  • Cycling through Mexico Alone // Cycling to Argentina EP16
After an emotional separation, I cycle alone into the Mexican desert and continue south through the Sierra Madre Oriental. Struggling through rugged trails, sketchy encounters, and the weight of suddenly being on my own, I keep pushing on. Gradually discovering that the kindness of strangers might just help me find my way again.

I think its fair to say we all fell in love with Victoria. If you'd like to follow her next adventure, please check out her channel and other links in the top of the description.
Anyway, although this video might start off sad, its not all doom and gloom and also encapsulates some truly magical moments that will stay with me for a long time. I hope you enjoy it.

Heartbreak and finding a way to move forward and find what makes us whole again. Thank you for your honesty, openness, and the gift of sharing this adventure with us. I wish you and Victoria the absolute best.

There should be an award for this doco. It’s near perfect balance of ambiance, fear and searching, story telling simply, watching you both learning life, you came to life’s greatest struggles of love. You manned up and stayed true, leaving a solid relationship. We in the audience know you’re gonna get through the process that everybody needs to go through. Happily you came out shining bright. We watched you become great. Music is perfect, cinematic and we ALL were captivated. And the the hook at the end !?! Mi amor!!! That was genius
This needs to be shown at Cannes, it’s that good to watch.
Get back on the road my G, we need season II.

Hi Greg. I’ve been following your and Victoria’s adventures since you two left Dead Horse-Prudhoe Bay in July 2022. I am a fan of bikepacking and originally was following Ryan Van Duzer and John Freeman since 2020 and remember seeing you for the first time at a store with both. I think that was the first time you all met one another. I think Ryan and John were touring Arizona at the time, heading to Grand Canyon. When you and Victoria started your quest to Argentina from Dead Horse, I have anxiously watched out for your videos by the day. Love watching Victoria sing in Spanish…she is a kick and yes, we all have fallen in love with the both of you. Keep your passion for bikepacking to Argentia alive and finish it with gusto and bravado. I pray that you and Victoria end up together at some point in the future if that is what you both want. God be with you always to the end my friend.

I'm sure this comment will be buried beneath the hundreds of others, but I have to leave it here anyway.
It's crazy watching this video, as it feels so familiar and like it came at just the right time.
I travelled Australia by bike with my partner and then we went our separate ways and I continued alone into Southeast Asia. I've been on the road for about 4 months now and have run the same gamut of feelings that you have. Southeast Asia isn't nearly as remote as where you've been, but that can sometimes be part of the problem.
The stuff about interactions - both positive and negative.... Feeling like some weirdo on a bike.... Finding purpose, losing it and then finding it again.... and especially the part about going to tourist sites.
In Southeast Asia there are tons of tourist places and I will often end up there. There are so many people around that speak my language and yet those are the places where I feel the most isolated. I go to bars hoping that perhaps I can strike up a conversation with another traveler and have someone to talk to, but instead I sit and drink alone while the tables around me are filled with families and groups of friends. I can't go to places like that anymore.
I've been having a great time staying with Warmshowers hosts and that has given me some amazing, likeminded people to connect with. I'm finding that a great way to "freshen" me up for the next solo stint.
I'd intended to ride all the way back to the UK, but I think once I finish my SE Asia stint I'll be ready for a break and, like you, I may visit home for a couple of months.
I think it's easy to get lost out here and it's important to keep grounded. That trip home will do you the world of good.
    Good luck!

Your comment isn’t buried. I’m sure that many like myself have read it… and are sending out gratitude that you shared. Many of us can relate from similar experiences in our lives, as you’ve described.
Your comment reminded me to remember to engage with that solo person at the restaurant or bar or wherever… the thing is, I like you, am also solo travelling, so I’m often that person wanting to engage. I don’t go out much either because sometimes when I do engage with others, I’m reminded How much I enjoy my own company z& space.

Greg, amazing video. I am going through the same emotions as my girlfriend felt she was following me on my dream, and we split apart. I haven’t yet got back to remembering why I wanted to travel the world in the first place. It is so nice to know I’m not alone. Thank you.

Hey Greg, been following you two since the beginning. I am a lurker and never comment, but this video really hit me hard having been in a similar situation where different motives pulled my apart from someone I loved. You are a legend for following your dream, and I don't know, or want to speculate at all, about the details between you and Victoria. But I really appreciate your heartfelt video, and it shows how strong and how beautiful a person you are that you can talk about this in such a positive light. I will keep following both of your adventures and I really wish you the best in Mexico

I am sorry for your heartbreak but your immense will power and love for people has helped you overcome what would make most humans turn back. I wish you were riding the west coast of Mexico so we could offer you refuge at our home.

Greg, I've been following you since the very first beginning of your Panamerican adventure, because it was a UA-cam suggestion even though you had hardly any subscribers or views yet. And look now: we're one year later and you've hit the +150 k subscribers' mark! One year later and you're in Mexico, one year and you've had to find back your spirit travelling alone. And you all did it!
I'm still enjoying every video you release, although sometimes we have to be a bit patient :) And also: your video-editing and story telling skills have grown so much. It's just amazing!!
Wishing you a good time in England and hope to see you back on your bike in a new video in the future! All the best, que te vaya bien!!

Greg, I'm from Perú, and something incredible happened just a few days ago. I met a guy on his way to Argentina cycling from Alaska. His name is Rodri and he is from Wales. My friends and I were making our way from Lima (Perú) to Arequipa and Rodri reached us when we were about to get to Tanaka wich is a small town that belongs to Caraveli (Arequipa). As usually when I meet someone doing this on his bike, I´ve been asking him a lot of questions because a love cycling too, and since he is from Wales and he was explaining us where Wales is located, I remembered you because in one of your videos you said you were from England so I asked him about you and surprisingly he told me that you and Rodri were in a Whatsapp group. I just coudn´t believe it. Now I know that you´re coming back to Mexico in some weeks to retake your trip. I´d love to meet you someday when you get to Perú and give you a big hug. I met you because of Victoria, so I´ve been following your yt channel and I hope you can overcome this difficult moment very soon. Best wishes to you from Perú. Thank you for what you´re doing. 🤗
PD: Sorry about my English, I´m trying to learn more and more everyday.

Our hearts are with you Greg! Clearly your adventure is not just through the landscapes external to you, but they are also internal/emotional adventures. No doubt you (and we) would prefer to still have Victoria traveling with you but we're so glad you found your solo-traveling mojo. You are such a positive spirit and have an uncanny ability to see the good in everything... much like the late Iohan "Bike Wanderer." I hope your visit back to England was restorative and we are looking forward to following your ongoing bike adventure. Cheers!!!

I've being waited for this next chapter. It is difficult. You had and still have a goal, a big adventure as your plan. And yet life have made it unforeseen turn, you've met a really rare person. Stop, think about this again, don't take this as granted. Sometimes it is difficult to reevaluate, to choose another course in new situation, yet, it can be wise. No one will blame you, even yourself, if instead of creating a new chapters of this adventure, you'll start a new road in your life.

Thank you for this video, thank you for being honest, and raw, and vulnerable. For not hiding those low moments. I am having some low days myself and this is all I needed to see, that it's okay to accept them, feel them, talk about them, and live through them as well.
At the same time I feel like I've just watched a great movie, a very visually pleasant one, with perfect music (raw, emotional, thanks Tom!), what else do we need? For you to have some lovely time home with friends and family, and then do whatever you feel like doing really.
