You take A LOT of stupid damage due to going out of your way to kill an enemy that would never aggro you in the first place, and doesn't guard anything at all. Think about it would 'ya?
Thank you for inspiring me to buy this addictive-as-fuck game, sir. Died 64 times in 2 days, only unlocked the jungle tunnel and one character and have yet to get past the jungle, but even with all the terrible deaths, I'm having a blast. XD

I can't fathom why Ryan doesn't think to use his many bombs or the pickaxe to burrow through the levels. He get's into situations where could just borrow through the floor or a thin wall but regardless of that he takes detours and often dies in the process. He could just burrow straigh down and skip most traps most of the tiime...
Northernlion, why do you skip the gold beetles on every dark level? WHY? They're always worth thousands of dollars! Even when they're in easy reach, you ignore them!
There were a least 2 situations where you could have saved a robe by throwing an arrow at the wall so that it sticks there and you can use it as climbing support. I'm not use if it's possible without the Pitcher's Mitt in the XBLA version though. ;)

That aside, I've actually looked up stuff on the wiki for this game and still make mistakes even after taking note of stupid things I shouldn't do. Nobody's perfect...

Ryan, a jetpack is almost mandatory to actually beat Hell, so if you have the opportunity, you should always try to get one.
