The San Diego area is a great place to buy succulents. It's a good thing I'm far enough North to not go there all the time. I, too, grow most things in containers and now have a lot in need of propagating and/or re-potting - as soon as our weather improves!
Does your brother watch Laura Eubanks also from Southern California? Design for Serenity is her business and she specializes in succulents! Kevin at Epic Gardening is in San Diego. Seems like they would have similar interests. Great footage of your brother's garden. Beautiful garden ideas!

“Chaos gardening” - I love it! Enjoyed watching this tour of two incredible spaces and hearing about the lineage of all these plants in the greater San Diego area - how cool. I can see the gardening talent and love for plants runs in the family 💚
I know yuccas, agaves and aloes do well in Arizona. As far as other succulents, I think they’d do okay as long as they’re planted in a spot where they get morning sun and then afternoon shade. They’ll probably require supplemental water when it’s really hot (daily or every other day). You might try checking out a local independent garden center near your house, employees at those garden centers are usually really knowledgeable about plants that thrive in your area!
The succulents look stunning layered on shelves - like a little theatre of plants! I’ve just subscribed and look forward to seeing your garden and your channel develop. I have a gardening channel too that you might like - check it out!
