High protein, moderate dietary fat, low glycemic carbs, no alcohol, no sugar, no processed food, lots of sleep, walking, and weights! consistency and patience are the keys! Weight loss for older people is slow and steady!
This is me. I lost 40 pounds over the last year. Hit my "goal weight" but still have some belly fat. Not terrible but not good enough. I'm 54. Diet has been no alcohol, very low sugar, low carbohydrate, 2 meals a day, walk 4 miles every day. Now starting resistance training.
Hi Mark, you and Gary put out great content, as a 59 year old I really appreciate your advice on sensible training, eating. Thank you and best wishes to the Live Anabolic team, family and fellow viewers.
My wife and I recently went on a tour of England. Thinking I would pig out and drink a lot of alcohol I lost a few pounds beforehand but could never lose those last five pounds. Everyday of the tour, almost two weeks, we walked extensively. Climbing the hill to Hadrian's Wall is a nut buster. When I returned to the states I was at my target weight. The five pounds was gone. I put it down to all of the walking.
Oh, man! You have described me to a tee. All of it, all of my life. I'm 64. I have a six pack. But, there's about 25 lbs of fat distributed all over me. I can grab an inch anywhere. This has been my whole life. Even as a young guy. What was I doing? Eating the wrong stuff. Too much. And it has never ends. Thanks for this video. I'm trying.
What is missing is every body is different. Mark obviously has a great build to begin with. No matter how good of a job i do i will never have a body looking like his. This is why the focus is on health and looking "better". Embrace: better is...better.
My dog is 18 years old, in September he will be 19. He is an adventurous old Pug, slow though. Long, slow walks are okay. Down 30lbs (14kg), pants down to a size 34 from a 40, new belt. Veggie patch being expanded, dig out Kikuya grass and grow food. Body fat getting down slowly, but I am healthy and contented at 69. Here's the most important thing though, quality of life has gone up greatly after just 8 months of exercise, now at 185lbs (84kg)
Good tips mark I ride twice a week on my bike I do around 30 miles and I cut grass with a push more I have a big property as well thanks for the tips and eatting habits .
At 66 I’m 5’8” and 148lbs. After 3 years of getting back into cycling and focusing on daily exercise as well as keeping an eye on my diet I am now looking to drop the belly flab that covers up the abs I have below. I am practicing intermittent fasting, no eating between dinner and noon. Also adding apple cider vinegar in water twice a day. Of course sugar and corn chips are can take me in the wrong direction. My motivation comes from a desire to see what is possible for myself. I have no control over so much in the world but I can control what I train myself to do with my health. Then being an example for my adult sons and anyone else who might challenge themselves to change, if I can help….great.
I did keto for years! I have now clogged arteries! I had 2 A/fib! I don’t eat that high fat food anymore! I missed carbs! Our bodies don’t need high fat in our lives
In addition to working out with weights 6 days a week, I do heavy labor as a janitor (after quitting academia). I can't use Testo Greens because ashwagandha puts me in the hospital with nonstop vomiting. I never touch food made by the commercial food industry. I am 78 years old and weigh 145 to 148 pounds, but I would still like to cut my waist from 30 to 29 inches without costing muscle mass.
When I hear about cutting things from your diet, you basically do a carnivore diet. I'm big on the carnivore and is a great way to lose a lot of weight and not have to watch what you eat and you never go hungry.
The willingness to go on TRT is the most important factor. Muscle plays a big role in mortality as well. All men need to get their hormones in check. I’d rather die at 85 strong than live till 99 weak and in a home.
That cracks me up, lazy asses trying to park close at the gym LMAO My gym, Fitness Connection in Sugarland, has a What A Burger next door. I cant believe how many guys walk into the gym with a bag of that shit.

I'm 65, the last several years has been tough I've lost 3 younger siblings both of my sisters and a brother of which all have been dealing with diabetes and one has passed during the early stages of COVID, so I'll leave it at that, that's when I decided to get my act together so roughly 3 years ago I started getting back into the gym, I started out with 2 to 3 gym visits per week, fast forward to present day I'm now in the gym 7 days per week each session WILL be no less than 2 hours, full body work-outs every single day, and 2 times per week I'm doing double session days, one visit to the gym in the morning then one in visit in the evening both visits will be right about 2 hours per session then several days per month I will do a CRAZY NUT CASE split session day, THIS IS ROUGHLY A 3.5 hour day it's a attack everything day, go at it like GANG BUSTERS! One of my work-outs will be a combo work-out with dumb bells while riding the exercise bicycle 5 to 6 combo sets with 4 different dumb bell exercises, these will last roughly 45 to 55 minutes, intensity level will vary between 5 to 7 while peddling at 55 to 65 RPMs, there's a catch when doing these work-outs the exercise bicycle will be with fore arm pads, this is where I can rest the weights, and just a few weeks ago I've added in pyramid work-outs I'll do roughly 4 to 5 normal sets of which the last set will be a pyramid a double if I can, this has taken my work-outs to a whole different level! With this said everybody thinks I'm crazy and a few are saying that I need to go and see a doctor because to them this is not normal my wife is now riding my band wagon a bit she's now in the gym several time per week but then again she will think that I'm crazy as well, I'll look at them and say well it's better than sitting around watching some TV while petting the dog. Then there's those who will ask me, what's your purpose with these gym visits? My simple reply will be, Live to 100! With all this going on, the FAT is coming off slowly but surely, but for me it's not about getting shredded, for me it's all about feeling good, looking good and being good and I also want to be around as long as possible for my GRAND KIDS! In several days a new one is coming into this world so to say, I'm planning on enjoying my time with my grand kid. I've also a life long cyclist, been riding bicycles since the early 70's at the age of 14 I did my first 100 plus mile ride at 16 I was doing 100 plus mile rides with roughly 7,500 ft of climbing tossed into the mix later on I was commuting roughly 40 mile round trips to work via my bicycle, basically I did most everything on a bicycle, then one day I jumped onto the scale and I was nearly 220 lbs, I said that's not happening that's when I started pouring on the miles I didn't waste any time i was in the saddle day and night 7 to 8 weeks later I jumped on the scale, BANG ON! 186 Lbs. Fast forward 40 plus years later I'm still on the bike, and now I'm moving up the ladder with my cycling once again, My VO2 MAX is REALLY GOOD, cardio vascular is up there as well, my mind is still very sharp and I got the legs, so to say it's going to be fun! BTW: Great video! Nuff said, I'm off to the gym.
Your "journey" from 12 to -6 % really isn't applicable for most people. Maintaining 12-15% is more realistic. But over a great plug for your supplement. 🙄🙄🙄
@@jimjim8207 Exactly. Replace fruit with their powder because he claims fruit has sugar which can make you fat. Processed sugar can, but the "sugar" in fruit is not processed and is slowly released into the blood stream because it has fiber.
