10 Second Bluebird, BIG TURBO & 3.5" Stainless Steel Exhaust
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Today on The Skid Factory We're swapping out the GTX3584RS on Timmy's Turbo VQ35DE Datsun Bluebird for a larger G40 turbo.
To complement the bigger turbo we're also fitting a GFB EX44 Wastegate and fabricating a 4" into 3.5" Stainless Steel TIG welded Exhaust system.
Timmy has featured on the show many times helping us out with wiring and showing off his Datsun products from One Six Industries. He has a couple of cool Dattos and since we were doing some work on this one for him we thought we'd show it off before getting stuck into the job.
The Current setup consists of a VQ35 bottom end from a Nissan Elgrand with Wiseco Pistons and Eagle Conrods mated to VQ30 Cylinder Heads with HKS MLS Gaskets, ARP L19 Head studs and VQ35 Kelford Camshafts and Valve Springs.
Previously Timmy had fitted a GT3582 (Too small) followed by an BW-S362 (A bit lazy) and it currently has a GTX3584RS (Turbine to restrictive) Timmy's always looking for more and ever-evolving vehicle hence why we're changing out the turbo for a larger option and upsizing the exhaust to go with it.

Sometimes that includes a steering rack conversion, Other times it's as simple as bolting on some wheels to our daily drivers. Don't forget that working on cars isn't easy and can be dangerous. Use Ya Brain and take the necessary safety precautions whenever you're modifying your car. Consume Lemon Squash responsibly & Thanks for watching. #DATSUN #VQ35DE #TURBOV6
Al playing the pipeaphone was hilarious woody. More of that please 😂😂
That killed me I was laughing so hard
Sick After Effects roto Woody, your editing continues to evolve!
Shivers that was good!
Does Al take requests? This 80's kid would love some Wham!
🤣🤣🤣
You've got a big heart Al. Your comments about the importance of mental health and looking after your mates is a good one.
and so true at the same time, I feel like we don't hear that much these days, fortunately skid factory and mcm forward the message
I’ll never get sick of watching the skid factory, ever. I learn at least one thing new, the banter is great, the editing is forever improving.
You guys are my favorite car show, period.
Add good tunes❤
What an amazing performance from Al on the Downpipeophone!
Great work on the editing side Woody!
Thanks for the quality content gents!
The down-pipe-a-ma-phone.... BWAHAHAHAHA
Great message about helping a mate Al! Mental health is so important and so rarely discussed.
Roger! He's looking good. People don't know this but Al was the sax player in the 80's film, The Lost Boys.
This is just what I needed after hearing the absolutely tragic news of Ken Block's passing. Thanks for all the great work you guys do to bring us such high quality content, week after week. EPIC SAX INTERLUDE!
The downpipe sax solo cheered me up after a stressful day. Thanks Al and Woody!
Love the fact you mention mental health and helping your mates. Great stuff. Love your work guys.
20:57 Im a specialist MH clinician. Al is so right. Thanks for promoting (especially as a bloke) MH support for your mates! 👍👍
Mates helping mates is going to be very important in the near future.
Lovely sentiment 💪🏼
I love TSF. And, I especially love it when Al claps back at ‘white kids from The Switch’ 😂
*Ipswitch
@@mattmanslim Ipswich* 👊🏻
The bit at the end about helping ya mates is bang on it’s also good to help these builds hit the streets and out of the sheds I’m guilty of dragging ass on mine… good mix of content too cheers to a lemon 🍋 squash 🍻
There's nothing like a splash of Rexona 48H to keep you fresh during a big turbo build!
The hanger compensation plate explanation was spot on Al you now know it is described as a compensation plate
Al and Woody, thank you. Ive just secured my own shed and an currently fitting it out. Youve give me such inspiration to chase my dreams. (Bit mussy, but real guy)
Ecuse the spelling...
Love the mental health tips you throw in.
