Nice video. I did Vancouver to Calgary in economy class back in 1986, but 4 days would be too much - particularly for an older traveler. I booked a cabin for 1 for my trip from Toronto to Edmonton this winter cause an old guy needs his meals and showers! LOL
Great Video. I'm excited to go through the rockies and sunrise in Jasper when I go. I went from Saskatoon to Toronto in the summer and loved it. Bought a Canadian rail pass for $779 and went from Toronto to Halifax already, going again next week and then I am doing the Toronto - Vancouver and back trip next month. Highly recommend getting a rail pass if you have a 30 day window to travel. Prices go up a little if you want more time to use the pass. Great value.
@@PatrickHobley Yes when you move into towns and cities you will have mobile network. Thats how I continued posting updates on my fb travel page. If you want to do this partially then you can try the Jasper to Vancouver section. Thats the one that goes through the Rockies. Its often called the highlight of the whole journey. I have written a blog post too about this if you are interested to know more.

hey hey great video thanks, so in eco class you also can enter the panorama car? right. And there are stops in between, where you can get out of the train, how long are the layovers around? 1 to 2 hours?
Yes you can enter the dome with your economy ticket. Yes there stops where you can get out of the train. Its usually at the big stations like Winnipeg or Saskatoon. Max stop is 3 hours. It varies from place to place. Saskatoon had a 2 hour stop if I remember. You can get a complete schedule from the Via rail website.
Thanks a lot sirr, i'll travel from Toronto to Vancouver in Spring, can i walk all the way to the back or just in dining section and dome? Food is just snacks? Can i take some noodles or something with me? Thanks a lot
Thank you for posting this video. I am thinking about taking this trip with a 3 month old and 6 year old in 2nd week of October in Economy class because current sleeper price is $3k per person (outrageous). They are both short. Do you think it's possible to ask the staffs to turn four seats facing each other and make them a small bed for the two kids? Is the train empty enough to ask the staff to help us turn a few more seats facing each other so the adults could have a more comfortable sleep in Economy as well? Would it be manageable that way?
The seats cannot be turned though in the middle of the carriage the direction of the seats changes so you have 1 area where the seats face each other. You can maybe request the conductor while boarding to give you the seats in this area but its not guaranteed. The seats cannot be moved in anyway. I have some people sleep on the floor in the narrow pace between seats in some areas but this is rare. I hope you have a good journey and please share how it went.
This is on my bucket list but it’s really expensive and idk if I can handle being in a seat for 4 nights 😬. Btw do you know how that passenger got a discount?
Worth mentioning you do get 15% off economy, 20% off berths (sadly not available right now due to COVID), and 10% off Sleeper Plus on this train if you have a CAA membership. Even if you don't drive, it's worth having - some branches will offer a special membership that doesn't offer roadside assistance for cars, but with all the other benefits for around $20/year. Though if you're going to do this, I might suggest doing Vancouver to Edmonton seeing as that part will be the most scenic. Don't do the other way around because the train often gets delayed and then you might not see as much scenery. You really should save up for at least an upper berth - for when they can sell them again - or even better a single bedroom.
@@razzaqmohammed CAA is basically the Canadian version of AAA - American Automobile Association. In some regions they have a membership that doesn't give roadside assistance but has all the other perks and it's very cheap - around $20/year. I know the local branch to Toronto - CAASCO - has it, but does not advertise it. You have to call in and ask for the "A La Carte" membership and its around $25/year.
I'm thinking of doing this and I was so confused as to weather the train is in continuous travel or stops overnight. I see that there are two bathrooms for economy class but no showers eh ? That blows.... still, I'm pretty set once they resume in May . How was the sleeping ?
So the train stops at major stations for an hour or so in some cases but no overnight stops. Its continuous travel. Thats the fun part. Yes no showers in economy. And no sleeping berths either. I just sat on my seat. I saw some people find spots to lie down on the floor and te conductor did not mind.
Thank you! I did not ask actually though I am sure it wont be available. I stuck to Vegetarian options. The Veggie Burger was out of this world! Food is not a problem.
Seat is assigned by the conductor when you board the train. Depending on the number of people onboard they start with allotting one person per 2 seats.
Hey do you know anything about using your phone as a mobile hotspot? Can you do that on this train to get internet to your laptop? I'm thinking mostly about northern ontario
There are regular somebreaks. Whenever a brief stop would be coming the conductor would go around informing everyone that people who want to smoke can do so at the stop.
That was an amazing one. I should definitely try this journey. I love the white views.

any tips for the journey in economy? I see tickets for $291. I'll bring oatmeal and a blanket.. would u do it again?
I would love to do it again! I would say just make plans on how to sleep. Bring whatever makes it comfortable for you. That's the only difficult part.
Thanks for the advice! I think it's best to go some time during the summer since you have the most day light.
Hey do you know anything about using your phone as a mobile hotspot? Can you do that on this train to get internet to your laptop? I'm thinking mostly about northern ontario
Usually these train routes go through very remote places. Getting a network signal there is difficult.
hello, could you tell me how much is the ticket?
It varies from time to time. I got it for 500 CAD. One of the people I met on the train got it for 200 less.
How much did it cost in total for your solos ride?
500 CAD for the ticket and around 150 CAD for food and snacks. Thats it.
how long is the delay?
Delays are uncertain. Sometimes very long sometimes not so much.
How was the wifi?
There is no wifi on this train.
Its a little bit hard trip for smokers 🚭
