Hi Tina. Personally, I would not work at a casino, especially during the night shift as a woman mainly because I am always concerned about my safety. However, if you want to pursue this, please ask as many questions as possible regarding the position and the club. PS: You have one of the sweetest and most relaxing voices I have heard 🌞

Casino is a transition job. E.g. students or part time workers do it for a short time before they transition to a career. A casino dealer makes wage + tips but this is still less than restaurant waitresses. You deal with different customers in different situations. E.g. people who may yell at you because they lose money. It used to be a career as earnings were higher than other jobs but in the past 20 years, wages did not go up much as minimum wages increased. There are jobs at casino but it is high pressure and high turnover. Your pay depends on how many table games you learn, you have to understand the rules, deal certain cards or count chips within certain time. In terms of the bike, there are construction around Vancouver and Toronto so it is higher chance of getting car tire or bike flat tire from nails.

Hello Tina, Just be careful for taking any job that late in the evening in Canada around that time. It is not that safe anywhere in Canada anymore. You should check why are they hiring? Is it because the safety issues why others have left? Gambling casinos also bring out not so kind people, especially when they drink. People are not very nice when things aren't going their way, especially when they are losing money. No one likes losing money, so you will be a target of some nasty comments there. That time there are many gang related people who frequent those places, they are not nice people and would care less if you are from Japan. Being a foreigner working that late makes you an easy target. There are many other jobs that are safer and not putting you in awkward situations especially you are new in Canada. Ten minutes from your place by bicycle is a long distance. What if you can't ride your bicycle that evening? If you don't feel not so well inside about this job, then probably it's a warning for you not to take this job. Video security you speak of does not prevent crimes from happening, only useful after the incident has happened in identifying suspects. Have you spoken to your parents or homestay parents about this job? I bet they would not like this job either. I may sound over-protective is because I don't want anything bad happen to you or anyone. This is not Japan, trust me. You already know my answer, there are better safer alternatives. It is ironic that I am long time Canadian resident commenting to you from Japan to you in Canada. Having lived in Japan now for over 10 years in Odawara, I am very happy now.😊

Nothing bad is going to happen to a young Japanese woman in Kelowna 🤦‍♂️ why the fear mongering? Especially as you say you left Canada 10 years ago. Clearly you are basing this off of false rumours.
