I watched a live version of this, from Hamburg. SO good. They really made the wise choice with Emily! Thanks for pointing things out in the song, that I don't notice.
Emily has re-ignited my love for all kinds of Metal. I used to listen to a lot of that in the early 90s, and I've known for a while that there's a lot of catching up to do for me, there's a ton of great music created in that genre over the last 30 years. What I didn't expect though is how much more I can now relate to screaming female lead voices in Metal / Rock, compared to the 90s when I was only listening to male screamers ...
Man, if you really want to go down that rabbit hole (female screamers/growlers in metal), you're in for a treat. The amount of very talented women out there is insane. ❤
The starting theme song is part of the track as well, no significance to League of Legends. Theres also no pause after the big scream, she just keeps singing which is super damn impressive!
Emily is definitely killing it and, as you say, this is really exciting. Great channel and great analysis - I really like how you do the full playthrough first.
It's always interesting to listen to professionals. I don't even notice some details while listening. This makes me respect the creators even more. Thank you!
Some of the older league of legends music videos would be super interesting reactions as well, “still here” has an amazing performance, as well as “the call”And a breakdown on stings “what could have been” from their show would be cool to look at for putting emotion into the voice
Whenever I play this song/music video for a first time in a day, it's always just a wave of goosebumps from toes to top of my head on first build up and chorus. So damn good. LP are so damn back. It's such a good feeling.
Love this song and your reaction. It’s such a good time for me. And I’m expecting more and more. Thanks for the analysis too. It’s so cool to deep dive into things.
Emily is on my list of favorite female rock vocalists. While not Emily's equal for being able to 'scream sing', Dani from The Warning has a great voice with that growly raspy sound like Emily's. Though all three of the girls in The Warning are incredible singers.
@10:30 ish... the 'higher voice' on the soft "today is the day you're going to notice" pre-chorus (the first time) is Emily and Mike singing together. You really see it in the live versions, but even the animation shows her singing along with him (very briefly before it cuts away to the action).
In the last chorus the way she holds out "crown" almost blends with the guitars playing the root note and then harmonizing the second chord.. pure perfection
Love this!! And love how thoroughly you break it down. I think Emily has a great voice and she really compliments Mike's rapping and style. There's always gonna be haters because of Chester, but I'm listening objectively and honestly I think it's great. Loving your reactions more and more all the time

100%, I've been saying the same thing. I really liked MTM when it came out, sure not as much as the other studio albums but it was solid. But they were shat on for that album too, and all the way up to the release of OML. Honestly, music fans can be both incredibly supportive and wholesome, and unbelievably entitled and toxic. I am a big fan of this new LP era, they are going back to the Meteora / MTM sound but with a modern spin. And Emily is killing it too! I saw them in London last week, such a good performance.

The way I interpret this song is a huge homage to old Linkin Park and proof that Emily can continue Chester's legacy - hence "heavy is the crown". Really cool breakdown! So professional :D
She is one of the few women that could do heavy metal. There was a singer years ago, named Darby Mills, who was in a band called The Headpins. So so music, but her voice...Geezus! Too bad that did not pan out.

I think this is another great new track from Linkin Park’s rebirth. The chorus really works in my opinion. Emily’s grittiness is undeniable to me- that sustained scream is phenomenal. I myself have learned full distortion like you hear in extreme metal. My “normal” voice is nearly totally absent when I do that kind of vocal. It took me some time to figure it out and get it down. But I love the heavy stuff and wanted to find that style if I could. Linkin Park is back and none of the haters can stop them.
@TimWelchVocalStudio to be fair, I saw them live in London where it was a bit more obvious. Also, she held that scream live, after an almost 2hr show, for about 12 seconds, well worth watching. Great reaction and vocal breakdown BTW really interesting
Beats audio headphones actually are a very good brand and if taken care of can last well over 3 or more years, theres also a online company that makes replacement parts for them
"maybe i need to start playing league of legends" maybe if you got a few friends that play/want to start learning, but if you pick up the game solo its not kind... very unhappy community and its 5v5 team games so people tend to put the blame on teammates in the in-game chat with crazy toxicity. Loved the breakdown though, you give great advice!
Wow. I know so little about Linkin Park aside from just knowing their hit songs. Chester, I'm guessing, is the former singer who is now deceased, and Emily has big shoes to fill? From the sound of it though, she's doing a bang-up job of it! Wow! Thank you for exposing me to new music.
