Packaging confusion aside, I really hope the yearly "filler" waves of highly desirable rereleases become a permanent thing. Like sure, you can always make the "jUst ReTOoL ThEM" argument for a lot of older figures, but it's pretty obvious that Hasbro has some internal rule about how many retools vs reissues they can do and what characters are even allowed to be retooled. Since it takes about 2 years (give or take a few months) for Hasbro to design, produce, and ship a wave, I feel that starting two years from now we should start getting repack waves where the only design criteria is "what figures are currently the most expensive on the secondary market that we are allowed to rerelease and that we aren't rereleasing or retooling by the time this wave would be sold."
It would help new hobbyists get their grail figures, it would help the rest of us get figures that maybe we wanted a second one of for whatever reason (like IG-88s stupid degrading rubber bits), since the figures are incredibly expensive, people would be more than happy to buy them for retail from Hasbro, and it would piss off the investor bros. I don't see a downside here.

Love how you guys tangented on the Pokémon Select figures! I managed to collect all three birds as they came out and with Entei preordered I will also have all the Beasts too! Might get the Ho-Oh import model since they never made a large-scale figure for it like they did for Lugia, currently I have my 3 birds flying around Lugia on my shelf and would love to display the beasts roaming around the rainbow bird.
Just a brief moment but I’m a huge pokemon fan! I love the select line but just don’t have a ton of room to display them. I have all 3 birds & dogs now with Entei preordered. Also have Rayquaza, Mewtwo, Typhosion and Tyranitar! -Nate
Figure lines for franchises we don't have- Mad Max 6 inch figures would be awesome but we'd have to get the cars and those would add up $$$
