what great... a record device would be cool to... there was a good app ios ipad out pretty cool. hope a Matrix Push kind of drum rack Clip simpler style control is possible..
I've actually been trying to make a similar vinyl/record scratcher device for a long time now but can never get it sounding quite right. Hopefully though, one day I'll finish it! :)
@@AndrewNorrisMusicTech They do load in the drop down, but they are not visible when selected.. I removed all my installed codec an installed the one recommended from ableton (Haalo Media Splitter), which then works when i drag the videos individually without theplugin on the timeline, but they still dont work in the plugin. I think it might be a codec issue maybe within the plugin itself, translating it or using it for windows..
@@MahmoudRadwan-j4n It could be a codec thing, but I think it's more likely that Max is just using the wrong video engine. It needs to be set to VIDDLL and not Quicktime for videos to play. Try this: - Load the device on an empty track and click the 'edit' button to open it in Max (this one: drive.google.com/file/d/1gonIEl4ppNliSOYg0m1OLSKusnGcyuYt/view?usp=share_link) - In the Max window that's popped up, click Options > Preferences and scroll down until you see the 'Jitter' section. Change 'Video Engine' to 'viddll'. - Close the Max window, restart Ableton, load the device again, drop in your video folder and try selecting a video. That should hopefully have fixed things! :) If you don't see the 'viddll' option, let me know and I'll tell you how to install it.
@@AndrewNorrisMusicTech Hey Andrew, Thank you for the steps, I did open max4life editing and went on to the Video Engine in Jitter section, it was already set to vidll, i changed it to qt to try the other option but its still not working unfortunately
@@MahmoudRadwan-j4n Hmmm... I'm not sure what else to suggest, tbh. I can only replicate the problem myself if I select something other than 'viddll' in the Video Engine settings. So yeah, could be a codec thing. Sorry I can't be of any more help. :(
Depends on the controller, I think. You can very easily map the playhead to a fader/dial on any MIDI controller. Not sure how this would work with something like a jog wheel though as these tend to be 'endless' rotary encoders. They don't output MIDI CC values from 0-127 in the same way that a fader or a dial would. They do it in a non-linear way, so they don't have a 'beginning' and an 'end' as such (like a fader or dial).
@@jolieuke You can actually go a bit longer than that if you liked though, but probably no longer than a minute or so for the clip to be usable. If the clip is quite long and the loop ends up being really fast as a result, you can use the 'bars' divisions instead of the 'beats' divisions to slow it down a little. The longer the clip though, the less accuracy / fine tuning you get with the loops you create. :)

Awesome !
Tried it on win11 but unfortunately not working on my end, the videos are not showing up
Do the videos load into the drop-down menu? Or is it that they load and don't play?

Fantastic. 😊
Cool! Thanks!!
if you can assign an lfo to the playhead can you also midi map it to a dj controller for real time "scratching"?
