calling these gifts "odd" shows a sense of superiority by the people who made this film. there was nothing "odd" about these gifts. the church is worldwide. if the pope is the leader of people around the world, it is not "odd" to expect some reflection of various cultures. these people are all making theses gestures in a spirit of friendship.

I can just imagine how those juvenille attack that chocolate egg..ha-ha! I think they know that the Pope receive a lot of gifts none of which were ever received not for his keeping, but for the church...just like the treasures the church accumulated through all these centuries. I wonder if we will see that steel, ruby studded gigantic egg in the Vatican museum, not that it represents the church. Better yet, maybe the Vatican should create another museum solely for the non religious gifts they received from the head of state that visited the Vatican.
You are being completely ridiculous. Alcohol is not unbiblical and it definitely is not disallowed. It's the ABUSE of alcohol that is condemned. Is sex condemned? Is drinking condemned? No, it's the ABUSE of things like sex and drinking that are condemned.
