Hp and torque is not all in the equation it helps for sure but it's all about gearing. You could get a nice cammed 6.2 or the 6.1 or 6.4 hemi and a th400 and be just fine they make more than enough power for a beginner. Good gears lockers 40s and you will be able to make it thru most anything you put it into. Then when you get tired of that move up class
