    Depending on what state you are in, discharging a firearm is an offense and treated as a negligent discharge. This is usually specifically in cities or residential areas; I personally don't have any issue if the man was using birdshot on a shotgun but there are reasons you don't fire firearms into the sky (its called gravity).

      The drone was being used to creep on his daughters, which is invasion of privacy (and potentially child porn, if the daughters were under 18), which he had every right to retaliate against. FAFO.
      And depending on the gauge of the shotgun, the length of the barrel, the type of shot used, and the height of the drone, the spread may not have been wide enough to endanger anyone or anything but the drone. IRL shotgun spread is vastly different from video games. Plus, the headline never states if he was in an urban/suburban area or out in the country.

      @@DragonxFlutter Given he was arrested it's pretty safe to say it was in town, most towns even in the gun loving south have strict ordinances against discharging a weapon within city limits. Not saying the guy wasn't justified just that you can't fire a gun outdoors in most towns in US.

    • @pyro1047
      @pyro1047 5 місяців тому +1

      @@DragonxFlutter Shotspread is A LOT tighter IRL than Video Games or Hollywood depict, but just like a rifles MOA it's still gonna open more the greater the distance is (Especially since MOA is grouping size at a specified range [100m I think?] So further out any effects on accuracy are magnified more and more.
      And "Into the Air" is definitely "Far" enough especially with wind to open that spread from a doughnut or pie pan, to a pattern grouping the size of a livingroom, house, barn or more meaning unless you're on a large piece of private property with no one near, you can't 100% guarantee it'll land safely.
      And as you said depending on gauge (Cartridge width), cartridge length i.e. "It was "just" a 12g #00BK, but a 3½ Magnum with 3X the pellets, more powder, etc", Ammunition used i.e. Birdshot = 99.9% OK, but 000BK or a Solid Slug = A no good very bad day IF it hits someone, there's also barrel choke, pellet deformation causing a larger grouping of shot due to their decreased accuracy and stability, was his barrel rifled or smooth bore? On, and on... to tighten or widen that spread.
      I'll add I'm 100% on the father's side, and think the drone operators electronics should be searched a long with his Internet Search History and if there's software/apps installed for access to the dark web, check that too (We all know Duck Duck Go gives their info if supeonad). If he's a Chomo, odds are he's at least got or looked up SOMETHING incriminating. But that theory heavily depends on the un-given age of the daughters, them sunbathing makes me assume they'd be older, but them only mentioned as "The Daughters" with no names or age given also makes me think/implies minors as they usually receive much more privacy protection when it comes to public records and stuff like that.
      If the Father used Birdshot or high enough #BK to be 90% harmless falling down, I think he should just be immediately released. A slug or #000BK... $50 fine? I think we'd know if he hurt or killed anyone by now, and stupid or not he still had a VERY good reason for shooting into the sky to take out that drone. While not all, there's A LOT of crimes I'd excuse, like... MOST... of them if the reason someone committed them was to protect their daughter(s).

