John Roy I went a day ago and when I got to the top it was my girlfriend and I and only a few other people. Clouds rolled in and we were eventually all alone at the top it was unreal
Awesome video. Like'd and sub'd. P.S. Monadnock has more secrets. There's a wildcat that lives in a natural cave/crevasse near the top. You may find deer, moose, snakes, rabbits, foxes, turtles, eagles, vultures, etc. on Monadnock. My favorite time to hike the mountain is at night, because if you get to the top on a clear night, you can see the lights of Boston.
I know where the cave is located. I got there once with my summer camp group. Too bad its all burnt out now. It used tohave a nice bunkbed built into it. We also found a corn snake living in the frame of the bed.Camp was Camp Union / Otter Lake Conservation School i think in the summer (July or August) of 1976 or 77.
Can you see the tall buildings of Boston like the Prudential Center? I use to work there when it was first built. They say you can see Monadnock from there but I was never able to id it.
Great little video of the secrets. Thank you for making it. I was there with my brother two weeks ago. Wondering, did you find Mose's Spring, with its famous granite inscription, right behind the old half way house?
No signage unfortunately, I had in my notes that it was on the southern face about a half mile from the summit on the first night of his 1858 trip and the second night on the northeast shoulder near what would become the Pumpelley Trail
As recently ( ! ) as the early 1960s, there was a little snack bar at the summit, where you could buy cocoa or coffee.
I'm going to that mountain real soon to camp at will my beautiful troop! They are opening up camping early just for my troop, can't wait!
I hiked Monadnock three times, great views. There was always is a crowd on top, you got lucky. I didn't know about the secrets.

If the air is clear & dry enough, you can see the skyline by day. Also from the top of Pack Monadnock, which is a bit closer to the coast.
Nice 👍 thoroughly enjoyed
Hey Matt, this was my favorite video from you so far! I need to hike that mountain again!

You can! They're really small, but you can see them on a clear day.

I passed right by it when taking the Thoreau Trail and didn't even think to include it, I'm kicking myself now!
Where is Thoreau's campsite? Is there signage for that one?

I don’t know if this is it but there is a sign labeled Thoreau’s seat on one of the trails
I am now determined to find this location, already got a few hints From the video, going this week
Good luck, stay safe, and leave no trace. Let me know if you succeed!
