  • In this gold hunting video we head to Deep Creek in the Gympie Region. This QLD gold prospecting area has been set aside by council to promote Gympies gold fossicking history from 1867 where the discovery of gold near the Mary River sparked first major gold rush in Queensland.

Woah! I’ve been thinking of trying deep creek but this has made me totally hopeful. I wasn’t sure there’d be as much as what you found. Nicely done mate!

Cool. Is it true that even just highbanking with a small hb/pump is illegal in Queensland now?
So only river sluices are allowed?
(If so, that's some nanny state bs!) 😒
Mate if you ever down central Queensland like the general Townsville region and need a good place to detect or prospect, feel free to hit me up.
I've got several rather large private properties in that region and most of them produce gold.
One in particular the largest is seemingly VERY gold rich, and largely untouched by outsiders..... I'm only a casual but I've pulled many large and very beautiful nuggets from it with detectors with minimal effort or know how, literally every time I've tried.
Not many places like it around any more really..... I guarantee it'd be a worthwhile and enjoyable hunt. 😉

It's not the highbanker that's illegal here in Qld, it's the petrol or elec pump that we can't use. Can use a highbanker with gravity feed ( you fill the feed by hand) or foot/hand pump operated. I agree, Nanny state BS indeed :(
You're blessed if you've got access to private property that produces, half your luck mate. You're right, not many places like it around any more, they're few and far between down SEQ here. :( Most of the old spots around me we can't get on anymore, they're locked up in State and National forests :(

I don't think it's done to strike it rich. It's like catch and release fishing. Seems pointless to outsiders 🤷‍♂️

