Nice video, I own a 1999 Nimble Wanderer motorsailer. Lived aboard this boat since 2015 after moving up from my 1998 Nimble Kodiak. I love having a pilothouse, especially if the weather turns nasty. My only issue is they tend to pound into the waves due to the flatish bow but the draft of 2'10" means I can run and hide in places others can't reach. That and having the mast on a hinge means it's fairly easy to drop the main mast.I have a 75 hp Yanmar turbodiesel in mine. Runs all day long at about 1 gal/hour. Carries 72 gals total and I would normally run 4-5 days at a time before needing to refuel. Very few of these were built and I'm so glad I own one.
That new Beta Marine engine is worth the price alone; it’s about what it would cost to install new, which it is. This cutie is worth every penny so far as I can see. Sweet find!
I've owned two International Folkboats. The first one I owned had an inboard diesel. Between the drips from the access hatch in the cockpit floor and the stuffing box, there was always water in the bilge. The second one, which I presently own, is the outboard motor version. There is no hatch in the cockpit floor and, of course, no stuffing box. The bilge is always dry.
I sail a Brewer designed Morgan 382. After he sold boats for Cuthbertson, he worked in the design office of Bill Luders, then struck out on his own in Maine. He moved to Washington and then British Columbia. He was a fine designer and a generous man. With his death, we lost one of the last remaining yacht designers who learned their craft during the high point of American Yacht design under the CCA rule. But he was never bound by the rules and most of his later designs are fine examples of solid, well-rounded cruising sailboats.
Goodness, if I had the 16k cash I would buy that boat. It is like the perfect boat for me. @@jlewis4587 In my case it is a 20 liter jerrycan. No mishaps so far:-). I admit that would be a nightmare. But the advantages are great. You can still use it on the hard, very little parts that can go wrong, and you are never exposed to smell more than just human toilet use. Pump out is horrible, pump out mishaps even worse, and a leaking holdingtank.....so gross. And it is not a question if it will happen, but when it will happen:-)
One non debatable benefit of the canoe stern is if you're tied up alongside a dock and the wind comes up behind you, the waves won't slam into a wide flat stern and push the boat around. Another possibly debatable benefit is that when sleeping onboard, the waves won't be slapping against a wide flat stern and making noise. I'm not sure how much less noise it will be thought, but I'll debate that it's probably significant!
I think usually the waves hit slab aft at the back of your boat are hitting the counter, and not the stern most of the time, and even a canoe. Stern has got some counter to it, as it sweeps up from underwater to reform the V at the transom. But I think I would consider that way down the list of reasons to go that way or not. But thanks for your thoughts Mark I love to hear from you guys no matter what and who knows maybe we should go test canoe canoe stern next time🤗
You do find the most interesting boats out there. Price wise this is a steal. The condition looks like a sailaway and with cousins like CnC and Mirage you know it will be fast. Matter of personal taste but for me the composting B52 would have to go but not a big deal. Clean up the spaghetti wiring and you can hold your head high on this one. Gotta agree with you Captain Q.
Errr....What Cousin Jack says.... I love this boat. Thanks to the You Tube God (and Captain Q and Randall) who brought this to my screen this morning. Mmm coffee tho, ~ I save the Mt Gay and Tonic for the P.M. ~ also no "screen time" for me at that point in the day. This boat. Another dream. (Less draft than that damn Hunter 23 in my back yard.). ~~~ This boat ~~~. Just imagine.
At 14:50 in the video, the buttress above the Captain's head looks like it has some water intrusion at the lower end. Is that not a concern? And at 15:10, there is no matching buttress to starboard. Is that strange?
Those "new" alcohol stoves have been arounds for several decades, and were discontinued a couple of years ago by Dometic. I had to go searching in a used boat boat parts store to find a 2-burner no oven version to install in my boat. I'm still not sure why Dometic discontinued the Origo line of alcohol stoves as many old salts seem to swear by them.
I chartered a boat with an Origo stove in 1978. Not new by any account. A little slower that the Kenyons of the day but still would boil water for spaghett.
My sole kneejerk criticism of that boat is what seems like a really awkward placement of that electrical switch panel directly under companionway at the top stair shown at about 15:45. To my inexpert eye it just seems SO likely to get both doused and kicked to pieces being right there, neither of which seems exactly desirable for one's "electrickery". But it is a venerable old craft, so maybe it just hasn't been an issue? I don't know how long it'd weather my own shambling size 11½ docksiders without incident though.
Captain Q, This is very much the other end of the spectrum from the Cortin Steel boat you just showed us however it’s a better size for me and I can get more sailing time rather than maintenance. I’m almost 70yrs and squaring away the wiring mess over the motor is about as much of a problem as I want to deal with. Thanks for the video and the work that you and Ran dee do for us. 👍

