None of the gear inside got wet regardless of not using a drysack that time.

( Same way as the lid, belt and shoulder straps are finished at their perimeter) On their website you can see the fabric on that seams,that hold the MOLLE/PAL webbing to the backpack fabric too, its gettting loose fibers, like the fabric falling apart...( No liner, uncovered inside sewing) Should we be concerned about this issue? i think, over time it will only getting worst. Only with normal use. -I can see that in some photos, the vertical stiching is at the outside , where it holds the MOLLE/ PAL webbing, but in others the stiching is at the inside, making it less fragile.Rocks and friction will break the exterior stiching.Where should we expect to find them if we buy one? Is the interior stiching an upgrade of new modells? -It looks like the snow will stick to the padding fabric. ( Belt, shoulder straps, and back padding). Is that correct? @@chemawatersa377 I actually did a short review of the pack on my channel but didn't cover that. I didn't notice the stitching issue but most packs aren't water proof anyway. We usually waterproof items in our packs separately so this isn't an issue.
@@GruntProof thanks for answering, i will watch the video, i wasnt speaking about the waterproofness, i was thinking, that sewed seams at the interior arent very well finished, like other brands which sew another fabric piece all along the seam at the interior, as i can see , inside/ under the lid that problem is solved . Why not to do the same on the interior in order to prevent the fabrics to loose their structure( even if you burn the end ), with fibers getting out the fabric weaving. At the website you can see photos of the same modells interior , and a brand new bag , with peeling seams doesnt seem to last.

Hi! Question about inside seams: The fabric we use is 1000D Cordura. This is very strong and good quality fabric with a superior PU coating. The coating is not only on the top of the fabric, but it is also inside the cell construction of the fabric and prevent the fibers get loose. We use the same fabric and production style both in professional (military) and recreational use backpacks. Inside seams are not covered by seam tape. It’s not so nice looking but this won’t affect to the durability of the pack. If it would be lower quality fabric, seam tape reinforcement would be necessary. It is therefore a matter of pure practicality issue. However, in the future we are going to focus little bit more also in the esthetic matters. We give 2-5 years guarantee for our products (for manufacturing and material defects) but the products last much longer. Questions about side seam outside: Thank you for pointing this out! Unfortunately, in our website Jääkäri L green has some old pictures. In the black and camo, you’ll see the correct way of manufacturing the outside seam. The stitching is done BOTH inside of the pack and outside, so it’s very strong. The outside stich is extra and it is there mainly for esthetic matter: It looks good as it gives the backpack a firm shape.
Questions about the paddings with snow: The inner surface of the padding fabric is soft fabric to be more comfortable. It is not so furry that the snow would stick into it. We make paddings like this for all our customers, for example a Finnish Defense Forces, and our products are totally proved for arctic environments. Anyhow, we are from Finland and we have snow and freezing cold at winters here 😃
I own 5 Savotta bags and honestly this is my least favorite. Materials, construction, carry system and quality are all top notch like all Savotta gear, that goes without saying. But there are 3 annoying things about this pack. 1 - the rolltop. Fishing out something from the bottom of it is like going on a caving adventure. Without a headlamp almost impossible to find anything. This is the main reason that I will not be getting the XL version, where this problem will be even worse. Too bad the LJK Modular has been discontinued ;) *hint hint* 2 - lack of elastic side pockets. The M has them and so does the XL. Why skip them on the L??? I personally don't use them for the bottles but for sliding in the Skrama, big saw or an axe they are brilliant. 3 - lack of side zipper. The M has it, which is great, even though with its size and the lack of rolltop it is not 100% necessary, but certainly welcome. It would be invaluable on the L, and even more so on the XL. Despite all this it still is a great pack, but it could definitely be better. Basically an upscaled M with the carry system of L would be perfect.
Thank you for your feedback! 🌲 Mostly the reason is the structure and history of the backpack. This structure comes from the Border Patrol rucksack which the Jääkäri L is based on. 1. Hope you still find the bottom zipper helpful with this situation. 2. The zipper of the backpack bottom reaches from edge to edge. And there, at the same place, are the hip belts adjustment straps. If it had a pocket, it’d be extremely shallow and whimsical. There is PALS webbing everywhere - even on the hip belt, which can hold any pocket and this maybe helps to compensate for the lack of the side pocket. 3. Addition of a side zipper would require drastic structural changes, which would also increase the price more than just the zippers price alone.

