We did the Seattle to Brisbane back in Sept/Oct last year. She may be an older ship, but we liked her very much. Luminous like her name, you need to remember to look up, the lighting is exceptional. Very easy to get around. As you said crew and entertainment were what made it so enjoyable. No she doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of a Carnival ship, because she only had a very small amount of leeway to get her livery, when they brought her over from the Costa line. The observation decks up top, and Deck 10 with the long picture windows, were great for viewing Alaska and Japan, on the not so warm days. No water slides to impede the viewing experience, you had 360° view if you managed to get yourself a good spot👍 There were a number of Americans onboard who rubbished it, all I can say is, perhaps the onus is on them, they picked the wrong ship, it is definitely not of Mardi Gras or Celebration class, but for those of us that like a mid sized ship the Luminosa fits that bill very well. She is actually the same class of ship as the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and her sister ship the Costa Deliziosa, they are a combination of Spirit and Vista class.
We have sailed on the Luminosa on the Brisbane to Seattle Cruise twice now. We enjoyed it both times. The ship does need a little work though, but the crew is great. We also really love Brisbane. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Can I ask what model GoPro you used to film this? And what settings did you use? You seem to get pretty good footage in the low light onboard. I normally get a lot of image distortion with my GoPro when filming on ships.
We used a GoPro Hero 9 for this video. We have been using it for about 5 years for our ship tours. It is currently set to these settings: res|fps 1080 120 Lens - Linear + HL HyperSmooth on EV comp 0 White Balance Auto ISO Min 100 ISO Max 1600 Sharpness High Color High. If you need more info on how we record, just ask. We also edit every video in Final Cut Pro. We hope you have good luck in your recording. The fact that I, as a cruise ship nerd, would not have guessed this ship was NOT originally built for Carnival is telling how Carnival-like Costa has become
Carnival has taken three Costa ships so far. The give away is that Costa ships don't have self serve laundromats. Carnival is now in the process of taking some ships that were formerly Princess, but they have the laundromats. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Unfortunately, when the Luminosa leaves Australia, it becomes an American cruise and there is smoking in the casino. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Thank you for posting this, I’m sailing on Luminosa next month out of Sydney, I’m in a wheelchair, so it’s nice to see what it’s like before I sail 🙂
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
If you have not sailed yet, the Luminosa is very wheelchair and scooter friendly, compared to other ships.
