  • This is Bidadi - a beautiful and scenic part of Karnataka in India, that was once famous for grape cultivation and poultry farming!
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist, or should we say, an agriculturist to know that clean water, is one of the primary requirements for life. And this very basic necessity was scarce
Imagine not having clean water for farming, for consumption, for cleaning - we are talking water, so you can only imagine the number of ways it is useful to us. Imagine your only source of water, being so unfit, that you can hardly use it! Sounds dramatic? Well, it might, but it was the reality of the farmers here
Recognizing the Lake’s significance for the town and its nearby communities, Bosch initiated immediate restoration activities in late 2017! These included key activities like construction of cattle trough outside the tank area, desilting, bund strengthening, shrub clearance, treatment along catchment area, and formation of walking paths, construction of drains, barbed wire fencing, chain link fencing, and plantation among others
The idea behind initiating the project was a part of Bosch’s commitment to preserving biodiversity and working towards the sustainability of the communities it operates in and around. Bosch's values that include responsibility towards society and environmental sustainability, propelled this initiative further. The company held discussions with the Panchayat development officers regarding the activities and also discussed them with the community members before proceeding
The rejuvenated lake will not only benefit the local population for domestic utilities but also lead to recharging of groundwater table and restoring the microenvironment in the surrounding areas.

This is wonderful. Kudos to BOSCH for such an initiative. A concern that comes to mind when Dr Kamath says the local community should manage it going forward. The community here would involve the local leaders who again look at some vested interests to compromise on such a beautiful eco system for their political gains. Chances of such a great effort might go in vain unless any corporate owns the maintenance part through their CSR. Once again bow down to the wonderful initiative 🙏🏼

true there are vested interested in keeping lakes dirty so that tenders can be issued to add lots of crap to the lake every year for eternity, so many fake measures and fake science in India, some morons even think adding fertiliser to lakes cleans them or fermented fruit peels (bioenzymes)

    Lakes became
Ocean of sewage water here in Bangalore ..
We have to save it .. Change it ..
    As clean and safe ..
Putting filters in the entrance of sewage water entry points
    Like big grills
    To remove hard wastages
    Like plastic water bottles
    Thermocol objects
    Cloths
    Plastics objects
    Bags , throwed pillows
balls , rubber wastes, shampoo bottles , shaashes , plastic covers with garbage
Mats , wooden objects etc ..
So we can ensure only liquid
Water is entering into the lake !!!!
    After that
    Have to add
    Corn flour
    And. ucaliptos leaves
To remove germs and bad smells
    To remove contqminations
We have to add starch in lakes
    i.e .. Corn flour powder
So it may reduce soap oil effects ..
And corn flour will obsorb oil from water ..
We have to move the lake water to rivers
For that connect all lake from
Upper land to lower land ..and let it to move ..
So all lake will become pure and safe ..
We have to use under ground pipelines to connect each other.
Sewage water also to be moved through those lines ..
So automatically it will get cleaned ..
And growing herbs near lake will save people