Its important for aussie men
Woody, your editing skills and humour are rocking it dude and Al, I could listen to you talk engine stuff all day. Nice guys!!👌
The part where Alan is playing the instrument/ exhaust is probably the best few seconds of film in history 🤣🤣
« Give me a lemon squash »
« Please »
Is quite a good exemple of the iteration of a request 😂
Nice work guys, as usual.
6:31 That lump hanging down in the floor near the seatbelt is easily 'massaged' to pop up the other way on the 910 Bluebird shells for exhaust clearance.
That was how we tucked the 3" up nice and close to the floor on our SSS TURBO rally car. It make a straight pipe from the engine dump to the bend for the diff 👍
That was the scariest Merry Christmas I've ever been wished.
Loving the 80s synthwave build montage Woody
Had a 9.91sec U13 Attessa, Stroked SR20det blacktop to SR22det, 4ITBs, 5 speed manual and lots lots more. Built in 2008, 631hp at all 4 wheels. Was very fun, love the old school Datsun though. Cool car 😁
Stripped interior to be clear.
That's a staunch SSS
Best show on the tube!! Al's not as giddy here as he was at the track😛 was fun watching him nervous, great work!!
Gaffer tape can pull the glass fibre out of your skin.
And, chop suey is a great song!
Finally caught the label on the box of "Lemon Squash". XXXX Gold might be a PITA to find here in Hawai'i though.
Great comments about mental health Al help out a mate and bring a lemon squash all ways a good time in the shed with a few of the boys.
System of a Down in the outtakes 🤘🏼 nice one boys!
Good to see ya back boys, been hanging out. Yoda dumpin' some Sax was pure gold. Can't wait for ya Summernats content!!
What are his b pillar trims like? If they’re in good nic would Timmy be happy to get them 3D scanned to help out the 910 community?
I love watching The Skid Factory. You guys are my favourite car show, period.
Great ep guys. Looked like you were having fun too!!!
Nice! Just got a 3.5" exhaust for my Astra VXR which should eventually be a 2.2L stroker - not many people using that size so it's cool to see some more examples
AL just ripping up the stage *crowd goes wild*
Cheers to that brother 🍻
Keep up the good work lads. Nice to see some Datto and VQ turbo action. Like the droopy tip but not having it in line with the notch in the beaver was messing with my OCD!
3.5" tip would struggle to even fit there after you pie cut it from muffler to the wheel arch area,
It's a weird arrangement made for a 1.75" pipe out of a vehicle specific muffler.
Keen to see this at the track. I'm the middle of welding up the new manifolds for the big single going on my 370z. Was twin turboed for last 4 years zero issues but after more power and bling like timmy 👍
My grandparents had a Datsun blue bird long roof years ago. Canary Yellow. Cool bananas 🍌 😎
Was that a little Woody at the end? Impressive - well done young man!
Great work on that Sax Alan. Love your work on the cars boys. As always.
Nice Guru Josh impression Al.
We all remember The Pipephone Tour of 2022! Magic! 🎷🎶🤟🏻😎🤘🏻
the sax solo was gold!
best ep yet, editing on point!
I can't believe how quickly you managed to plumb that wastegate back into the down pipe 😆
Builds are fun, but really liking the variety of content latley guys.
I appreciate that he's making fun of the SR20 even as he works on a VQ
Amazing content and just wicked dudes all around. Best genuine car guy channel by far
13:55 Billet is better because the casting is one single block, which is not only easier to cast but also more stable. Casting a complex shape means the grains run in all directions which creates grain boundaries and they can cause major issues. A large regular shape has a much more regular grains structure, this makes the material much stronger as there are fewer grain boundaries.
Turbine blades for the SR-71 engines (J-58) were directional metals, which were "grown" so that all the grains are in the same direction and it can withstand the forces exerted on them. The growing was done with very complicated casting methods.
American Scientist has an article called "Each Blade a Single Crystal" which explains this in-depth.