@@TimWelchVocalStudio Oh no you have to see the worlds 2024 one the whole show it's about 15 mins long 3 songs, you'll love it. It happened in London about 6 days ago. Insane Music all live.
One thing I will mention that I didn't see in the comments about the beginning of the song, and throughout the entirety of the song really, is that this song and the intro is pretty much a new modern version of Faint. If you hear them back to back, you can hear the similar structure and I believe they have the same exact drum pattern, if not very similar.
Hey Tim - You asked about the initial tune that is played during the intro. I don't think there's any direct correlation with League of Legends (the theme doesn't occur in game), but when I heard it, I'm instantly reminded me of the intros back in Linkin Park's early work. Specifically, I recall "Faint" from the Meteora album which also has a similar tune, with instrumental backing, and then Mike Shinoda rapping
"Is that a League of Legends theme song" So far as I know, no it isn't. League hasn't ever really had a classic motif of their own - they prefer to collab with new artists every ~3 months or so. They are constantly creating new music videos to debut new characters, hype up events (like this for Worlds), or just to showcase things about the game in general. There's a whole fandom out there for people who love all of League's music (and their new TV show, Arcane) but refuse to play the game (because the existing playerbase is infamously toxic)
Hahaha, strangely, I am actually super into martial arts in the last couple years. I trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu 5 times a week and I’m a one stripe blue belt! Not like THAT Tim but…🔥🤘🏼
@@TimWelchVocalStudio you definitely get all you need from the videos and cinematics. all the worlds videos are amazing (2013-present i think is all of them), they also have 4 major bands: K/DA (kpop), True Damage (hip-hop), Pentakill (metal), and now Heartsteel (boy band). if you want to see a little of the pros, there's a 40 minute documentary called "Hall of Legends: Faker" their lore content and other videos are also really good, but the game itself is pretty toxic lmao
Don’t start playing league because the media around it is cool, just enjoy the music videos and animated series Arcane, the game itself is a trap but the lore is interesting. Your attitude towards the games you are playing is really healthy and I wish it was more common.
My thoughts on the record at the start is that it seems to me to be a nod to the Arcane show (S2 coming out in November). And putting Linkin Park through that filter both audibly and visibly with a similar animation style is like indoctrinating them into the world (which aligns with what was done with Imagine Dragons' Enemy).
Speaking of league of legends, it might interest you to watch "how I do fiddlesticks' voice" by Kellen Goff, not from a music standpoint but a vocal specialists. It would be cool as a reaction but if you think it's too far from your usual stuff you might want to just watch it on your own time. Or not 😂 you do you.
I've said for a while that RIOT should have just produced music. League of Legends is... a game I used to play too much. But their music and animatics are just SO on point. Also I just love her voice. I want to learn to sing like this so bad.
@@TimWelchVocalStudio I’ve thought about it and if I ever have money I probably will. I’ve taken lessons in the past but I’ve been very disabled the past couple years and had to take a break.
If anyone wants really good headphones, or earbuds in this case, on a budget, get in-ear monitors imo. Something like the ZSN Pro X is such good value, $30 wired (tho you CAN get Bluetooth adapters, the earbuds can detach from the cable) but I swear the quality is miles better than you're used to from earbuds. My fav headphones are still the Sony MDR-7506, or another in that family. I prefer a more balanced profile, so neither of these recs is super bass heavy, but the mids are sooooo clean.
@@TimWelchVocalStudio daaaayum! Hope you're enjoying the hell out of them! Little outta my price range lmao, but yeah for anyone who'd get AirPods Max, get the Azurys instead. Probably need to get em in person, but they'll be worth it.
The tued dwon part of mike before emily starts singing, I believe emily is actually also singing there and creates the harmony, I believe thats is both of them singing there and not only mike no?
There's a hater channel that talks as he understands about music production and kinda struggled to sh*t on The Emptiness Machine when it came out and how she couldn't sing because he reacted only to the mistakes she made in her very first set as Linkin Park. but he haven't spoken a single word about Heavy is the Crown until now😹😹
HI Can you break down and analyse Story of my Life by One Direction. I have been singing it for years but I can never seem to get it quite right, I was just wondering how did they manage to make the song so easy on the ears? Also how could I manage to recreate that tone and beauty? Any advice you can give me would be helpful, Thank you. Thanks JW
League of Legends has been releasing annual hits with known big bands for years and most of them are pretty fire. The game itself unfortunately has one of the most toxic communities in the gamer sphere :(
I’m curious to know how you can do this type of screaming in concerts night after night without blowing out your voice? Is it technically not the same as regular ‘screaming’?
