Love H-Mart! I go there occasionally for dumplings and beverages. I like their pickled radish too. They don't have a prepared food section quite like the one you have, but there is a restaurant built in where you can order freshly made food. I need to see if I can find those boba pancakes. Those look really good.
The ones around Atlanta have a full-on food court with many options. And Korean appliance sales, a K-Pop store, clothing, a bakery, housewares... anything from Korea you can think of.
Being Korean American, I'd frequent the H-marts all throughout Georgia but being stationed overseas, I miss browsing through all the aisles. I got a blast of nostalgia from this video.
I live near Houston and wanted to invite you to come and check out Katy Asian Town, just 30 mins out of Houston in Katy, TX. They have the most amazing asian restaurants and cafes there! All sorts of Asian food - Thai, Chinese, Japanese, etc. But the most special place of all is called Chang Wung Chinese BBQ. It is nothing like American or Texas BBQ but it is equally as delicious! The food is amazing here but the thing that makes this place stand out is Kitty, the owner. She works so hard but still finds time to make her staff and customers feel like family. Each time I'm there she is friendly and generous! She gives me samples of her different foods to try and is just such a beautiful and gracious human being. I would love if you could come and help put a spotlight on her small business! Thank you!
I looove HMart, luckily out here in San Diego we have a couple of them along with so many other Asian supermarkets (Marukai being a favorite). Love watching your videos.
Inspired me to try a lot of this at my next H-Mart trip. My partner and I get the pork belly, kimchi pancakes, and kimchi to have our own mini korean bbq meal. We’ve also gotten the same thin ribeye as well!
물회 (cold seafood soup) is a totally a thing of its own in Korea. A lot of seaside joints will serve this as their primary item. Basically the same sauce but the protein is changed based on the location and catch.
I’d been intriduced to H Mart earlier in 2023 by a lady I was dating. Before then I only knew of what treasures the Vietnamese markets (Lion Market, Đại-Thành) and Japanese markets (Mitsuwa, Nijiya) that my city had to offer… but lo and behold the gem my nextdoor city of Cupertino- H Mart! A bit pricier but the quality is damn fine!
Oooo I love those pancakes. I have them in my freezer right now. I like the sweet potato, the leek, the Green onion, and the red bean paste ones. So good.
the translucent dumpling you showed at first was very cool. it's like hargow or some korean wrappings. it looks amazing and i'm sure it tasted amazing! the future of dumplings is looking up!
Next time you visit the Bay Area, check out Mega Mart. They're from Seoul, and have better selection of to-go hot foods, gimbap, and sushi than H-Mart.
Hi Mikey. Great Hmart haul. Glad the marinated short ribs weren’t too sweet. I agree with you that store bought can be very sweet. Let me know if you want an authentic Korean marinade for short ribs. It’s my mom’s recipe. We’ve been doing our bbq using her recipe for over 35 years.
I got 2 pounds of amazing bulgogi ribeye and a packet of kimchi fried rice today during my first visit to H Mart 😋 this video is making me want to go upstairs for a second helping lol
there is an h-mart and two Lotte’s (both similar international grocery stores) in the Chantilly/Centreville area of Va (usa). i dont know what most of the the stuff is but i do love the things i have tried and the vegies are 1/2 the price of regular stores.
Cold noodles are sort of weird for everyone. It's one of those dishes that takes some time to get used to. It's popular during the summer time when you want something cool and refreshing.
My Dad's parents came from Sweden to Alberta. They lived in Drumheller and Rosedale. Mining and dinosaurs! Dad remembers growing up with there always being pickled herring and pigs feet. He grew up on them. Barrels next to the house, full of pickled herring and pigs feet. Because there was very little refrigeration.
Seattle is so expensive these days and eating out in Korean restaurants is not cheap! I've never really thought about just buying from Hmart and cook it at home. And @strictlydumpling I got the same pan as yours.
True. Korean restaurants have been going up in price over the last 3 years. Shopping at the Korean market is the way to go - they have good deals there, especially produce.
I love my local H mart and Korea foods. We also have other Korean supermarkets, where i live is a big concentration of Korean immigrants so we are lucky to also have their foods and shops 😊
Those Turtle Chips are amazing! Slightly off topic, but I discovered an amazing combo involving instant hot pot and a mango flavoured Monster Ultra energy drink. For some reason the spicy, numby flavour of the hot pot just goes so well with a sparkling mango beverage.
H Mart is food heaven. My late husband and I went often, and tried so many great things. There are two nearby, and one has a food hall next door, and the other has two little but delicious restaurants inside. I miss it so much- it's too far for me to Uber, and I can't drive due to disability.
Mike, I'm always so jealous that you can eat all the hot food's. I can no longer eat anything hot (spicy) 🫤 I will just have to live vicariously through your videos. Thanks for the great food tours! ❤
Mike really said "breakfast" and ate more food than some of us eat in a week.
keep up the good work Mikey!

After so many years of making videos its nice that mikey has stuck to his roots and mantained the early 2000s amatuer youtube vlogger aesthetic.
I agree! It's not overly produced and very down to earth.

Fr! I'm also from the UK but I am part korean so sometimes it can be hard to find a place that sells a lot of Korean products/produce
The HMart we have in London is so poorly stocked compared to this 😢

Too late... 🙄
Luckily, I was prepared this time. Watched this with a plate of hot, delicious, home-cooked Korean food.
It still made me hungry, though. 😭
That is valid advice. I placed a sizable order from Amazon for some Korean dry goods while watching this just now. LOL

its very reminiscent of vietnamese Bot Loc, which uses steamed tapioca starch to make it translucent

Congratulations Christina! I can so much more enjoy Mikey’s videos now that he eats with his mouth closed.
I think he also toned down on the slurping
You should do a video on the food court right outside of that Hmart. It would be interesting to see a little haul from each place.
