We can and must do better. Conventionally grown cotton uses more insecticides than any other crop in the world. It is estimated that each year cotton producers use as much as 25 percent of the world’s insecticides and more than 10 percent of the world’s pesticides; an incredible amount for one just one crop.

Moreover the use of pesticides kill the micro organisms in the soil. Goes into the water supply and effects the surrounding area (people, plants, farms). Farmers, farmworkers and their families get ill from constant exposure to these deadly chemicals.
Mungo Mills (GOTS)
In June 2020 I received an email from a South African mill to announce that they are now GOTS certified. They shared the happy news on one of their newsletters. The read more button lead me to a detailed article with more details on the entire audit and the process of getting the GOTS certificate. They describe the entire auditing process as an investment into their future, and rightfully so it is an investment. It is not easy to get the GOTS certificate.

I have moderate ezcema & a number of dye allergies, so I shop carefully. I look for both GOTS & Oeko Tex approval listed on the product. Oeko Tex approval also covers the way products are packaged which can be a source of allergens. Thanks very much for this info!
