Your rent pricing is completely wrong for every country!! - I dont know where you get your information but you definately never bought, owned or rented properties in any of these cities. I have and you are totally off. - Anyway interesting video, too bad your numbers are so incorrect.
How much to live in a Temple ?
I luve in the province near Davao, Mindanao, Philippines. My rent for my 2 bedroom house is 1q5,000 pesos, about 91 American dollars.
5000 pesos. Not sure how the 1q got in there. My phone goes crazy sometimes.

I choose Philippines...in Baguio is the best place nice weather, fresh vegies and down 45 mins. is La Union with its beautiful beaches..
This is an excellent video. It is very informative with good expenses detail and it is well made. Thank you.
I choose Malaysia..it has everything.. modern, unique, beautiful, safe, usage English everywhere, local foods and foods from all over the world can easily find and delicious and reasonable price..clean, good infrastructure and hospitals, schools and universities.. friendly people..sun, sand, sea and islands amazing..👍👍👍

If you love beach then you need to settle down in South coast are the perfect place for you to try. If you like modesty, easy to access to big cities and transportation, West coast are the perfect place. But if you want to live in big cities then you has two choices either it's Kuala Lumpur or Putrajaya.

Not better than Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Phillipines and Indonesia on the worlds cost of living index and Malaysia is ranked 89 out of 107 countries for property price index. With Thailand and Indonesia being way more affordable.
Malaysia is a British country. English is widely spoken. It is multicultural with Indian, Malaysia, and Chinese communities.

I have spent more than 10 years in Asia, and I still like Thailand very much. Bangkok and Pattaya is where I have lived. I stay right now in Pattaya. Rentals are very affordable in this moment due to the plandemic issues.
Hopefully Thailand will be more welcoming in the future for long term stays.
The last 6 years I lived in Mindanao, Philippines. An amazing place, with very friendly and easy visa policy. Arrive without any visa, and extend your stay up to 3 years as a tourist.
Bali is fantastic, and it has different climates, depending on where you settle. However, getting a long term visa there is not easy.
Malaysia is very good and affordable.
India is interesting but noisy and chaotic at times.
China is very expensive and people are quite impolite sorry to say, and there are almost no English speakers.
Common for all these places is that the authorities may be very tyrannical at times, just notice how they locked everything down with all kind of silly rules. This was terrible in the Philippines and I guess almost all over Asia, and beyond...
Which city u live when u r in China? I think maybe language barrier make some misunderstanding.
City people are impolite, by nature
Pattaya is trash. Fact. Prostitution-central.

Bangkok outside city center for good Wi-Fi and a clean housekept condo without a pool 16000 baht per month. I just left there and I'm in Vietnam. Vietnam is about 20% to 30% cheaper 👌 I've been hopping between Vietnam and Thailand for the last 5 months think I know 👌
Overall, I like Thailand the most. a lot of places to travel, convenient transportation, high speed internet and a variety of delicious food
Sama di Bali juga makanan lezat...lengkap😂😂

Yes indonesia very nice
Thanks for all the great effort in putting that list together! My choice is the magical city of Bangkok. I'd like to live in Bangna which is an area of Bangkok 20 minutes outside of Central Bangkok by freeway. It's cheaper there with everything you need even an IKEA yet close enough to go into the city anytime.
Yup, Georgetown or Penang Island is perfect for me!!!! I will be splitting time between the San Francisco/Bay Area and Penang!!!! Sweet!!!!
Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia capital)is the best city for expats, according to research by US-based language learning app Preply. focused on factors including affordability, internet connectivity, safety and how hard the local language is to learn. People moving to the Malaysian capital can get by on the equivalent of about $1,091 a month, benefitting from low taxes and housing costs.
Sadly the previous government demonstrated a real xenophobia towards long-term retiree and other long-stay tourists with incomes from abroad. They increase the required salary/pension requirements for the Malaysia My Second Home Program from @US2500/month to US10,000/month. Also one has to put in a Fixed Bank Deposit in Ringgit (with poor interest rates) of US200,000 (previously about US80K with numerous allowable withdrawals). Finally one must demonstrate a US300K foreign asset base.
There's a US 2500 application fee ( previously free) and a visa fee of US125/year (US 25/year prior to 2022) plus other fees. A health check and criminal background check is required.
Supposedly they wanted to attract a better quality of applicant. They had virtually no one bite. In fact they are losing the older recipients whose visas are coming up for renewal. Last year they lost 2000 visa holders who opted not to renew (plus their dependants). That was about 80-90% of the visas issued a decade ago.
Unless the new government flips the program their bleed old applicants and will have no new ones. That's a loss of several billion dollars a year in expenditures, fixed deposits, property and car purchases, health care, insurance, and if the kids are in school a major base of support for international schools.
The East Malaysian States have a Constitutional right to operate their own immigration programs...and have retained a Sarawak MM2H and Sabah MM2H that remain affordable and easier to qualify for. East Malaysia is less Islamically influenced and is more multicultural and relaxed. It's also predominantly English speaking (at least it's the Lingua Franca) and has more nature and cultural tourism. Less hung up about alcohol. They do have 5G in the cities

