direct drive fans have a near 0 % maintenance rate. I've got some that still run well and are 20 years old. My vote is to get rid of all the pulley system fans and build one seriously solid and dependable direct drive fan. Farmers have enough to worry about as it is, having to fix fans and replace parts on a massive scale each flock should not be one of them. I understand what you guys are saying, and you do give great tips for those who don't know what to do. I already do what you guys suggested in the vid and have for years, right down to the brooming off of dirty fan shutter during a flock. But what we need are fans that will last long enough for us to see a return on. Raising a little bigger bird does nothing for me if I end up breaking even after 5 or 6 years. But it does greatly benefit the integrator during that time. They are the ones who see the maximized profits while having $0 investment! So the age old question in chicken farming shows it head once again. Why should I spend money and go in the hole just so the poultry company can make money and smile all the way to the bank? All though the chicken companies laugh and blow that question off, I and all farmers think that its a legit question.

Cleaned louvers and fans this flock after not doing it last flock. Gained 2 points on my SP. Thanks.

Too bad you don’t get paid based on how much your birds weigh.