That was the main reason for choosing it over TT Raid :) that and spartan but still very comfortable padding. For a European made product price is more than fair!
@@Savotta Presence of elastic size pockets like in XL model and reverse U shape opening for the bottom "sleeping bag" compartment is much, much better solution then in L model. And absence of outher pocket on the upper lid is small minus but that I can forgive. So many people notice this and that is the main reason why I didn't buy this model. I love Savotta products and Finnish products in general. I got Savotta Jääkäri M model but this issues are reason why I'll never buy model L. And it's not just me, so many people got the same opinion. And I am genuinely sad about that because with that changes, improvements, Jaakari L would be a perfect backpack. Guy from TheOutdoorgearReview channel explained everything very nicely in his review about pros and cons of L model. I'm just saying this from good intentions.
Love the pack! Considering order. Some brands like berghaus or osprey make packs for tall people. I am more than 200 cm tall and would like to know if the pack would fit me.
This really comes down to the length of your back, rather than your hight. The Jääkäri L doesn't have a lot of room for adjusting the length of the back, so we would recommend the Jääkäri XL for you with much more room for adjustment. In the end, you just need to try what works best for you.

Hei Savotta, I have a question regarding this Rajajääkäri rucksack: On your homepage you say that the hip belt is adjustable in 3 positions. I bought one now and I found out, that I can move the belt upward 2" (= 5 cm) from the factory set setup. What is the 3rd position?
There is 2 lines of PALS-strap. So you can attach it to the upper one, the lower one or the middle with two PALS-lines. Please notice, this lower attachment may be unstable.

Simply, treatment of seams for waterproofing would increase working hours and material costs and so the price would rise. In the meantime, please, use a rain cover.
I look for a backpacking sack, guys. Was long thinking of Savotta Jaakarl L or M. Cannot decide. I'm not huge (177cm/73kg), so having a big backpack may be a waste. Medium sized seems like it can be greatly expanded. Any tips?
Why is it suggested that thinks like cooking equipment and food are stored in the lowest part of the pack? I get it's for ease of access but will this not cause an issue for weight distribution?
I use a bigger sack for the food in the main compartment (mid-section above sleeping pad and bag). I take all the necessities into the bottom that I'm gonna use throughout the day which includes the cook-kit, 1-2 meal bags and a tarp incase of a downpour.
The divider can be adjusted a bit to make room for more stuff, but at its tightest the comparment is ~10 litres. We do however recommend you pack your sleeping bag and other "less hurriedly needed stuff" in the main comparment, and use the bottom compartment for smaller things you need quicker and often, like food, rainwear etc.

Hi! The frame can be used in the way you like it best. The direction of the seam doesn’t matter. However, I would recommend the position where the frame follows your back curves.
How do you like The back pack so gar? Did you had any issues with shoulder straps as I hear they are thin and after few hours of waking you will feel them sticking in your shoulders

M is better for everyday use and shorter hikes. But L is better if you make more longer overnight hikes.

Why don't add zippers for easy access to the main compartment
One of their other jääkäri models has a side zipper for access to the main compartment.

Bottom compartment where the sleeping vag usualy goes
The divider can be adjusted a bit to make room for more stuff, but at its tightest the comparment is ~10 litres. We do however recommend you pack your sleeping bag and other "less hurriedly needed stuff" in the main comparment, and use the bottom compartment for smaller things you need quicker and often, like food, rainwear etc.

Todennäköisesti kyllä, mutta kannattaa varmistaa asia kokeilemalla mikäli mahdollista, koska rinkassa ei ole erikseen selän pituuden säätöä.
Onko ikinä tulossa uutta versiota, jossa poistettu vanhan viat ( ei sovi laihoille, ja sivusta puuttuvat taskut)?
Jos nämä korjattaisiin ostaisin heti.

Hi! The frame can be used in the way you like it best. The direction of the seam doesn’t matter. However, I would recommend the position where the frame follows your back curves.

The back pack so gar? Did you had any issues with shoulder straps as I hear they are thin and after few hours of waking you will feel them sticking in your shoulders
