little excited, explaining the process retailers follow to create assortment plans for their stores. This is why you will often find that a store like Sephora might not carry every shade of foundation /complexion products.

      tf is slow makeup? 😭

    • @greyscalesx
      @greyscalesx Рік тому +5

      @@addangel it's like slow fashion or slow food which is the opposite to fast foods/fashion which is oriented towards consumerism.
      Usually slow make up/care products have, amongst other things, reusable packages.
      For example glas pots with bamboo lids and spoons.
      They also got refills with biodegradable packaging or recycled plastic that uses also way less plastic than a tube/pot would have.
      They also have a production process that tries to prevent as much as possible waste of material and energy.
      Finally some of them have a system where you only need 2 or 3 products to make your whole skin care routine.
      For example the Belgian brand delbôve has only a few products. The line is called 'sorcière' it means witch.
      Where you only need to buy the witch cream and witches water.
      Then you follow the recipes.
      The water is a micellar water that creates micro bubbles that get into the pores and get the sebum and dirt out.
      Then you mix the water with the right amount of cream and the chemical reaction makes it a lotion cleanser/make up remover that needs to be rinced out.
      When you use the cream alone it can stay on the skin, no rince.
      I do think there are drops that you can buy to put in the cream to change it again into a night serum now too.
      Delbôve is expensive though, since their family invented that particular process and the witch cream is special, it can remove sunspots, hyperpigmentation, age spots etc and thus it is a patented formula since the 80s.
      But there are other brands.
      Anyways, in all and all those are the principles of slow skincare ; less waste possible of resources, reusable packaging, limited amount of products/ 1in 2/4 products.
      All this so the product doesn't get used, trashed and re bought as fast and make a lot trash or pollution.
      I made the explanation as clear and complete as possible.
      English is my third language, so please be indulgent, if my sentences are awkward.
      I hope this helps you out.

    That‘s how it is in Europe honestly. It‘s because we have our own many stores too that are similar or the same like „Douglas“. It has everything and more. Also Drugstores compare to Sephora alot here. So we only go to Sephora to see if there‘s any american brands maybe that are good that aren’t in other shops but there really aren‘t so they have to opt for dupes or some exclusive Sephora line products here to get people to buy anything there. Alot of cosmetic brands and luxury brands are based in europe so you can only imagine.. there‘s nothing exciting from that point of view in Sephora :( many Sephoras here close as soon as they open.

It's meh/ okay. Sol de janerio is worth the extra cost and NOTHING in the Sephora body care line, is at ALL comparable to my Sol de janerio . Can ppl just stop with the "Dupes" 😂 Every "Dupe" I have bought is a huge disappointment. Just Save for the good shit if it's the quality you want! Edit: The sephora stuffs okay for days you do want to splash out the fancy stuff, just don't want anyone to be disappointed and actually believe it's at all similar. It's not. The scents are totally All different. And the formula is NOTHING alike.

The scents aren’t similar at all- there’s a tiare white floral scent, a soapy cherry blossom, a synthetic mango scent, and a powdery cotton flower scent.
