Tongue placement. On the alveolar ridge when playing in the mid to low partials? Behind the teeth as in the higher range? Tongue placement on low and pedal tones, between the teeth to upper lip?

I really enjoy hearing you play. You should post just random videos of you playing music, as a soloist, with a piano, or just anything. Anyway, keep up the great work!

I have the same problem, you need to open your throat more. If you can, get a mouthpiece with a deeper cup. Just remember that you still have to open your throat even with a better mouthpiece.

I've tried many mouthpieces. My favorite mouthpiece is the Griego CS5, which I am currently using

I know it is a little off topic, but I am a euphonium player who is shortly going to be a freshmen in college. I was wondering if you think that adding a trigger to my euphonium with a kit like the one made by MTP in Germany is a good idea, or waiting and getting a newer euphonium with a pre-installed trigger after I graduate is a better idea. Thanks.

Hey Mat, I'm using a Yamaha Custom Yep-842 serial number, 509735, with the Denis Wick Ultra SM4X but my conductor says I sound like a baritone so what I got from that was I sound bright. So do you have any tips on how to achieve a darker sound on euphonium?

Where are the Improvisational Jazz, Bebop, Blues and Hip-hop "Orchestra/Concert Euphonium/American or European B-flat Baritone (Brass TENOR) players at..? ???
I played brass (b-flat trumpet, french horn, American baritone, tuba in schools from age 9 till 17...
Did the marching, concert, orchestra and jazz bands at the school...
    Of course...
I had embrochure "issues" secondary to playing those varied sized mouthpieces.
I had fun and wasn't Great... but could read the sheet music... play the notes correctly, in time and with a decent to good tone.
I last played at age 17.
After the 8 Army years, College/University, Medical School, practicing medicine, Sheparding multiple children (mine and the offsping of others) into adulthood...
I moved to a town where there is a club...
This club features local live bands every night of the week.
Every Monday night is open mic night... and in-between local amateur performers... "The Situation" plays...
"The Situation" is a Live hip-hop band that opens the show... accompany random open mic performers, and plays sets... but only on Monday nights.
Their style is sorta like "The Roots."
Since I know the band leader... and he knows I used to play... I've been challenged to play with them on my instrument of choice.
    I'm thinking playing a Jazz-Bebop-Blues- Hip/hop-Poetry- Fusion set with a few Euphonium/Baritone solos would be the Shiz-nit.. !
    Dude YOU'RE GOOD...
    Please expand your repertoire.
YOU have the potential to be the "Eric Clapton," "Buddy Guy," "Miles Davis," only on the euphonium/baritone if you expand far beyond classical music and show/cover tunes.
Since I've been challenged.. I bought a American Concert/orchestra front facing B-flat Baritone...have been watching videos... and been practicing...
Let's introduce the "ALT" music population to brass b-flat baritone/tenor horn off the chain and in non-traditional environments.
    Keep up the good work.
    Open your musical mind.
Gonna do it at age 50...!