      That message and wording, especially at that time of day, is essentially equal to and damn near guy code for "Shit's fucked man, life's fucked, or it's not?? idk, probably am killing myself within an hour if not sooner, like, immediately after making sure this was sent successfully and you got it (Doesn't matter if it's been read yet, as long as it's been sent successfully it'll still be read later whenever the recipient wakes up or checks their phones Messages/Notifications) Just wanted you to know our friendship means/meant a lot to me man and despite how it's gonna end; I wouldn't have lasted this long without ya brother and just wanted to thank you for everything and make sure you knew, knew how much it meant, how much I cared, just everything man".
      Especially if something traumatic has happened ANYTIME "recent" like within the last couple hours to within the last Decade almost, like death of their Wife/GF, getting cheated on and/or left by their SO, death of their parent or child, even them losing a job, losing a job and being ashamed to tell their spouse, being falsely accused of certain crimes, a nasty divorce, a nasty divorce with a cold-hearted B*tch wanting to hurt him as much as possible usually for no reason other than she's mentally ill and refuses to address it so she ignores his visitation rights and doesn't allow him to see his kids to twist the knife she's already stabbed extra deep (Honestly pretty common unfortunately, with the women getting custody by default because *Women*, and NOT EVERY but still A LOT of courts and DCF officials not caring anywhere near as much when done to the dad, than to the mom; mom can no show with no head up numerous times before they'll care as they get a lot more leeway, deny her once or twice on the otherhand and odds are you'll not only get a court order but possibly even a DCF home visit as well (Though things have gotten a bit fairer in the last decade or two, with me even acknowledging sometimes it's the dad who manipulates the courts with lies and half-truths to get custody and punish/hurt the wife. But mom by default is still the norm when it comes to custody disputes unless the dad's got DAMN good lawyers and an equally good reason custody should be his) [ I even heard where Ex got FULL custody of their kids, despite the husband presenting undeniable evidence she'd been and still was a hardcore drug addict and absentee parent as well due to it, yet she still won custody because "Woman = Mother, and all know no mother unloving; but single father weird and likely abusive especially if daughters so judge no trust dad". And it either ended there or, unfortunately, one of her druggie boyfriends she hooked up with after molested or even killed the kids] and that's just *Because Woman*, she files a false restraining order on you? That's all it takes and you're DONE for (Disgustingly, I've even heard of moms convincing their daughters who're too young to understand what'll happen, to accuse the father of "Molestation" and if asked "where" to just point "there" and without ANY evidence of ANY kind the dad's automatically arrested, charged, and convicted of a crime that never happened so any proof doesn't exist *except* for some vague sentences from the daughter mostly repeating the same things and then pages upon pages of the mother explaining her shock and how she didn't think he was capable or'ddo such a thing right before spouting a deluge of pages upon pages about all "The signs" and every single thing she though was "Odd at the time, but a huge warning sign now looking back" after she'd just said you'd never do that and she was shocked you were even accused of it. Naturally custody is automatically denied, she pretty much gets whatever she wants in the divorce, and she moves herself and the kids to another state and changes their names so they're impossible to ever find again and after 15-20yrs of the dad in prison he's broke upon release fighting just to pay rent on a shitty apartment or trailer and barely running vehicle so he can make minimum wage or less and the kids have either been gaslit into believing abuse happened, or were so young back then that they're incapable of remembering enough details to find their dad if they wanted too). Mom could be the biggest most irresponsible crackhead hoe on the PLANET and there's STILL a non-insignificant amount of judges that'd give her custody anyways, even without a fake restraining order; just because *She woman*. Got help you if she's cheated on you with or has moved on to a rich guy, a rich guys son, or a guy/guys family that's close to or even THE judge. I remember a case where a man went to pick up his kids FOR HIS LAWFULLY SCHEDULED CUSTODY DAYS just so we're all clear, from his ex and her new BF's house, and he was never seen again; despite accusations against her BF, a police investigation, that investigation uncovering the fact that multiple boards from the front porch they'd pulled showed not only the presence of blood, but still had the actual streaks of blood themselves while the tops appeared to have been scrubbed clean assisted by cleaning chemicals, etc; but the BFs dad either owned multiple businesses and employed a lot of the town OR was the local county judge (I saw the episode as a kid so can't remember, but it was a real case on one of those true crime series, unsolved true crime series, etc.) So the dad's disappearance despite it being his day to have the kids, him leaving specifically to get his kids, and evidence he made it to their house, blood on their front porch that'd been scrubbed and cleaned off the top, but missed the running drips and pooling drops from the bottom of all the cleaned boards, and him NEVER being spotted again after making it there, the local PD/Sheriff's simply moved on and labeled it a cold missing persons case relegated to a low priority status instead of pushing further] (Back to main topic) etc, etc, etc... Even something like failing a semester of college and being ashamed of his parents finding out can (Even has, IIRC) cause certain people choosing to *Opt-Out* instead.
      So THAT'S the true brocode meaning and why seeing them face-to-face ASAP, and maybe hang'n out for a bit is so important Or.... They're just pissed faced drunk😂.
      On a sadder note I remember the wife married to the son of a prominent wall street/pyramid scheme scam artist that stole HUNDREDS of millions if not BILLIONS scamming people out of their retirements, life long savings, mortgaged houses, etc. They knew he was a rich wall street guy, and he'd occasionally give them expensive gifts; but they never even suspected what he REALLY did. Upon his arrest they found out, and were treated by the media and victims just ad badly as the father, claiming they profited of his ill-gotten gains, etc. IIRC they sold all they'd been gifted, their house, etc, to try paying back as much possible for his fathers crimes he and his wife not only never committed but didn't even know about. But Naturally it wasn't enough, NEVER enough, the fathers money was hidden away on private foreign accounts that don't care what U.S. Law Enforcement wants, and the father certainly wasn't telling, some gifts and an expensive house were trinkets compared to what lay on those accounts. But the Death threats, vitriol, and accusations they were involved never quit. After a couple rough years the sons wife got a very similar message, she (and maybe her dad?) Were IMMEDIATELY EXTREMELY worried, hopped in their cars, and raced to him as fast as they possibly could (I think he was at their apartment, and she'd gone to visit her parents that day but they lived nearby so it wasn't like a multi-day trip, I don't even think she was gonna stay the night, intending to come back later that night). And unfortunately, fast as possible still wasn't enough. She/they cut him down while calling EMS for paramedics, (probably) tried performing CPR till they got there, etc. But as stated sometimes ASAP unfortunately just isn't As Soon As Needed/Required. She became a widow that day, her husband's note left behind directly stating he couldn't handle to guilt of all the lives his father destroyed (Magnified by the never-ending hate mail and death threats they got on a daily basis, always a reminder, and exponentially multiplying his feeling of guilt each time someone mentioned all the loss, pain, qnd destruction in their lives and how HE was responsible for unknowingly benefitting from it whenever his father gave them literally anything insisting he knew or was otherwise at fault by proxy, "Sins of the Father" and all that [despite them selling all of it trying help those his dad hurt].
      IIRC the sons widow either wrote a book about it, or was just interviewed about what happened itself. A lot of people were apparently glad he hung himself and considered it an admission of his guilt, judging him 100% guilty basically to the point they acted like it was a proven fact he completely knew of and potentially even participated in his father's crimes. When this came up in the interview her response was she didn't gave a f#ck what some assholes *thought* happened, and they could f#ck off/go to hell; or something along those lines.
      Which considering they'd also had their lives ripped apart, sold almost everything trying to help people they did NOTHING to nor knew anything about as the dad was the culprit, and years later were still constantly harassed and receiving death threats to the point her significant other, the person she loved most KILLED themselves; only for the hate and threats too come just as much yet now includes gloating about how her husband killing himself proves their guilt or else there's no reason he'd of done it... I'm in her corner on this one, if that's the person they are then I honestly don't give a shit what they lost, celebrating 💯

