One of the first survival horror games ever, where you play as Jennifer Simpson trying to get out from the Barrows mansion and hopefully find some of her friends alive!
I recommend to play this game before watching this longplay. This is an interesting game with multiple endings and gameplay choices, but really short when you know what to do. The lack of knowledge of all the clues and dangers of the mansion makes the game much more interesting and fun to play!
The playthrought includes the best S-ending, all the other endings and bunch of other stuff from the game I didn't include in the main playthrought.
I missed some of the stuff, mostly the ones that happen randomly like bleeding painting, music player playing itself etc, but I included pretty much everything that can be triggered by player itself. -

Watch the movie from 1985 called Phenomena by Dario Argento, this game is massively inspired by it...
Oh yeah. Weird how I never made that connection before.
I honestly prefer Clock Tower's warm sprites to Argento's movies though. I know that means I probably have bad taste, but honestly I've never felt enraptured by Argento's style as anything more than "oh so *he's* the progenitor of this aesthetic." His actual movies feel... choppy and kind-of dull.
No bad taste here, just your taste... I love Argento's movies, although only a select few, he was always hot and cold, and even as a fan i recognize how choppy and disconnected his works are most of the time...

This movie in america was called creepers and the main character played by Jennifer connelly.
I'm not a fan of horror movies,only my mom,my dad and my brother are moviegoers.
God, rolling the credits instead of just giving you a game over is so brutal.
Yeah man, I could imagine just sitting there, in the days before the internet, and wondering...is that how the game is supposed to end??

I would love to see a remake of this game. Though I don’t know if the transition into a modern day game would help it retain its atmosphere and horror.
Luigi's Mansion felt more like a parody/remake of it.
Ironically, I think that Luigi’s Mansion had more of a scare factor than Clock Tower.
There is a remake being made that's expected to come out sometime next year. Apparently, it's going to include an original song by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn.

So when the game get creepy, it scare you a lot.
The original Resident Evil 3 introduced me to this game, when I was typing in the clock tower level.

Probably the only time in the Horror genre where you can escape the killer by power walking.
I don’t know. The Resident Evil 2 remake made running for it the main means of survival when meeting Mr X.

For real tho this game is so nostalgic, having grown up playing clocktower(psx) when I was like 9 and it scaring the shut out of me, it’s cool to see a proper horror game for Snes and it kind of completes the story of who tf scissor man was anyway

23:00 - what's the purpose of the mannequin room? It's creepy af and the one on the left is definitley moving, but nothing ever seems to happen in this room. Unfired Chekov's gun or does the Scissorman pop out of the left one if you wait long enough? Edit: partially answered at 1:42:00.

With L and R buttins it's possible to always run in this game.
Not sure if there's a downside. I played this a lot back in the day until I could get all the endings in record time and I never noticed a drawback.
Maybe hedge clipper dude finds you faster if you run constantly but it's not like he is hard to shake.
There is. Running lowers your stamina. The lower your stamina, the easier it is for you to die.
I believe you trip a lot more when running from Scissorman if your stamina is low, and I think you're more likely to fail panic events (when Jennifer's portrait flashes red and blue)

The "Clock Tower Remothered" remake of this game was cancelled do to licensing issues. It looked very well except the CGI cutscenes. I bet it was also taken down years ago maybe by Capcom but I not 100% of the company.
The same guy who made "NightCry" not the "Remothered" game was trying to create years age of the remake of Clock Tower Remothered.
However he was fed up what happen to his project and recreate a game similar to Clock Tower. Nobody knew till he spoked about it. Forgot his name though. But the gameplay you didn't have to click to move Jennifer.
Also it might of been when Kickstarter didn't formed yet.
Clock Tower didn't age enough and so did it's game didn't let the light of day either. No series then the four will ever exist.
Also the actress who played Jennifer from Labyrinth is also Jennifer in Clock Tower. Same picture design. :3
Yes, that actress is Jennifer Connelly - and she also played in a movie called Phenomena in 1985 which inspired this game.

You gotta LOVE that Fundamentalist-Mormon-style dress that the heroine wears.
In the other (relatively few) games where the player is a girl, she always wears a sports bra and skinny jeans, short shorts and a skimpy tank top, or spaghetti straps and skin-tight leggings.
This, by contrast, is somewhat refreshing!

Cristhian Quillas well the ending where you successfully beat Bobby(Scissorman) is explained in the lore
Bobby Barrows and his twin brother Dan(the giant tumor thing) were born with deformities that should have killed them at birth, but turning off the Clock Tower screwed up time allowing them to live, therefore turning off the clock tower allows the deformities on bobby to do what they should have done at birth
