Good morning. Paying off debt can get monotonous, but over 300 dollars in between paychecks is no small thing. Give yourself credit. You're doing great!
Feel you on this "waiting for the next payment coming in" to have a substantial change... Here in Germany, we only get paid each end of the month, and I need to wait that long to get another transfer to my investment account (luckily I am debt free). It is really motivating to watch you and especially the net worth updates you give have triggered me to do the same. Over time, there is very good progress for you and now I want to see it for myself. Keep going, Katie!🥳
I bet it is hard to only get paid once a month! You really have to be disciplined to make sure you don’t run out of money. And you are debt free as well! That’s very impressive ☺️ thank you for watching my net worth videos! I really enjoy tracking it to see those changes over time. It’s motivating for me. I’m glad you started tracking yours, too! 🤩
I was really feeling that this summer...just waiting for the next paycheck. I love that you share your raw thoughts during this process. You are doing such a great job, Katie!!
Thank you, Jessie! I hate to be negative, but I also want to be real and share that it’s not always rainbows and butterflies. Sometimes it just a waiting game, and it can suck 😂
Hi Katie, good job adding your extra money to your debt goals. Sometimes it does feel like we are living paycheck to paycheck because we are always waiting for the next one to pay towards our debt. Your progress this year is still remarkable, and I love how focused you continue to be. 😍
Thank you, Debra! I just want the debt to be GONE, so I tend to be impatient while I wait for the next check. Hopefully it will be better once the debt is paid off.
I totally understand you. I’m on the same boat 🤣 back again. It is what it is, the good news there is a plan in place and let’s just pray for no more hiccups and bumps on the road 🙏🙏🙏
I felt the same way this week. We don’t live paycheck to paycheck anymore but it still feels like it. I’ve been obsessing over building our savings and paying off debt and this week I got burned out. For the rest of the year I’m just going to pay the bills and finish one savings challenge. I have made a rule to stop looking at my finance spreadsheets everyday and only check in when we get paid. Hopefully taking a break will help me stop obsessing 😅
I love that you are going to take a break for the rest of the year. Sometimes that is just necessary! And if your bills are all paid, that’s what matters ☺️
Ugh this is me too! We’ve been paying a lot of deposits for our wedding next year in the last 3 months. I had to stop looking because I would spends hours a week tinkering with the spreadsheets for fun, but I think it was messing with me when we started to make less debt progress due to the vendor deposits. Overall, I think it’s for the best 😅
Think of it like building a house. Each dollar you add to paying debt is like a brick being added to your new beautiful house. As an old coach once told me. His job was for the team to hate him all year until they held the championship trophy they they would love him. The debt payoff journey may suck but the reward and joy you will feel when you get there will be more than worth it. Keep up the great work!!!
Hi Katie! Thank you for the shoutout. Also, congrats to all the KOTH subbies and their transfers! You and Marc are doing extraordinarily. You're in a funk. It happens. Once all debt is paid, I would make sure you and Marc are setting aside money for dreams beyond savings and investing. That is what mixes it up. That is what keeps it fresh. It seems stale right now and seems like it's going to be that way for a while, but you and he and shape it anyway you want. Love your content, here for it every week, so happy you're making a consistent AdSense income! YIPPIE!!! You work so hard. Have a great weekend!
Thank you so much!! I am hoping that once we can have more fun that I won’t just sit around and think about money all day. Don’t get me wrong, I know obsessing over it helps me to stay focused and get the debt paid faster, but I don’t want our finances to consume my thoughts forever 😅
Hey Katie! 👋🏿❤😊 Hello little orange loaf!! 🧡😺 I feel you on still experiencing the pagcheck-to-paycheck cycle (at least mentally if not physically). Working on my scarcity mindset too. BUT you're doing an awesome job & you'll be consumer debt free soon enough!!! 🎉
Scarcity mindset! Bingo! That’s definitely what this is. I need to work on that for sure. And thank you! I know we are doing the right things, it just never feels fast enough 😅
I 100% feel you on the paycheck to paycheck 😅 I feel like I almost obsess over it sometimes haha Thank you so much for the sweet words 💕 you always make me feel so special!
This is suck a sucky season (paying off debt) in life…and the reason why so many skip it. I remember hanging out at a friends house with my husband, and I was paying off our debt…. Their house look like a page out of a magazine… I was thinking, man I wish we could do this, and if we didn’t have all this debt, we could do this right now.. we didn’t and when I look back, I’m so glad I pushed through… some of those same friends are just starting their debt pay off in their 40s… I’m not speaking bad on now, but I’m glad I decided to do it in my 30s and can look forward to retirement now. This is self-care…. You and Mark are helping future Katie and Mark and your family!!! You got this… it’s worth it… you won’t regret it!!!
