Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau dies after being struck by vehicle while cycling with brother

- Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, died on Thursday night after they were struck by a car in a cycling accident, according to a press release from the New Jersey State Police.
They were groomsmen in theirs sisters wedding which was supposed to be in a few hours. Absolutely tragic and hopefully they can support and console each other during this time.
Feeling so sad for his sister and his family. :(

Another drunk driver kills someone, two people in this case. Given our country’s track record he’ll probably get 1 year, if not a suspended sentence for time serve, then probation. He’ll be driving again with a couple of years at most.

Drunk driving is wrong but were the Gaudreau brothers wearing helmets while they were riding their bikes? Helmets while riding bikes & seatbelts in cars save lives.
They were smoked by a speeding SUV. A helmet wouldn't of done anything. They would have needed body armor.

From the reports I read they were on a backed up rural road and this drunk driver was trying to pass the SUV ahead of him who gave right of way on his left for Johnny and his brother who were riding their bikes. My hypothesis is they both got sideswiped as this SUV tried to move ahead. The Gaudreau brothers likely both went flying and died after hitting their heads hard on the pavement especially if not wearing helmets which most people don’t when riding bikes unfortunately.
Even if they were wearing full hockey gear it probably wouldn't have mattered.
