- Journey with us as we explore Paris with our two little ones and try to find the right apartment for us as we relocate from the U.S.
It was so fun to find the perfect place to make our home on this new adventure, and making this video reminded me how lucky we were to find the apartment we now call our own!

I have to say that the apartments that you found to be beneath you were lovely and most people would be overjoyed to be able to afford such a magnificent space for a family in Paris where space is so expensive. Plus- you are renting not buying.
I'm not sure when I said any of them were beneath me? We simply wanted to select the apartment that best fit the needs of our family, and we are incredibly grateful that we were able to do just that!
Let's give grace. 🤗
I agree. I also sensed a huge entitlement and massive ignorance. Probably not a lot of self-awareness either. 🙄
I didn't not get that feeling at all! She was rightfully concerned with how the apartments would work for her family in many aspects and how the overall care and upkeep of the building reflects on management. I love the apartment her family chose!
I’ve been there in real life and even I am excited for the home tour 😜 You have put together such a beautiful home, love it! (And glad it worked out for you in the end!)
We've added a few more finishing touches... with about a billion still left to find/rearrange/fuss about with. Home is ever evolving!
You are young and resilient. Lovely apartment.
Definitely looks like you made the right choice. Now I'm going to go check out the apartment tour!
Thank you! I certainly feel that we made the right choice. Although sometimes I can feel that Eiffel Tower view calling.. :D
@TheJackfruitLife Lol! Well, if you need a view of the Eiffel Tower you'll just have to go to where you can see it! 😄 I've never been to Paris - though I've been to other parts of France. I haven't heard very nice things about Parisians. I hope you are having a good experience!👍
I loved the donut apartment 😂
it's really helpful
Thanks so much! Happy to answer any specific questions if needed. :)
Thank you for including the prices.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Bravo. Now for the tour. *(how wonderful your name is, one of my preferred fruits, apart from durian of course, even though they're no relation). Thank you for these wonderful vlogs, how to indulge one's flights of fancy.
I'm so glad you enjoyed them! My last name "Jaquier" is the French translation of jackfruit so that's where I got the name. A bit of whimsy and fun. :)
I actually like the idea of the "donut" apartment. I think it is super cute! But I'm also a single....so, there's that. :)
All apartment hunting would look a lot different if I was single. 😆 But I agree - it's a cool concept and very bohemian.
Very beautiful apartment and decor... what was the plant in the office/guest room... is it a faux and if so where to buy.. my sister lives there...
It's faux, from IKEA.
I think that huge dining room isn't necessary I would use it as a study/ small dining room.
Lovely Apartment choice... wonderful layout and awesome large windows... are these apartments rentals.. happy home❤
These are all rentals, yes!
@@TheJackfruitLife they're beautiful!
All the apartments were incredibly beautiful and you're very lucky to be able to afford living in such spacious and comfortable surroundings. I wonder if you speak French (and by that I mean being able to have a conversation, not saying a few words). My American husband is unable to learn the language or rather feels the world should adjust to him (speak English) rather than the other way around 😂.
Still learning! I have a French tutor once a week and am actually about to do a 30-day intensive that I'm documenting for a future video... It's hard work, but I think worth it to learn! Plus, I live here so I can't expect everyone to adjust to me. :P
I got "i love my son, but he is an accident waitingvto happen. 😂😂😂😂 Was there something about apartments in here?
Ya vraiment que certains étrangers pour chercher encore un appartement à Paris...lol...nous sommes tous partis à la campagne..!!..
I am looking to relocate to Paris. I am hearing horror stories about the apartment hunt. Additionally, I am curious as to the amount of money I need to spend on rent. Any suggestions?
The apartment hunt can be very hard! There are many ex-pat groups on Facebook that you can apply to to crowdsource people's experiences and advice. SeLoger is the best place to find listing - it aggregates from multiple sites. You can also google what you will need to include in your application dossier, but the most important thing will be a CDI, or work contract. It is hard, but not impossible! Just do your research, be prepared, and know what to expect.
Once you have downloaded the SeLoger app, you can figure out what different rental payments will get you. It is a city, so you will pay higher prices, but Paris is not nearly as expensive as some other major cities. :)
Good luck!
