Prepping Wile E For Vacation

- We decided to give Wile E some much needed upgrades. Chris and I are headed to Sand Hollow for a week on vacation and she will be driving it so we can hit some harder trails while we are there. We did exhaust and a transmission pan skid plate. Then we swapped out the madre cylinder for the brakes to a larger one to help the brakes feel a little better on hills. Then we swapped out the boom pulleys and winch lines on Big D. There was 40' lines on it before and we went to 150' on both winches so it can definitely reach out with out needing extensions. All the bends are perfect, it's right where you want it, and then that nut is sitting there on the bench. Mocking you. Laughing in your face. I don't always forget stuff, but when I do it's usually pretty freaking important. Round three here we go. Who's going on the beer run while I tear this apart for the fourth time?

6” cutting wheel on 41/2 grinder,no guard and cut the trigger safety latch off. Now we have perfection.
The only one I've seen using a grinder with no guard is Eric at off road recovery. And he still has all his fingers. Just saying. 😂😂

And once you reach perfection I keep a box of bandages handy.
I've used a 12in cutting wheel on a 4 1/2 grinder many times with the safety guard removed. Gotta do what you gotta do when you need to do it. Safety 2nd lol.
Wear a full face shield. Great for a blow up and it keeps most of the sparks and specks off your face. I speak from experience as a Saw Filer.

Anvil ? Mount a chunk of old Railroad Rail on the table... or somewhere else. Makes a good anvil for what you are doing. Probably should put one on Trail Mater and the other tow trucks.

About the Barrel stove. We have been using a Republic model BK 100 By Vogelzang for almost 1/2 a century. I massaged the top flat on both sides of the 1st strength ring. This accommodates 2 large pots of beans, stew, soup, or whatever strikes your fancy, one on either side.
I built a steel structure to straddle the stove over only one of the flats. It has 4 adjustable legs (up or down) and a heavy steel grate surface to top the legs. If the stove is seriously hot I put it over the stove I set the vessels up on this contraption so they stay hot, but don't burn.
I added stove rope for an airtight seal so I can cram ours full of wood, get it roaring and shut the draft to where I want it.
15 degrees outside, and we're running around the garage in tee shirts and shorts.
Just like down at the beach on the 4th of July in here. 😎

Using a grinder with no shield is no big deal until you wear a sweatshirt with the hood strings hanging down and the wheel catches one of them. Bringing the grinder right to your face…not a good ending…ask me how I know…🤔 I was lucky it hit my chin and didn’t get close to my more vital facial features. Love your channel and you doing what you do…stay safe! 😊

I had a dark green version of that white chevelle in the background. Made a good circle track car back in the day. Bet there is a strickly "stock" class near you somewhere. Welded up true posi and ran 4" of stagger on a 1/4 mile asphalt bull ring. Didnt ever win but was fun as heck.

An old farmers trick is to fill the pipe with sand before bending. Keeps it from narrowing on the bend to a degree .