Just notice Kramer in the background haha you guys are awsome keep u the good work
AL, the human Thesaurus! Hidden talents
Yes! Some quality time with the skid factory!
I'm gonna turbo my VK45 because of you Allen!
Only if you call it a VK30
Great video. Good to have a chat to you at summernats.
Good to meet you mate.
I almost forgot to like the video thank god I came back. Love you fellas always doing amazing work!
Just what i need for my rally car exhaust, a Benny clip. Thanks for that... Had to use steel zip ties to get me through the rest of the racing.
One of your best lads.. laughed a heap and loved watching it.. pumping the oil into the turbo .. I wet myself..
And Al.. well said mate !!
Al killing it in the outtakes with the pink on stink...QLD life, leave the house smelling like roses get home smelling bag full of Bum holes. AKA the working man's curse...!!
Loving the dump pipophone and the fart squeaks, keep it up Woody x
20:35 That's why your the YODA. Word's to live by. Bless
SAX!!!!! So good... Love the car and can't wait to see what it does
22:43 Getting some Max Headroom flashbacks from the 80's here!
You said it the way I do and I have the pipe on my Datsun 120Y (which you guys seen at the last all Asian day) 😂 love ya guys work 🤟🏼
@ 10:53 every white kid from Ipswich that knows everything about Japanese culture was heading out to find a large rock to crawl under until end of days!
Al, that was best preemptive take down EVER!🤣Very, very well done.
Oh, and by the by, great, and sensible, update on the little Datsun.
I like that it works just as well if you're from Ipswich in the UK :)
Who doesn’t love a bluebird ?
That exhaust system sounds really good.
so smooth and quiet
Awesome workmanship 😎
Omg a VQ that doesnt sound like ass
Yay yoda!!! And woody killed this one too
Beautiful exhaust sax moment there Al. Well done.
Nice cameo from Duke Silver on the sax 🎷
Awesome, love it although it sounds pretty ordinary. I was expecting it to sound tough and crackle. The go fast bits look great as well as the raceworks parts. They look very tidy. Great work boys now I can't wait to see what power it puts out. Thanks for another great video...
You should have a show down between all the killa builds and owners over the years 😁🇭🇲 Ps Dattos have a special place in my heart 😁 TSF "just kicking goals homies" 😁
I kinda got the hint of a "Friday" reference in the blooper reel there Al, when you were playing with the turbo
The sax man special gave me a good giggle
I like that pipe hanger plate. Smart idea
80's jive was far better than the crying baby music. Also, the exhaust sounds not so bad. Better than most. Cheers.
Love the positive words at the end, good stuff ladz
Quality content lads as always!!
I love VQ35s but don't want everyone to have one cos their still cheap!
It's like the poor mans ls1
Every time I'm in the datto, you in the datto....using up all the fuel, all the psi! I like fuel, I like psi
The editing these days is now tv worthy
Great vid, loving the editing. Keep it up lads! 😂😂
Nice!
We had 15mm dia hail here not so long ago, was deafening in the workshop.
Getting pretty chill Grand Turismo PS2 vibes from the exhaustamafone solo Al
Always look forward to Wednesdays for a new ep!!
Man so bloody good 👍 hanging out for the next one 👌
Would be funny as to see someone do an Allen vs Kenny G mashup remix type thing . Great content as per usual .
I just about pee'd myself when Al got down on the pipeophone!! 😂😂😂😂😂 When's the album coming out?!
That sax solo, I'm dead.
Bless us Turbo Yoda
love your work especially the sax play
The joke about the kid from Ipswich was gold 🤣🤣🤣
The farting oil can had me in stiches, well played Woody hahaha
Tim what a SK!
Oh you
A white Kid from Ipswich had me in stitches
Sick editing with the sax playing. Had me absolutely LMFAO.
Nice editing woody
the VQ35DE seems like a really nice engine to work on
It’s horrible.
LOL I would hang with Al anytime... LOL our sense of humor is similar
Sick singing of some SOAD