Oooh that’s something that I often wish we could do: put more money into our home. It’s hard to resist sometimes, but I know we’ll be able to do it stress free later when we don’t have debt, so I’m trying to be patient. I’m glad you paid off all of your debt in your 30s and now you can count down to earl retirement 😄 Thanks, Melissa!
We started doing sinking funds this past March and I was able to save $3000 to be able to pay for a new backyard shed that my husband has been needing! We have the kit ordered, now just waiting for it to be delivered to build it. My hubby was skeptical of my plan at first, but now he's totally on board!
Thank you for sharing! I feel a little restless sometimes when there's nothing to tinker with in my budget. Like, am I supposed to just go and enjoy my life?? LOL. I hope your paycheck cycle gets just as boring when you're debt-free.
Oh my gosh! I definitely feel this! I’m always waiting for the next check to budget and pay. You are doing amazing! Yay for a yt check. I redid my sinking funds and made an additional $3100 payment to my car loan. I want that interest gone! Great side hustle income friend!
This is why we stopped all contributions and put every penny on debt to pay it off as soon as possible. The freedom from the chains of debt was worth way more than the bit of interest we sacrificed and now we can make up for it but we’re FREE!
That totally makes sense! I’m hoping now that I decreased our contributions, it will go faster, but maybe one day I’ll just stop them completely because I’m tired of waiting 😅
Hi Katie yes it does feel that way for me too but the fact that you have an emergency fund and everything you need, bills paid you are doing great. But I get it it does feel that way but don’t forget to live while paying the debt off.
I am grateful that we do have an emergency fund! Even if I wish it were bigger, it’s still a lot more than some people can say, and I know that even if it FEELS like we are paycheck to paycheck, because if that EF, we really aren’t. Thanks for watching!
Hi Katie, great transfers. Im sure ill always be anxious to get to payday so i can make money moves lol hopefully they wont always be moves for debt payoff but saving and investing goals, ill be anticipating being able to make those transfers!
Exactly! I’m not sure it will ever get better because I’ll always look forward to something. I’m just hoping it won’t be quite as obsessive once the debt is gone 😅
OMG 😂 I totally know what you mean by “feeling” like you’re living paycheck to paycheck. I literally countdown the days for each time I get paid so I can save and invest. It’s not the best feeling and I want to get to a point where I don’t even think about my paychecks.
I've been getting more excited with my transfers each week. I transfer $85 a paycheck for a trip to Japan next year, this week I transferred an additional $210. Now I'm at $3240 of my $4000 goal! I'm also working on a 3 month Emergency Fund ($150 a paycheck) and I'm at $5214 of my $12000 goal. 😊
Oh yay! That’s so exciting! My husband wants to go to Japan. It’s our plan to celebrate being debt free…hopefully in two years, but it will probably take us another year just to save up for the trip. You’ll have to come back and tell me your favorite things that you did so we can add it to our list 😄
I passed my emergency fund goal. I’m up to 1500. My next goal is to get to 2500 for my emergency fund like you always said baby steps are the way to go. I really love your videos. Please keep up the great work.❤😊
This is how I have been feeling lately too! Even though we paid off our HE loan I have been feeling obsessive the last 2 weeks about waiting for payday to be able to put the money back in our savings account. We don’t necessarily live paycheck to paycheck, but it currently feels like we do because the extra is technically spoken for.
Exactly!! It’s the feeling of living paycheck to paycheck that sucks, even if that’s not the reality. Hopefully as you save more and more, that feeling will go away 🤞🏼
OMG -- had a convo with my husband last night about waiting for paychecks. His paychecks are only 8 days apart and mine are 15th and 30th of the month so we have a stretch of about 10 days were no one gets paid....and I know that isn't very long, but I recently went from every 2 weeks to semimonthly and it feels like that 10 days takes forever! He was like why does it matter and I said "because I want to make the moves quicker". hahah. I feel you! I told him I would be so glad when we have all the debt paid off and we can just set it and forget it and not be obsessed with looking at the bank account all the time!
10 days does feel like a long time when you are itching to make those money moves! I totally get you! I do hope that it does get better once the debt is paid. I hate obsessing over it all the time, but on the other hand, I do a better job paying off debt when I’m obsessed with it 😆
Paid off the remainder of my hubby’s student loan 🎉 Now we are debt free minus our mortgage. I have to remind myself all the time that just because I’m excited it’s pay day does not mean I’m living paycheck to paycheck
Heck yes!!! Huge congratulations, Alicia! That’s an amazing milestone 🎉🎉 And you are so right: we can be excited to get paid without living paycheck to paycheck.