Digos is also very nice, just saying.
All I can suggest to anyone contemplating Jakarta, KL or BKK is that you need to spend at least a month in your chosen city. If you are under 35 and you have a decent budget, these cities may be everything you are looking for - just take the claims of foreigners living on 300 baht a day with a grain of salt. Assuming you don't spend the entire month partying, you will begin to get a feel for the pros and cons of these crowded cities.
In short the best cheap and relaxing place to live in asia is ASEAN region :)
There’s been a lot of hype about Sri Lanka lately. It has nice beaches with a busy road alongside them, crazy and very polluted traffic, men standing around everywhere, dirty restaurants hotels and guest houses, no convenience, peanut butter at $8 a jar, overcrowded public transport, dangerous roads, noisy, polluted,. Look, the people are friendly and there’s nice wildlife

@Nod Carillo L. -- if some filipinos want to live somewhere else, they are free to do so. We are not a communist country like China or North Korea. I myself would love to try and live in Thailand. Cheap and affordable cost of living food, health Medicare, rent, transportation, entertainment, and important for me is legal use of cannabis so Thailand is excellent for me. Next possibly Vietnam, next is maybe Philippines.
As someone who was born in Malaysia and lived in Thailand, Indonesia and China, the cost estimations here are really for the very frugal backpacker. And it is for 1 person renting a room rather than an apartment. It's doable, just not realistic in the long run. Double the estimates and you can probably get by comfortably as a couple.
Thanks for picking those 3 Provinces!!!!🇵🇭🥰🥰🥰🥰

I choose Philippines with its modern city like BGC,Rockwell, McKinley,Ortigas and many more cities to choose from and with stunning islands like boracay, Palawan, Siargao this are some of the best and no,1 voted beaches in the world oh by the way with its natural Hispanic American influence the Philippines has so many places to go to.
As a Filipino, you would obviously vote for your country.. LoL
You couldn't even afford a month living in Rockwell, never mind living there permanently. Rockwell average rents are around 100k pesos or 2k USD.
Also, Philippines is expensive when it comes to accommodation and transport is a pain as the infrastructure is so bad.

Just returned from Southeast Asia. I realize this info's now nearing one year old, but the monthly rental figures were probably wildly understated even back when this was published. In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, for example, $800-$1,100/month for a decent place would be typical.
What is considered a decent place? Your price is for 2 or more bedrooms. A studio and one bedroom which is what the majority of the population will rent is nowhere near $800 to $1,100 a month. You can get a one bedroom in Da Nang for $200/month.
@@jaiho9442 A "decent place" would be a contemporary domicile in a neighborhood that would be comfortable and include amenities that the average Westerner expat or remote worker would find necessary. $200/month? Nope.

I'm surprised there was no mention of Pattaya Thailand, which is a nice alternative to Bangkok, according to a lot of expat websites.
GAFFL you know what would be a good video to live in southeast Asia is a video on what countiers in southeast Asia a foreigner is able to buy and own land in would be great too.
Why would you want to buy when you can live light and move from one place to another to enjoy and experience them all.