I think you might be a little wrong with Emily's First line of her verses, I reckon Mike is actually joining her for the first few words as a backing to make the harmonies up.... Definitely sounds more like Mike than Emily.
I really can't recommend the game at all...but, that's up to you. The control and graphics are pretty mid, the mechanics are trash, and the community is an irredeemable affront to both human civilization and the natural world. What I WOULD recommend...is that you watch Arcane...the show that was created as essentially a kind of Lore Prequel to the game. They're ostensibly separate things, but the show ties in well enough that there's currently no explicit lore conflict between the two media. But, Arcane has a pretty banger soundtrack, and the story, art, and acting are top-tier. It's so far beyond the game that it feels more like the game is just a cheap and superficial knock-off of the show. Also, season 2 starts in November, so it's worth watching now so you won't have to wait like the rest of us did. And, apparently this song (possibly others by LP) will be on season 2's soundtrack.
I don't know I honestly think the other female vocalist is a lot better hold the notes and singing sounds more authentic like Linkin Park look at the other video I posted in my comment and please please let me know what you guys think have you guys agree with me and thank the other woman is a lot better than get onto Linkin Park and ask them to let the other women collaborate and do a song or two I really do prefer the other one

@TimWelchVocalStudio to be fair, I saw them live in London where it was a bit more obvious. Also, she held that scream live, after an almost 2hr show, for about 12 seconds, well worth watching. Great reaction and vocal breakdown BTW really interesting
she does this song live on the worlds stage during the Worlds 2024 Ceremony
Lol I remember first getting into LP back around 2000, listening on the radio while playing Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri on the PC.
This is the 2024 Worlds Anthem. They do a new anthem every year.
You really look like a mix of Hugh Jackman and William Dafoe!
I know you already have headphones coming but Audio technica make some of the best clean sounds!
Just got my focal asuryz cans! 🤘🏼🔥
Now i have to subscribe. Awesome explanation!
Awesome, thank you!
Mike tends to double over the end of his bars to do the, as he called it in the ats documentary “the accent”
Review Dead Sarah - Weatherman (official video). It’s Emily at her best.
Awesome, thanks, good to know
Beats audio headphones actually are a very good brand and if taken care of can last well over 3 or more years, theres also a online company that makes replacement parts for them
Never thought wolverine would be reacting to Linkin Park 😮
lol!
Got it, thanks! 😬
Wow. I know so little about Linkin Park aside from just knowing their hit songs. Chester, I'm guessing, is the former singer who is now deceased, and Emily has big shoes to fill? From the sound of it though, she's doing a bang-up job of it! Wow! Thank you for exposing me to new music.
Yes, you got that right! 🔥👊🏼
You have to see the live version, Oh my goodness.
Search up League of Legends Worlds Opening Ceremony 2024.
I did a breakdown of it!
@@TimWelchVocalStudio Oh no you have to see the worlds 2024 one the whole show it's about 15 mins long 3 songs, you'll love it. It happened in London about 6 days ago. Insane Music all live.
I think that second voice in the beginning you are wondering about, is actually Emily already.
Yes, I definitely missed that!
Awesome, I appreciate that! It just kind of sounded like a video game theme to my ear so I thought I would ask.
It's only my opinion but they could have made Emily's sound louder. For even better saturation
you should react to the wordls finals opening where they performed live :)
"Is that a League of Legends theme song"
So far as I know, no it isn't.
That’s what I’m hearing from everybody about this game! Wow.
The guy corners and coaches Sean O'Malley (ufc champion) and is a pro vocal coach
coragts bro
Hahaha, strangely, I am actually super into martial arts in the last couple years. I trained Brazilian jiu-jitsu 5 times a week and I’m a one stripe blue belt!
Not like THAT Tim but…🔥🤘🏼
"Maybe I need to start playing League of Legends" for your own sake, don't!
lol, heard!
