I like letterboxd becuase it's really easy to find new movies I would of never heard of through lists, and other reviews. Also finding new movies in a specific niche is really great for that too because of their nano genres.
exactly, i have a list of about 2000 movies and most i would’ve never found. It’s so easy to look through actors/directors movies and find random rabbit holes
I HAVE THE THING FOR YOUUUUU!! I actually made a Google sheets that I've used for four years (this is the fourth year) of everything I've watched bc it's easier for me and it connects to all devices bc it's Google! I'm happy to share the template with you!
The reason why letterboxd is essential for movie enjoyers is that it shows you many films that would be out of your bubble if you follow 10 people who might have the same favourites then when they watch a thriller they rated 5 stars you can do a face value research and put it on your list etc. I think you are definitely going to miss out on that if you have an echo chamber inside your notes app especially reading other peoples reviews and taste can combat your own takes
I haven't really had an issue discovering films outside of my usual tastes. I hear about movies from word of mouth, a variety of social media pages, UA-camrs, and occasionally scrolling through the movie theater apps to see what's playing. The key is actively seeking things to watch, even when it seems like there's nothing interesting playing
When it comes to film criticism there has been a lot more toxicity. It's not the majority but even on Twitter, there's a lot more negativity in the discussion of movies. Happens a lot around award season too where people switch up and start trashing movies that get nominated

you dont need to review a film on letterboxd. you can watch and log something without writing a review for it
also you dont need to rate it out of 5 stars. you can choose to not rate it
When you log movies can that list be set to private? Also being on the app in general still wouldn't be great for my screen time 😅
@@ChrisCherrie yes, lists can also be set to private
Thank you for the clarification

Oooh I would like to see it! Shoot me a dm on Twitter or IG @thecherrieberry
Nothing beats good ole fashioned pen and paper.
have you tried IMDB to track? i started tracking last year and use the list features to create my own lists.
I actually use IMDb a lot for researching movies and shows! I never made a login since I'm usually just browsing
interesting take. I appreciate your point of view.
Thank you!
Love hearing your thoughts! You have a great presence

From your video i have understood that movies arent your priority , if it was there would haved have been letterboxd downloaded on your phone.
with all due respect, how does one “doomscroll” through film reviews?