    The thing that probably changed my life the most was a book. The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. The main character (trying to avoid spoilers) has a very bad life and is deeply depressed. He has given up on his own life a long time ago. He finds some comfort in a group of people he is stuck with through the bad things that happened to him. There is this scene where the main character contemplates jumping down a chasm to end things. Until that point I didn't think of myself as "depressed depressed". Just kinda indifferent with life as a way to cope. The way that scene layed out his depression and wanting to die nudged me to admit to myself that I had a real problem. Things I never really thought about popped into my mind that were very bad signs. Oftentimes while waiting on the bus I'd just have these random half thoughts and almost an "impulse" to test out what it'd feel like to jump in front of a car. I never did it, but now I was aware and thinking conciously about it. Life took me down a few notches because of it, so let's just say I had a few rough years. Weirdly as it may seem, in the long run it really helped me. I never went to a doctor for this(very aprehensive about it for a few reasons) but I worked hard to get better. I'm by far still not the happiest person that walked this green earth, but those intrusive thoughts and impulses are gone now. If I hadn't read about the suffering of Kaladin Stormblessed and how much he wanted to end his life, I would've never truly grasped the severity of my mental health until it would've been too late, probably.

    The drone thing happened at my house too. I live up in the mountains and my sister was over with her kids, I walk out my front door and there is a drone about 15ft above them in my yard. I walked out because I'd heard the buzzing for a while and couldn't figure out what it was. I looked up at it and did a finger gun thing like "I'm gonna fuckin shoot that down". It takes off and I get a text from my neighbor who lives a few properties down from me and he tells me I can't shoot down drones because it's a federal crime and he'll have to report it to the FAA. I told him that if I see it over my property again let alone my nieces and nephews again we'll find out. I honestly wouldn't have given a shit if he didn't park the damn thing right above them or was just getting footage of the mountain from higher up because we live in a beautiful area and there's always helicopters and drones getting footage or doing tours but what he did crossed a line. There needs to be privacy laws for that kind of thing.

