  • This is a custom glass 72x24x30” front opening vivarium we made for Dental Excellence in Tucson, AZ. After the ZooMed excavator clay dries a trio of Ackie Monitors will move into their new residence. The background was all crafted from great stuff foam, carved insulation sheets, and than sealed with colored Drylok. The hardscape is made of manzanita and flagstone.

Not fit for purpose. Need 18" of substrate for digging and help with humidity. Open top is a poor enclosure.

An ackie need 12 inches of substrate. A glass vivarium is not a good idea for and ackie. An ackie is shy and feel exposed with all this glass. It is also difficult to keep the right temperature in a glass vivarium. I wouldn't say that this is gigantic. Most serious ackie keepers have this size for a single ackie or may be two. If this vivarium has a mesh on top the temperature and humidity will be very difficult to maintain. The biggest problem is the missing minimum 12 inches of humid substrate. The ackie will not be able to shed and lose toes and tail.

This is a 72-24-30” Vivarium the entire bottom is made of excavator clay which is wonderful for holding heat. The entire back is made out of insulation also good for holding in heat. We made sure they have multiple 140-150F basking areas as well as cool spots. This is a public display so it needed to look nicer than a wood box filled with dirt as most “serious keepers” do. We have a deep moist hide/lay box with plenty of space for them all to get in and access humidity. We have raised up these guys since they were the size of our fingers, they still have all their toes. I do appreciate your unwarranted advise be we did put a lot of thought and planning into this setup. It wasn’t something we just slapped together. The Ackies have acclimated amazingly and are constantly out interacting with the clients in the waiting room.

They need at least 3' of substrate. 4' is even better.

@@Darkwhisper441Mine's got 6' of substrate. Sounds like _you_ don't know what you're doing.