Y’all are doing so well. You might be in a slump I’ve been there when we were paying debt. Plan some fun it usually helped us. Thank you for the shout out. Transfer low this week, but that’s ok $50 to HYSA & $100 to ROTH. Paid large dental bill🤦♀️
We COULD probably use some fun! Owen has been sick lately, so we haven’t been able to do anything, but I took him to the doctor yesterday to get some antibiotics, so hopefully he’ll be on the mend soon. Marc is off next week, so I’d love to do a few fun things while he’s off. Thank you for sharing your transfers! Amazing job 🙌🏼
Debt payback can be such a grind even when you know you have money to put there - I am an impatient person so having to wait for the pay period to roll around is stressful as well, I just want to see the progress! LOL!
Awesome use of the side hustle income Katie! 👏🏻 I’m putting an extra $315 to debt and $315 to savings from side hustle income this week. It feels good to be back on track after really falling off the wagon in the last few months 🩷
In some ways anytime you have all your money budgeted, it will feel like you are living paycheck to paycheck. It doesn't really matter if you are paying off debt or saving; you have every dollar accounted for. What is different is that when something exceptional comes up, you have something else to pull from -- and that feels much better than the alternative.
That’s probably true! Maybe it’s not something that will change but hopefully over time I’ll think about it less often once we are out of debt. Thanks for watching! ☺️
I know what you mean -when you say that you worry that it won't be as "exciting" when all of your debt is paid off and the majority of your paychecks are going towards your savings... I was worried about that too..... but then I renamed our sinking funds and savings/investments and major goal accounts our Family Treasury. I created a spreadsheet called the Family Treasury and this tracks sinking funds, major goal sinking funds and savings and investments and its so exciting to see that grow and get closer to our major goals. Its exciting when some of these major goals involve the whole family. The whole family sees how our Family Treasury is growing each week and its so much fun!
So just going to be honest as someone who is not in debt, has plenty of cash saving and am maxing all retirement accounts - I am still kind of obsessed lol. I think if your brain is tuned into finances the way mine and yours is, it doesn't just go away once you hit a goal because there's always going to be the next goal. I personally don't make enough money to not even have to think about it. Maybe if I made double what I did, then I'd not still spend a lot of time thinking about it? I don't know, but like here I am watching your channels and other channels to see others talk about their own money! In my experience, it really doesn't go away.
Oh no! 😂 honestly, I’m not totally surprised because I think if you have a personality like ours where you just love finances and improving your financial situation, you are going to think about it a lot. I am hoping that we think about it less once our debt is paid, but I’m sure it won’t ever totally go away. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, Elizabeth! ☺️❤️
I understand the thought process. You want to do so much-and you are! But it fells like you’re missing something, or should do something else. It kind of is paycheck to paycheck because every dollar has a job. But they are doing good jobs!
Good morning. Paying off debt can get monotonous, but over 300 dollars in between paychecks is no small thing. Give yourself credit. You're doing great!
Thank you, Kim! That’s true! I need to just be a little more patient ☺️

congrats on the extra money not budgeted for! Amazing job! Yes, I get you with the slog forward on long term financial goals.
Thank you, Theah! Well just keep pushing ahead 😅
I was really feeling that this summer...just waiting for the next paycheck.

I definitely obsess over it, too, Courtney, and it annoys me 😂

I am the same. When I am not debt free, I am paycheck to paycheck so that I can get debt free ASAP. I am with you.
It just weighs in you, doesn’t it? 😫
awww your little cat laying there next to you! How cute, I just love cats lol :)
Thank you! That’s Albus ☺️ He’s my buddy! I love him so much, and he always lays with me when I’m upstairs 🥰🥰

Good morning Katie!☕️🌸🌺💖
Hi, Paula! Happy Thursday! ❤️
Happy Thursday!
Same to you! Thanks for watching ☺️
On the 31st I'm planning to transfer $2500 to my house savings. I'll hit 10k saved that day :D Happy Halloween to myself, no tricks just a happy treat
That’s an amazing treat! Much better than candy 😂 congrats!
Good morning Katie here and watching 0:16
Thank you!! Have a great day ☺️
I feel the same way Katie 😭😭
Ugh, I’m sorry, Lina! I hope it gets better!
I understand the thought process. You want to do so much-and you are! But it fells like you’re missing something, or should do something else. It kind of is paycheck to paycheck because every dollar has a job. But they are doing good jobs!
Good jobs for sure!! I just need to learn some patience 😂
💕💕💕
Hi, Shawna! 💕💕
I feel exactly the same, but in sweden we get paid once a month😂 looong wait😂
Oh no! That’s definitely worse 😅😩
