I've started to grow them with a growing kit. Had 1st harvest few weeks ago, now on the 2nd flush. They are amazing.
Where did you get kit ?
@@hornblowingimp8653
Got it from Marvellous Mushrooms in UK. Lots of companies selling kits.
The intro sound is CATCHY 😊
And presenters voice too 😊
I saw and filmed one in The New Forest a couple of years ago but as you say we are sworn to secrecy as to its location. It is an amazing fungus to see.
Dave, love your channel man. All the best 👍
@@natureisallpowerful Thank you. Maybe sometime we could meet and talk over wild food.
@@DaveKnowlesFilmmaker that would be great,if I'm ever down your way on one of my long distance hikes.or your up in north Yorkshire 👍
Epic find. Congratulations!
I’m one of the lucky people to discover this fungi growing wild in the UK, on my birthday no less! I checked back several times and fortunately it never got collected by anyone
Those glasses are almost invisible pretty cool 😂
Great find! The secrecy is fair enough, just remember to inform the fungal recorder in your area :)
Amazing
I've cultivated some myself, a very tasty mushroom so it's a shame it's so rare.
Would love to see one in the wild some day as they look great even if you're just going to photograph them.
Happy new year. I wish you all the best, but above all, lots of health and happiness
Best regards, Manu
Dave ❤
Rare, i didn't even know that they grow in the UK.
Hello friends😊
Hello :)
Marlon you look so young
haha :)
I got a lions mane kit for Christmas. Going to start it 1st Jan
Make that the 2nd 🤣🤣 last night was very good 🙄
Could we not pick some wild versions of this mushroom and then clone the genetics and reintrousce them into other part sof the UK? Or will the mycelium present outcompete? I know natural genetics are very hardy usually
One on my bucket list to photograph!
Can a cultivated kit be used to repopulate ?
The kits are not from the native strain so should not be used to repopulate and there is debate about whether they should be used at all all the spores will obviously get out. Think grey squirrels..
what about if I pick it and spread it round the forest?
Is it as tasty as a bearded clam?
My understanding is that there is a lot of variability in the flavor of bearded clams, and that some can be quite unpleasant.
Also known as hirstutes bivalvus😂
😂😂😂😂brilliant.
Personally I don't think their flavour is very good so no is my answer. They do make reasonable fake fishcakes though. Taste is very subjective though...
That one looks too old to pick anyways
speak a bit louder, please pal 😉