      @iamshredder3587 Рік тому +1

Uhh I'm pretty sure that's not the overarching "golden" rule of gold mining and prospecting so to speak, lol.
Else I'm pretty sure huge gold mines and mining companies and gold rushes and professional prospecting and divers dredging the bottoms of freezing cold seas all day or trecking the harshest most remote places on earth and indeed probably like 99% of gold hunting of any sort would never had been a thing at all if that was the case! 🤪😂
Certainly wouldn't be so many extremely greedy and corrupt ceos like the many I've known at the helm of gold mines everywhere if there wasn't a bucket to be made. ))
i think it depends alot on the individual (or group) and their individual circumstances as to whether it becomes a profitable and successful endeavour for them or not.
And luck (or destiny or blessing or whatever you want to call it) certainly plays a part. There's no doubt abit of a gamble involved. But that's true with most things.
I mean it's not something any lazy homeless alcho bum off the streets for example can take up one day with zero effort or knowledge or capital and suddenly be living like a (lazy alcho bum) king by the weeks end.
Unless they're like the luckiest of unlucky bums ever! 😏
(And even then they'd most likely be a poor homeless alcho bum without a penny to their name again by the following week anyway)
Unless I'm wrong and we've stumbled upon the solution to the world's homelessness and poverty and unemployment problems? 🙃
I do agree however that least to me it seems alot of individual prospectors (and companies too) get abit gold crazy and end up wasting awhole lot of their time and money and lifestyles to find but an insignificant amount of gold! (If any)
And always seems abit strange and I'll advised to me.
Some people really knock their bodies around alot and neglect their health for it too and end up paying a very high price for a meager few flakes.
I think there's quite abit of the "gamblers fallacy" at play in prospecting. Basically the mindset of "I've already put this much time and effort and resources into finding gold so even though I've had negative success thus far if I just keep putting more and more into it surely my luck will turn around and it'll start to pay off in spades any day now!" 🤔🤪
Please, don't be illogical my friends! Logic is your friend. Get to know your friend well and treat him with respect and he'll be a very good friend to have! For life! 😏
Theres also alot of consumerism involved and the idea that they just need all the fancy new gear and the gold will come jump into it and wait for them to scoop it up and cash in! 😄
But no even me for example.... I think I kinda proof of the opposite.
In that im really only a relative noob or casual/part time prospector with limited knowledge and skills and equipment.
However I've certainly made awhole lot more profit from the gold I've found already than the costs of time/labour/ wear and tear/ and resources I've invested to it.... or that i will or could invest any time soon.
(And that's even with my time being quite an expensive thing. Even this msg would've cost me a good chunk to write haha)
Although I dare say I'm a rarity in that sense.
And it's largely due to one....me growing up around gold country and mining family and communities and having a decent starting point experience with it already..... two already having alot of relevant tools and machinery and skillsets to make use of.... and three, probably the most beneficial, having alot of real estate I acquired already around the world including many quite large private properties. Specifically several large properties in central-ish Queensland Australia, several being quite gold rich and one large one in particular being quite a rarity in that EXCEPTIONALLY gold rich and as of yet largely untouched and unworked and unexplored by outside parties! (Or even myself)"
Including by greedy scumbag beuracrats and mining fat cats who are well known in these parts for screwing over landowners to get at mineral wealth on their land. Who'd surely love to get at my land too and have certainly tried... but luckily I've the means to educate them on why it's a bad idea to try messing with my families lives!
(Least have fought them off this far)
Indeed its only now that im starting to take more of an interest and enjoyment in prospecting gold that im really starting to see just how rare and lovely of a gem such land I've been sitting in all these years really is.
And how having a friend take me out with his detectors when bored and finding 5+gram nuggets regularly the whole time, even within just 5 minutes of unpacking gear then packing up and leaving like last time.... really isnt the norm at all for my fellow prospectors. Even for my favourite UA-cam prospecting channels and teachers and professional experts! 😃🤫😉
(Although to be fair my mate who use to take me out prosoecting then was and extremely smart, knowledgeable, experienced and gifted miner and prospector who could seemingly do everything related to commercial or hobbyist mining including heavy machinery, industrial mills and processing plants, and was seemingly extremely good at finding the best gold bearing spots and getting tonit!
Plus he's a licenced high up explosives expert haha which proved more fun fir me personally than anything))
I really don't think I'd do it long at all if I was only pulling out the typical amount I see alot them even pull out most days.
I mean it's not all about the monetary value though either... I've certainly been enjoying it and enjoying getting out in nature and exploring hunting more and more as I improve and gain knowledge.
      Always like geology too.
      And gold. 😍
But alas it wouldn't be enough to keep me doing it if that was the only benefit.
Indeed I've really been very blessed financially and asset speaking in my short years and even with rich private ground under my feet im likely still losing quite a substantial profit each time from time used than if I spent it on my other business.
(Perhaps if I took it more serious and took a larger more commercial operation direction than that would change...but even if did I think there'd be major drawbacks and hurdles that'd possibku price unfruitful.
Not the least being it'd then become more a chore and a job rather than an interesting fun pastime, passion and means of stress relief.
Plus I'm engaged to the most amazing and stunningly beautiful young lady on earth of whom family and her husband is everything and whom I'm planning to about to start our own lovely family (of she's hoping 7+ children haha) . Whom I want to give the world, while protecting them from it too!
So have and will soon have alot more duties and responsibilities to prioritise.
But finding alot of nice beautiful natural qld gold should help me to retain abit of that me time to my prosoecting interest. Especially if I treat her to more fine jewlery made from my finds. 🤩😍
Anyway my long winded point I guess is that prospecting for someone in my position may be a far more logical and beneficial and profitable interest to take up for me than say someone living in a small inner city apartment with no assets or experience or good places to go hunt gold and all that.
So it really depends on the circumstances and individual, as to whether yoir claim will ring true or no for them
Ps: if you made it thus far haha then one.... I admit yes ive had a buddies over, by the name of Jim beam! 🙃
And two as a reward I'd like to make the offer that if ever in central qld way and need somewhere to prospect, or just stay and chill even, feel free to hit me up.
No charge, my treat, accom and living costs Inc even.... long as want really , bring family even, whatever.
Keep what find. (Within somel reason maybe haha)
I dare say you won't regret it and would find it quite memorable as well as profitable. 🙂
Maybe just throw us a few pointers or advice or bit of company from fellow enthusiast in return even.