      I had a similar experience, but I live in Florida. Was replacing brake lines on a pickup truck in the backyard, and while under the bed, I heard buzzing.
      When I climbed out to figure out what was going on, I spotted a drone hovering in my yard. It managed to dance between some fairly large oaks we have and was almost on top of where I had parked my truck to work on it.
      I did the same hand gesture you did, and promptly went inside to grab my 12 gauge. When I got back out, I watched it descend into a nearby property (I don't know and still don't most of my neighbors)
      When I called a sheriff deputy to come out and take a look, he unfortunately couldn't find them as they had grounded the drone and went quiet. But, he did tell me that if I see it again, and it's in my property or above it, I'm within my rights to shoot it down.
      Which is what baffles me about that dad getting arrested.

Had the drone been inside his house then he could blast away, most towns even in the gun loving south have strict ordinances against discharging firearms outside in city limits & for very good reason. Doesn't mean the drone pilot didn't deserve it but the gun charges are quite a bit more serious than the peeping charges.

    27:30 Shooting down drones is a felony, even if they are trespassing. Yes he does own the air space over his land. The FAA is extremely strict about stuff like this similar to if you were to shoot at a commercial airliner, or helicopters flying overhead or even a drone carrying an amazon package.
    Plus, most drones are equipped with wide angle lenses and won't be able to "spy" on people unless they're 5-10 ft away. If the drone had a lens capable of spying on people, then either it's a custom setup. Not much practical reason for a civilian to do this unless it was meant for peeping, and even then it's not practical since how few people actually go outside to sunbathe. Or it's a government drone. Government especially doesn't like their toys being shot down, even if they're in the wrong. Not only that, but shooting up into the air isn't wise considering the bullets eventually come down to earth, unless he used bird shot in a shotgun where the birdshot is typically pretty harmless once it loses its energy.
    Either way, I bet we're missing a ton of context considering it's a meme picture meant to cause outrage.

    27:40 while i agree he did the right thing
    the probable reason why he got arrested is that bullets that go up
    have to come down at some point
    and they will still go very very fast on the way down
    a lot faster then just gravity since your not firing them perfectly up

      That would depend on a few variables that a simple headline can’t cover.
      How far off the ground was the drone? What gauge of shotgun was used? How long was the barrel? What type of shot? Was he in an urban/suburban environment or out in the country/on a larger acreage of land? Did any pellets miss, or did they all connect?

    • @zetsumeinaito
      @zetsumeinaito 5 місяців тому +3

      Yeah the charge was wanton endangerment and criminal mischief. That said, it was a shotgun, so likely buckshot or bird shot. Which means it looses velocity rather quickly. Atleast compared to a rifled round that keeps far higher velocities the whole way. The judge dismissed the case, saying the guy was in the right for shooting the drone. So good on that judge.

    The Balto movie depicts the sled run to retrieve medicine as a single journey, but it was actually a relay with multiple dogs. Balto led the final 55 miles, but another dog, Togo, ran more than double that distance and took on some of the most dangerous parts of the journey.

    for me the game I sat there watching the credits after beating it was Nier Gesalt, I sat there having played for 70 hours since I was young and not so good so it took me awhile as it went through the credits on the true ending I couldn't describe how it felt even now watching it go through each and every page of what I collected and wiped it all page by page and item by item systematically before it even wiped my save, I feel like I was happy since I beat the game but also mixed with horror as I realized that the erasure of the character from everyones hearts and minds was complete all the way down to the save file and I also felt defeated like I hadn't won at all and that in that game where the quest you were on seemed so hopeless that in the end it wasn't but that it also came with a price most wouldn't bear to pay but me and my character paid it and as I watched it all slip away I felt like while we succeeded that the result also felt futile as no one would ever remember it ever even occurred except for me but I also lacked the evidence to prove it since it was erased alongside him... I felt like I went through all manners of grief until I had nothing left to feel but numbness