@@YachtHunters I replaced that boat with an IP 27....another PB !
Always look forward to the latest video! Loved the "Bombs Away" reference... LOL
Ran Day cant help himself ....we are soooo glad haha
The boat pictured 1:50 in to the video isn't a 8mR. It is the swedish skerry cruiser SK95 Britt -Marie, sail number S8. Love the show though:)
I thought she didn’t quite look right I will thoroughly admonish my editor

Happy New Year for both of you. Thanks again for the tour oft his very nice boat and the great information all related to a good up keeping of your boat
Cool quite a deal Happy New year to u Captain Q and Randy
thank you Dennis
Did I hear you say you spent time near Hamilton, On.? I grew up just across the lake on Michigan’s east coast. Spent many days duck hunting and fishing Lake Huron. Love the videos and best wishes Cap!
She looks like a halman horizon When in heavy water they roll we had. Our cutter on the Atlantic post hurricane off New Jersey and she handled like a champ
It does.

Great video Capt and Randy. And you're right, looks like new owners just need to spend some time on the wiring and it's gold.
You got that right!
And that low hour Beta engine!
Happy New Year Captain . You give great info on each video thank you.....
Very welcome
Nice little boat well equiped
Ya, cuz you might get stuck in a swamp with this thing and need to walk it out ... ya, that could happen! ;-);-) :-) Entirely entertaining episode. Thanks!
it has been known to happen.... even to a seasoned captain coming out of Portsmouth, NH for example ;)
Very nice boat!!!. I would live it with only one mast.
Veeery nice!!!
I could live on that, easy! Nice to see the positive review of the composting head! I have been using my self build for a year now, it is so much better then the alternatives.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the reassurance re the head Hard to get your hands ( so to speak ) around it im sure until you try it and then you find how sweet your boat can be
Just don’t drop the jug. 😱
Another great video Capt Q and First Mate Ran-Day.
Thanks again!
Nice sweater there Captain Q, ‘Another Nice Sweater’
I think you need to do a review article on hand knit sweaters and their history...
Working on it! should be out in January Issue of Knitting and More in 2029
Lovely looking boat.
Hahahahaha!
Boy, I’m not sure how good the Aperture sights on the ole bomb bay are nowadays. 🤣
we will do an in-depth episode on how to correct misses by your Norden Bomb Sight
Great review ! As Always the sneak peek of things to come has me hooked .
thanks, carl.... those two sneak peek boats are pretty neat!
It looks like an Island packet if it wasn't a supposedly a double ender. there as the same cabin and layout on Deck there...
Nice boat. I was hoping to hear more about sailing characteristics and pros/cons of a yawl.
they are the best for a host of reasons too many for this note but trust me you would be happy with two masts
At 14:50 in the video, the buttress above the Captain's head looks like it has some water intrusion at the lower end. Is that not a concern? And at 15:10, there is no matching buttress to starboard. Is that strange?
I love the dog on the boat!! Subscribed love your videos
Awesome! Thank you! Shes a great dog perfectly trained
I didn't know that they discontinued Origo
Thanks for the info
I will have to start hoarding them wherever I find them
I chartered a boat with an Origo stove in 1978. Not new by any account. A little slower that the Kenyons of the day but still would boil water for spaghett.
I’d like to see you review a Nautica 33. Would be a very different kind of Review, maybe a pilot House
Thanks Captain Q and Ran-day
Awesome find. This boat is beautiful and needs a new home. Sadly I am looking at 50 and 60 footers ... maybe I need more than one boat.
You can do it! Comon Eddie
At 19:08, “...bombs away”. Gold.
She SOLD last month but site still up - thanks for the tour Q
good to know... thanks for letting us know
Extremely detailed!!
Was the butterfly hatch held down with clamps that when undone can be lifted off??
Captain Q,
This is very much the other end of the spectrum from the Cortin Steel boat you just showed us however it’s a better size for me and I can get more sailing time rather than maintenance. I’m almost 70yrs and squaring away the wiring mess over the motor is about as much of a problem as I want to deal with.
Thanks for the video and the work that you and Ran dee do for us. 👍
Lovely little boat. Never seen a composting toilet in a yacht! Cockpit drains wont get rid of gas unless they exit above the waterline but you knew that. Love your channel.
Good tip! will check on exit of those
Very Nice Captain Q!