@@TimWelchVocalStudio you definitely get all you need from the videos and cinematics. all the worlds videos are amazing (2013-present i think is all of them), they also have 4 major bands: K/DA (kpop), True Damage (hip-hop), Pentakill (metal), and now Heartsteel (boy band). if you want to see a little of the pros, there's a 40 minute documentary called "Hall of Legends: Faker"
their lore content and other videos are also really good, but the game itself is pretty toxic lmao
@@TimWelchVocalStudio just watch arcane it's good, and you'll be happy with yourself. Game is special kind of hard and frustrating
Don’t start playing league because the media around it is cool, just enjoy the music videos and animated series Arcane, the game itself is a trap but the lore is interesting.
Your attitude towards the games you are playing is really healthy and I wish it was more common.
Thanks for the heads up about League of Legends. Yeah, I love video games, but they have a small place in the overall scope of my life at the moment.
Or not 😂 you do you.
lol thanks!
I've said for a while that RIOT should have just produced music. League of Legends is... a game I used to play too much. But their music and animatics are just SO on point. Also I just love her voice. I want to learn to sing like this so bad.
Sign up with us for lessons!
@@TimWelchVocalStudio I’ve thought about it and if I ever have money I probably will. I’ve taken lessons in the past but I’ve been very disabled the past couple years and had to take a break.
Sounds good. Best with everything.
Just got Focal Azurys cans!
@@TimWelchVocalStudio daaaayum! Hope you're enjoying the hell out of them! Little outta my price range lmao, but yeah for anyone who'd get AirPods Max, get the Azurys instead. Probably need to get em in person, but they'll be worth it.
Pure fire
you should see "Still here" from riot too
The tued dwon part of mike before emily starts singing, I believe emily is actually also singing there and creates the harmony, I believe thats is both of them singing there and not only mike no?
Yep, I think you are right.
The intro and through the song sounds similar to Rasputin by Boney M, or at least a couple of bars.
Enjoyed listening to your analysis
If you really want to play League of Legends then here is a pro tip: Play ARAM gamemode only and use command /muteall
Just to keep the conversations quiet? I get there. lol. People have said it’s pretty toxic on that.
There's a hater channel that talks as he understands about music production and kinda struggled to sh*t on The Emptiness Machine when it came out and how she couldn't sing because he reacted only to the mistakes she made in her very first set as Linkin Park. but he haven't spoken a single word about Heavy is the Crown until now😹😹
What is the name of channel?
@@Kkrzik he's Brazilian tho😭
@@kejow. i am asking name of channel
I can’t get into LoL but you don’t need to play it to enjoy watching it as an eSports or watching its TV Spin-off Arcane
Awesome breakdown - 'fanning' hard too!
Appreciate it! And yes!
Should check out “the rumbling” by SiM
5:21 Nah. You don’t want to play. As someone who’s played for 8 years, you don’t want to get involved with playing the actual game 😂
lol. Heard.
its not a theme song for league of legens, its part of the song
HI
Can you break down and analyse Story of my Life by One Direction.
I have been singing it for years but I can never seem to get it quite right,
I was just wondering how did they manage to make the song so easy on the ears?
Also how could I manage to recreate that tone and beauty?
Any advice you can give me would be helpful, Thank you.
Thanks
JW
League of Legends has been releasing annual hits with known big bands for years and most of them are pretty fire. The game itself unfortunately has one of the most toxic communities in the gamer sphere :(
Pls review the worlds 2024 ceremony live performance
I’m curious to know how you can do this type of screaming in concerts night after night without blowing out your voice? Is it technically not the same as regular ‘screaming’?
I explain it when I do the breakdown of the long note in the video! No vocal damage to do this
@@TimWelchVocalStudio yeah I replied too soon! Hah. Thanks!
I think the harmony of Mike before Emily comes in the first time is actually Emily singing the harmony but with volume lowered. What do you think?
Yes, that’s right.
Listened to given up by linkin park ? Studio version, live is great too but listen to it after
15 Second Scream!
I think you might be a little wrong with Emily's First line of her verses, I reckon Mike is actually joining her for the first few words as a backing to make the harmonies up.... Definitely sounds more like Mike than Emily.
Sounded like her voice being doubled though
Cool thanks!
🤘🤘
Great reaction. But! I must to tell , you remind me "Logan" Hugh Jackman :D
lol! I get that a bit.
Tim please react to Kelly Clarksons cover of My Heart Will Go On!
If you like Overwatch 2 you could try Paladins, I think it´s even better than Overwatch 2
Oo thanks!
Start to play League of legend is a bad idea sanity wise, however watching all the music video they release to promote their stuff would be a good idea
For ur own sake, dont even try play this game but u can surely listen all of theirs anthems or watch cimenatics.
