Bitter Wind

A song about the nature of impermanence. I was inspired to write this after walking through my City and thinking about the inescapable reality of everything around me changing, decaying, and dying; sometimes the force of that cosmic current seems so strong it's overwhelming, and terrifying, as you realise afresh that you, too, are being helplessly swept away by it.
For a moment it seemed to me to be like a dreadful and bitter wind blowing against me. But the moment you let go, and embrace it, and let it blow right through you, it becomes neither bitter nor sweet, and you realise that it is only your own clinging to the illusion of permanence that causes it to be frightening.
Some things are forever, like truth, beauty and love. Live in these things, and let what must go, go.
My vision is blurred
