The problem was never the pistols, it was a bunch of people that have never owned 1911's. I own both models and these guns are solid. They're not beginner guns. Every 1911 in my collection of almost 15 has needed some type of adjustment/break in. The only exception to this is hand fit/semi hand fit guns.
I have noticed that, as well....Since I filmed this...i have since dropped in a ignition kit, fitted a flat trigger to it...and changed out the recoil and mainspring....the issue i saw was heavy cerakote on the rails...and it was over sprung...will do a follow on video soon to let everyone know what I did...Thank you for your input, Sir.
Haven't had time to finish the video yet, halfway thru. I have heard a lot of guys having a ton of success utilizing the "marvel cut" on the slide. Helps the disconnect not get hung when the slide is returning home.
Yeah, its a channel machined into the stripper bar...but, I was trying to do this review on the cheap, to get it run, without outside machining....The issue is a MIM disconnector and the hole slammed full of cerakote...
@@threatcadre yeah makes sense. And I agree with you if you have to invest that much money and effort into it why not just start at an sti/stac. I think even a bul maybe?
Will have a follow up soon...I am making a list and prices...and taking it one upgrade at time to see what can be done...to help shooters out...thank you.
I have the 4.25 inch got all the mim parts replaced and got the trigger done and added a bigger slide stop love it and I think it’s a much nicer gun then people think my buddy has a stacado and it’s no difference imo except maybe the extra 1000 dollars your gonna spend on it and u definitely don’t notice a 1000 difference between the 2
The biggest difference that I can tell is the accuracy...the Staccato is slightly more accurate due the fit barrel, and not the drop in...but, you are correct...for individuals that can "work on" their own 1911/ 2011 its a solid base...The issue will be when you have a gunsmith do it...what they will be charging...
If you only can have one staccato. To cover EDC, HD, Duty and range. Without hesitation the C2…If you already have a Staccato or you want to solely EDC and possibly train some with it. The CS is an amazingly compact and accurate pistol. It would just get old shooting it all the time for training and range. IMHO. And I have over 30k rds through the CS. 👊🏼🇺🇸
I really enjoy the info about all of the staccatos. I don’t actually know anyone in my area that has one, but I am seriously looking into a purchase. Preferably the c2 . That seems to be the best all purpose one for me. I also saw one of your shorts with the Blackhawk holster setup. What kind of belt is that? That black camo is sick.
@@carrollwaters5375 Thanks Sir. The belt is the new lo pro from Lead Devil, Sir. Probably the best duty belt i have ran...and I have ran alot. The molle is "internal", so doesn't look "tactical" Hope that helps, Sir. Greg
I think this will be an interesting project. It seems your pistol has some of the more commonly known issues to start with, but if this build is anything like building or tuning a SA Mil-Spec 1911, the Prodigy should be well up to the task. 👍👍
Prodigy sleeping and dreaming on a Staccato mat! Lol. When you do the build, can you please make up the actual parts list to make this gun run, please? And thanks Greg
Will do. Already started on it. And running reliable thus far. With an ignition system and recoil spring. And some lapping the rails due to the cerakote. Will see with a little more time and rds. Will do another updated video this week. 👊🏼
@threatcadre please show the process of you doing the lapping? Please, I do have many of them lapping compounds from my Tool&die days. But not a Gun Smith!
I bought my SA Prodigy 4.25 at the beginning of the year to break into the platform. I liked it so much I just got a staccato C2 this weekend and plan on getting another Prodigy 5 inch for a all out custom build. Owning a staccato I definitely can tell and feel the difference between the two. Can't wait to see more on the build maybe get some ideas
I’m impressed thus far with it. Especially at the price point. I just posted a short today on the ignition system, flat trigger and springs. It’s a crisp 3 lb trigger now. More to follow
@@threatcadre yeah I got the release email about it, I'm thinking the next gen after the debug period. Also what is the break in / wear it for the Prodigy they are recommending?
@@paulmistretta5764 honestly. I’m thinking at least 200 rds. They have so much cerakote on the rails, I’ve had to l clean that up. Already dropped a ignition system and fitted a flat trigger to it. Dropped a short on the trigger pull this morning
Being a Staccato Owner and shooter for several years now, I wanted to see what all the hype was with the SA Prodigy.
Thanks for sharing. 👊🏼

It's a nice pistol. After tuning the magazines, sear spring, and filing/polishing some parts, it's a very smooth firearm.
