P.S. The best part of Lawrence reactions is the reflexive smile. There’s inevitably a moment when the sound just makes the corners of your mouth upturn. You can’t help it. I’m smiling while listening and writing this.
It's two siblings named Lawrence. Plus normally, (I think) 6 other band members who perform with them (not named Lawrence). Except in these acoustic studio versions, where they have guest singers (like 6 to 8 of them normally) and one of those guest singers IS also named Lawrence.
You should get Britt on and blindfold her and have her listen to Don't Lose Sight! Also, you should do Guy I Used to Be, 23, Confident I'm insecure...all acoustic-ish!
Welcome to the family business! Clyde and Gracie Lawrence are siblings that front an 8 member band out of NY. All the other band members have been friends they have picked up growing up, from middle school all the way through Clyde's time in college. Gracie joined full time after HS and they are on album #4 (the second under Bellion's label). Third Lawrence is baby bro Linus who has his own group, but loves to help. A few months back they performed on the Tonight Show, they've opened for the Jonas Brothers this last year and just a few months ago, opened for the Rolling Stones in NY. They have been featured on Jacob Collier's latest album, and Gracie is featured on Meghan Trainor's latest album (Crushin'). As much fun as the songs are, they really really shine live. They do not use any backing tracks, and everyone in the band is multi talented. The Acoustic-ish versions of the songs are a pretty decent example of the live feeling, but these sessions involve singing with a group of backup vocalists that are not normally part of the normal show. Still, fire sessions every time. You could easily just spiral down the rabbit hole with all of their stuff. More Gracie: 23, Freckles, The Weather More Clyde: Guy I used to be, False Alarms, Casualty, Jet Lag More both: The Heartburn Song, Superficial, It's not all about you, Hip Replacement
“Comparison is the thief of joy.” They’d agree with you, and they’ve said as much when talking about the song. We might know it’s unproductive, but the song’s narrator is in that moment when your certainty ebbs and you wonder about alternatives. In this version, the melancholy of the body of the song, feeds into a gospel outro where “I think there’s something in the water” stops being an expression of uncertainty and becomes an upbeat proclamation. Ultimately, this is an anthem to square pegs.
While Lawrence's acoustic-ish takes are fun, they're not the band. Additionally, Lawrence is best heard LIVE. Here's a chance to break out of the predictable, mind-numbing reactor cycle, with a great in-concert rendition of "It's Not All About You": ua-cam.com/video/rklI7xIB_No/v-deo.html

The guest singer Lawrence is their younger brother Linus
