- Naxos Records has recorded a CD featuring Marcin Dylla, the winner of the 2007 GFA (Guitar Foundation of America) Guitar Competition. Here he plays "Junto al Generalife" by Joaquin Rodrigo. Produced in Toronto by Norbert Kraft.
1st met Marcin here in Buffalo NY when he returned the following year after winning the Faletta competiton and coming to play with the Buffalo Phil. He did a special pre-concert at WNED studios in honor of the Polish Festival .Got a nice pic with him. Very nice person. Looking forward to his return here on October 25 for a concert.

Marcin is a wonderful musician. He actually lives what he plays, always. He is physically engaged into the piece. He uses marvellously the language of the body to convey the essence of the piece, as if the guitar and the music-making dont't finish in his hands. He works on the strings with both the sensibility of a poet and the spirit of a woodworker. He is able to communicate music, which is a rare skill. He plays like a great actor which is totally absorbed in his role. He is unique.

When you're winning competitions and playing concerts all over world as Marcin Dylla is, luthiers want you to play their instruments and will make it work for you. Also, Teryks' guitars aren't exorbitantly expensive relative to others. . .
He started when he was seven years old.

I've seen a lot of people playing the passage at 4:14 this way instead of the way it's written. Both ways are beautiful, but I wonder where (or who) they got the idea from.

i caught marcin in orange county for 7 bucks! It was the best seven bucks i've spent in years! This guy is on some other level and just a polished performer and musician.

It goes without saying that you were very obviously not HEARING the same performance I was hearing, no, that were impossible. I hope you have the opportunity to hear the actual performance soon.

ya trick is to do it SLOWER, everyone speeds their tremolo so fast it gets sloppy, i like it better like this. clear

This sounds amazing in red cedar, but I think he prefers spruce. Nothing compares to the warm sound of cedar tops.
He is still using a Teryks guitar, though this time it's a cedar top.

Wow, that was very impressive!!! What a great player. Great technique, and he put so much feeling into it, and it shows. Watching someone like this is very inspiring. When you watch someone play and then you want to run and pick up your guitar and practice, then you know that you watched and listened to someone special. Great job!!

This guy came to my guitar one class in high school today and it was the most incredible thing I've ever seen live.