Nice video bro, but the price are increasing everywhere. The living cost for example in Bangkok you show is now the living cost in another not so touristic places in Thailand. Of course man can be always cheaper, but will be no enjoyment.
I think ease of visa/immigration should have been a factor too.
Yep, if you cannot get perm residence in a country, retirement there is risky endeavor.
This would be especially true in Thailand, which has been actively trying to rid itself of expat beggars for about three years now.
@@paulh7798 Permanent residence often entails considerable financial investment. Better to worry about Visa Terms and Renewals.
@@mrc6182 Thailand's yearly retirement visa renewal means the Thais can (will?) kick you out when you become sickly.
I do understand the need for ridding themselves of expat moochers, but who doesn't get sickly and frail when old?
You could end up kicked out at 90 years of age, senile and sickly, with nowhere to go and not even understanding what is happening. Really really bad. That's my #1 reason I won't retire in Thailand.
And I really really like Thailand. If I could be guaranteed permanent residency I'd be there in a heartbeat.
I'm more worried about losing the ability to extend a visa when I'm old and sickly (and possibly senile). It happens and it happens a lot.
Retiring without permanent residence is really risky unless you are prepared to go back "home" and have people to care for you there. I'm not.
Yes, but you never mentioned the problem with visas to live in any of these countries which is the most important point you missed.
I know the answer but I am not telling you, find out for yourself please.
Great
I have a very nice fully furnished apartment in Siem Reap city center for 200 USD plus utilities. I have AC but don't use so my electric and water comes to 11 or 12 USD per month. There are cheaper places in the city but I feel very comfortable here. I imagine you can get better deals wherever you go. My rent in Surat Thani, Thailand was 160 USD per month.
Happy to hear you are happy to live at Siem Reap. Enjoy your life.
For me factors that I would consider are: Ease of Communication, Visa's length, Food/Price & Amenities.
Malaysia or the Philippines is your best bet.
I think Bangkok is the best! Bangkok never sleeps☺
You forgot Pattaya... Bigger than Chang Mai and Phuket with a much bigger business and IT life, and with the best nightlife in the world. And looking at the Thai foot massage index...
One Hour Footmassage:
600 THB - Phuket
500 THB - Samui
450 THB - Bangkok
400 THB - HuaHin
150 THB - Pattaya
(not only are we the COOLEST place to live, we are also the cheapest, Chang Mai is a bit cheeper in some places but dont have a beach and is way too far from a big airport)
so if i wanted a small one bedroom even one room just aslong as i have electric, and to live there for the cheapest where would you move to where would you go?,can trans peeps still get hrt pills
Thailand and Vietnam is my choice
All good suggestions however you neglected one important thing.....visas! As you know, you cant just show up in any of these places & expect to stay as long as you want. There is always a limit on visas for any country however the easiest way around it is if you have "deep pockets" to invest in the country. If not, you may be in for an enjoyable but limited stay.
Numerous job opportunities in Manilla and Cebu City? Are you kidding? Filipinas are working overseas by the thousands because of lack of jobs in the Philippines. Can you explain what exactly you are referencing?
If you retired no need to work right? That's why they are looking for the cheapest country.

Laos would be cheaper than a lot of the mentioned places
I did not get real value out of this video as you don't break down the monthly costs without rent. A digital nomad needs to know what electricity, wifi, water costs & medical insurance are. I'm 60 and still a digital nomad, so a breakdown on visa costs and terms are also important. How do rentals work? How does one purchase property?
@@heardbutnotseen1529 - Then what's the point of the video?
I prefer Malaysia.. It has everything you need.
No way on gods green earth, Is it cheaper to live in Malaysia than Cambodia. A hell of a lot of expats in Thailand are moving out, as it's getting too expensive for them, Cambodia & Vietnam are the two top destinations, closely followed by the Philippines. The main reason for this is that the Baht has been really strong for the past 10 years, especially against the British pound.
Thailand, also, has turned into a bit of a Visa nightmare as they try to rid themselves of "Cheap Charlies" (and who can blame them?)
Malaysia is unique and in the centre..safe and peace.. I love it..
It is NOT the Thai Baht is strong, but the British pound has been in a long decline. The british politicians have screwed up the economy big time.
@@mrc6182shout out to the cheap Charlie's. They are better than the stuck up Jones😮
to be fair, you did say "for cheap"; even then, i think you need to update your video. some figures seem way out. but there are several things you have left out, chief of which is LANGUAGE. typical of western expats to just think of cost without thinking of people, their language, their customs. unless of course you think you can live virtually in an Asian city and have minimal contact with locals who don't speak your language. makes you seem like mercenaries, out to exploit the locals but without having to really live among them as they do.
Is this accurate? Living in Malaysia is cheaper than living in the Philippines?
Maybe?
Reasonable... plus better facilities and infrastructure

I was like, wow. Ok. $100 a month for a two bedroom house. I can do that. No. It was $100 for the whole year. 😂😂 I had weird dreams in that house, though. I heard a story that the big field where that little housing complex was, there had been some kind of massacre by Japanese soldiers during WW2? Who knows. But I saw a snarling dog in my (lucid) dream and my wife said that other people had seen this dog as well. Anyway. Didn't mean to go on about the dream.
