Okay Lorna wow thank you so much no wonder mine wasn't working as well cause I wasn't buffing it dang it ...thank.you so much for all your tips on this I will be using them this morning when I get my stuff out to work on it .....
I definitely recommend the method she used with acrylic. I just did a set and used foil on ring finger over the pumpkin spice acrylic and capped with clear. It was gorgeous and lasted the whole time! Sooooooo good!!

I've found that if I use a lint free cotton wipe, to apply pressure over the foil, the transfer is very nearly flawless.
I absolutely love foils, but I absolutely hate using them because I cannot get a clean transfer, no matter what I do. I use the Makartt transfer gel and a lot of people say that 30 seconds is the sweet spot for them, some say 45 seconds and some say the full 60 seconds. I've tried all three curing times, I've tried different kinds of foils (I have almost 300 of them), I've tried letting the nail cool down for 30-60 seconds, I've tried using different tools to press them down. I always get wrinkles and I usually don't get any transfer on the sides. I don't know what else to do. I really want to use foils more because I have some absolutely beautiful designs, but all of my sets with foils come out looking like sh*t because the transferred design/pattern ALWAYS has wrinkled spots. 😭
I also REALLY want to learn how to do a foil ombre with gel polish, but I absolutely suck at ombres. 😫
Cure times depend on wattage of your lamp. 60 seconds in a stronger lamp will not be the same 60 seconds in a lesser watt lamp.
@@SheilaisOffensive oh, I know that. I've tried 3 different curing times and I still can't get the foils to transfer without wrinkles. The foil gel itself is amazing. The problem is me, apparently.
@@perfectlyimperfectpressons I know this is a super old comment, but did you figure this out? I am having same problems as you and not a lot of info to troubleshoot. Different cure times, different foils, leave as is from lamp and it's too wet/slippery to transfer, wipe transfer gel dispersion layer, and it's mildly tacky but transfer is super spotty/nothing will transfer. What am I doing wrong? ;_;
I saw on one video to try applying the glue gel to 1/2 the nail on one side. Then place that foil. Then add to glue to the other side-foil. That doing 1/2 at a time forgives the curvature of the nail and gets the side better.
Hi Lorna, thank you for this insightful video! ❤ quick question - I have shellac nails and I want to add transfer nail foil on few of them just for one night, for a party. Can I just use a clear nail varnish instead of foil glue and use acetone free nail remover to remove just the foil without damaging my shellacs?

Heyy the foil probably won’t transfer with regular polish. But as a little jack you could just cut the foil into small pieces apply base coat on your nails then add the foil then top coat x 1 or 2 depending.
I guess it depends on the foil/pattern how this would look.
But it could be so cute. Then yes you could just remove with acetone free nail Polish lovely - that should be fine.

This is. A silly question but can u use nail foil gel as foundation gel?to make gel x wil stick?
Hi no you can not use it for that purpose. But you can use Nail Mate BUILD+ or Structure gel 🫶🏼✨💜
Foil get has no strengthening properties it is for applying art only xx

I have a few that they done the wrong way cause I actually have to use them on the shiny side I thought I wasn't doing it right for a long time and the foil got stuck to the nail and I was.like damnit so I took it off and th flower transferred on to It so I then took the foil and flipped it over and put I on another nail and it worked so they printed them.wrong I thought I was going crazy lmfao
