Minecraft 1.18 Survival Farm Tutorial Series
Really hope you get something from these farm designs. Easy starter farms for you to use in Minecraft 1.18 Java edition (Iron Farm doesn't work in Bedrock I am afraid!). Have since found that the original design for that Iron Farm is from Ianxofour - so credits to them for that awesome Early Game Farm, I have added their channel to the description.

I use this iron farm. You don't need the water or the hopper to start the farm. Once you have enough iron (few minutes) for a hopper and bucket you can upgrade to have it collect the iron for you. Also make sure you aren't building it near a cave that the golems can spawn in.
the iron farm is cool, you actually dont need a name tag because mobs in boats dont despawn (java 1.18.1) so thats a nice early game thing if you cant get a nametag.
i was gonna say the same thing, nametag is overkill here
i have had mobs in boats despawn in 1.18 java. also had villagers dissapeared from boats. so i gotta agree withe useing nametags to be on the safe side cuz wierd stuff hapens
@@kevincamps4817 vanilla minecraft? unmoded? thats odd, ive been running this farm for like weeks already and the only thing happening to me was a villager turning into zombie because the boat was too close and then a baby villager running up and down the stairs because of 2 villagers left and 3 beds equals sexy time

honestly an early iron farm, almost no matter how simple is super valuable.
Also you don't need to nametag the zombie in the iron farm. Ianxofour explaines this in his original video of the farm, as he came up with it. The boat prevents despawning allready. Nametags aren't exactly early-game after all. :D
Nametags can be early game with a simple fishing pole.
@@AdamantJedi 5% chance for treasure and then 1/6 chance for a tag. Even with afking 4 nights with a fully enchanted rod I didn't get a single one.
@@nonyabisness6306 It is dependent on RNG. Far easier to use the boat but it is still possible to get nametags in early game.
OR if you are in survival all u have to do is throw a dirt (or any block) if the zombie picks it then it will never despawn. Try throwing the blocks 4 -6 times (most probably it works for me within 3 times). If not then kill the zombie and try it with another zombie. (NOTE: if you found a zombie that already spawned with an item or block in its hands it wont using that zombie for any farm wont work, it will despawn.) BTW there is a 20% chance for the zombie to pick up an item you throw.
I did chuckle when you made it clear that 4X2 was the same as 2X4 depending on your perspective. That comment earned a like even if the farm had been rubbish!
For the ianxofour iron Farm designe u dont need to use name tag, mobs on boats dont despawn
I strongly recommend building a villager breeder before building any farms that involve villagers. Even without villager-dependent farms, it's a good idea to have a breeder set up right away so that the village you found them in will not get depopulated into extinction in the first couple of nights.
A simpler way to deal damage automatically to mobs in a mob farm is to put a campfire on top of the hopper. It can be lit with flint and steel, and it can be put out with a shovel, leaving the logs which will act like a slab. Much easier to switch between an auto-kill loot farm and a manual-kill xp farm.
I recognize that iron farm. Ianxofour and that farm is my standby for iron. Never fails to work and you can make it before you sleep the first night.
FYI if you add three snow blocks in front of sticky pistons at the back of the killing chamber on the skelly farm with a lever to retract them, you can get strays.
Shout out to Ianxofour for the early game iron farm.
Good video with good starter farms.
However, there is one small thing to improve.
A mob spawner, spawns mobs in a 9x3x9 area.
If you want to prevent the mobs from spawning on the spawner and put blocks on top of it,
you reduce the spawn rate of the spawner considerably.
A better option is to put a water source on top of the spawner that flows 1 block to each side and border it with open fence gates.
That way the spawn rate isn't affected and the mobs that spawn on the spawner are "washed" down and end up in your kill chamber.
Might want to add in the description that this is Java only method for the iron farm

I LOVE the simplicity of these farms. Truly these are starter farms... So many other 'starter' farm videos I've seen are so much more complex.

These are awesome starter farms! I love how the materials are not that hard to get and you don't need much so they're perfect for when you're just starting out, and they will work on a server too without creating a lot of lag. Plus later on when you do have more blocks to spare they will be easy to decorate, or tear down in place of a larger farm. Brilliant as always, thank you!

What is the need to remove all the beds and job blocks in the village first? Can you put them back after?

You know that cow farm is similar to a bedrock design. I built it once, before I learnt entity cramming wasn't a thing on bedrock. Lol.
Looting 3 was efficient tho. No sweeping attack and all on bedrock.

Chopping up the beds 🤣 absolutely brilliant
I used the iron farm in my build and noticed that golems kept spawning on the other side of where the villagers are instead of in the farm. It kept working but was quite inefficient. I just copied the other side over and now it's producing way more iron. maybe more than a 3x increase because before the golems were spawning and roaming around instead of dying which slowed the spawning on the other side. Now they die quickly and respawn quickly as well.

Skeleton farm looks pretty easy to modify into a Stray farm as they have a better loot table.
8:15 To make friends with cows simply walk towards them with a little bit of weed...

I been playing minecraft a bit on switch and struggling to think of what to build. (Creative, super flat world) do you have any build ideas? I'm wanting to try stop using those tutorials on how to build certain things because if I don't start building with just my mind I will never get good and get no practice :c
hiya GG - to build out of your mind... just graba pallete of blocks that you like and start to lay them down. Build a wall first, see if you like it, then make it into a house, or a tower, or a castle. Let the blocks "speak" to you

"From the village close by." Lmao imagine ever having the luck to spawn anywhere near a village. I can go for hours in every direction in my latest few worlds and not ever see one. I have no idea how people are finding villages so frequently.
There's a simple mod to spawn in a village every time if you don't mind adding a little modding.
P.S. should be one for both Java and Bedrock if I recall.

You can make an iron farm with 20 villagers undergound, some beds and fleycher tables and above it a watertrap with lava. There's some great vids of it!

Bedrock is different for Iron farms. Check out Old Guy's tutorials for how villager mechanics work on Bedrock. The others should work fine for both Java and Bedrock.

The other two do though!! If you break the block attached to the top of the spawner but leave the other two above it you'll get slightly better spawn rates.
the skelly and cow farms will - sadly, not the Iron Farm
why doesnt the golum spawn on the grass?
i think the golems only spawn within a certain block radius of the villagers, so the lowered section with the water is the only viable option for them to spawn. the grass section might be too high

Okay, built this but my golems are spawning outside the fenced killing area... What have I done wrong?
You in bedrock? Cause the golem spawn area is bigger in bedrock. Avo does Java videos. I really wish he would say at the start of his videos if it’s Java only. I’ve said that more than once.
Deffo in Java. Wondering if it is being affected by the village nearby, about 80-100 blocks away, still got some beds there but should be well out of range...

My iron golem farm isn’t spawning golems for some reason….
I built the cow farm but the cow won't go into the hole. he just moves all around it. Frustrating.
They can be frustrating... but they WILL go in eventually
@@Avomance I gave up on it. I just made a pit similar to an iron farm with water that washes mobs to lava. I just hold wheat and the cows jump right in. Not quite so compact as this but it works.

@Rcjanko ps3, Xbox, Nintendo, mobile are all bedrock. You can play bedrock on pc too but Java is pc exclusive. This iron farm will not work on bedrock. Look up out bedrock iron farms. Prowl is my personal favourite. Good luck. Have fun.
