Question about Magical Girl and Evil Lieutenant: I am the one who wrote the MAL review that is the most popular / upvoted on this show. My question I was curious about, did you read mine before making your reaction? Since there were parts in your reaction to the first few episodes that felt like you were responding to my view (like how you brought up the repetitive Mira jokes) I wasn’t asking to say you were taking inspiration from me or anything, your review was totally original. I just thought it was kinda cool cause it felt like you read my writing and that made me happy 🤝
Clarification: I am not the one who wrote the super negative. I’m the one who was positive on it with the most upvote and rated “Well Written.” I’m NozomiCoco
Nah, I haven't read any Mahoaku reviews. Only MAL reviews I've read over the last 5 years is Mushoku Tensei reviews (for response videos). Mira thing is just because it's a habit comedies get into with a joke that proceeds through the series, and it managed to work here. But hey, brilliant minds think alike!
@@otakuspirittrue! Speaking of brilliant, I’m glad you gave Bye Bye Earth a fair chance, it is my favorite anime this season. It may be a little confusing but I love its emotional center, the main character wanting connection so bad and slowly gaining it from Kitty the rabbit and Adonis and the others, was so heartwarming. I’m very excited it’ll have a second season.
I want to mirror peoples thoughts on Ossan that show subverted my expectations a bit over halfway through the series, its one-note characters were hiding a surprising amount of depth. I won't say its the most well-written show ever but the show made me sympathize with these characters and their inner struggle, efforts and hardwork they put in that didn't always achieve the results they were looking for. I also really enjoyed how in comparison to other power fantasy shows where you have fun just watching an op character demolish their competition this show still had that but the message that was continuously drilled in was that it was all the result of hardwork and that inspired the people around them. Whether it was a character that desperately wanted to grow, a character that got hit with a harsh reality check, or a character that was stagnating at the top with no drive to improve each of them had satisfying conclusions to their stories, the animation and artstyle was consistently good in the latter half aswell.
I do think you just keep watching. Im not sure what there is to hate watch when it comes to 2.5 Dimensional Seduction. Its a fun and cute wholesome show. The "should have kept the ecchi in the early parts" misses the reason why the committee left it out in the first place, and why no one on the JP side has this complaint. We have fun insights from the mangaka very week on twitter. Like this is def a highlight of the 2 seasons just as much Frieren and Dungeon Meshi.
Yeah, it's not really a "hate watch" but people label it as such. If you're not "positive" in your discussion, people label you a hate watcher. So I just choose not to cover it anymore with weekly videos.
@@otakuspirit Its cool. Either way, pretty good season id say, fall is looking pretty great too. Hopefully you stick with any of the magical girl shows airing. Id love more shoujo coverage, like Acro Trip for example.
Interesting, I couldn't care for Russiadere and only ended watching the Yuki clips on UA-cam. While Mayonaka Punch became one of my favorite show of this season for its interesting characters first and then for its comedy.
I disagree on the Elusive Samurai placement, way too low especially looking at what you have in front of it LOL. Most of your criticism focuses on the comedy aspect, which is highly subjective. As for the rest, it touches on vague elements (which, again, circles back to the comedy issue...). I don’t have much to say other than "it’s all relative"-comedy is subjective. What I can say, however, is that I strongly disagree with the notion that the show is bador mediocre. Quite the opposite: from my experience, I get excited for each new episode. The pacing is solid, the humor lands well, and the show feels like a refreshing change compared to recent shounen anime that often take themselves too seriously (like Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man). It manages to avoid many typical shounen tropes and offers something different: it’s historical, there are no organizations fighting ranked enemies, no overly complex power systems (like chakra, nen, cursed energy, etc.), no protagonist with a hidden monster, no tournament or battle royale arcs, no school setting, and no traditional "training arcs." Even the idea of a protagonist who values running away is something fresh in itself. I don't understand how so many objective qualities are being overlooked. Maybe you're just not the type who enjoys this kind of mix of contrasting tones taken to the extreme, but I love it. I can't stand action series that take themselves more seriously than they should, I agree that when done poorly, it can detract from the experience, but that’s not the case for me with The Elusive Samurai. The feeling I get watching it is very similar to how I feel watching Mob Psycho 100, an anime with a wide range of tones and textures.
Sadly, I'd try to understand your perspective, but most of what you say is good about it is just listing what it doesn't do, rather than what it does. So I can't really say I can see your reasoning for thinking anything above it is "LOL". Also, saying what it doesn't do isn't "objective qualities", but at least we agree comedy (although everything entertainment as well) is subjective.
personally ossan is better than parry, because the parry guy is SOO OBLIVIOUS to how strong he is while ossan actually aknowleges (sometimes) how strong he actually is

My thoughts on Alya are pretty much the same. Alya has this potential to be incredible but they wrote her so badly compared to the other girls. She's always mad, always complaining, hardly ever smiling. Why??? The few parts she was it was fantastic! Maybe this changes as the story goes on? But I don't know how they can eclipse the fan favorites of Yuki, Masha, and Ayano. Love is indivisible by twins: I hated Yumi and Jun so much. It was totally toxic how they treated Naori it made me so mad even though I kept watching till the end. Jun had no right to say he had feelings for Naori.
Jun is a trash protag. It is clear he after the harem route and wont admit that what he wants. He claim he not running away? wtf man you are no choosing cause you are afraid you hurt the other sister? someone slap him upside the head. either dump both , choose one or tell both you wont date neither and you want to love both of them and then kiss both girls at the same time. His friend was right to chase him in the school with his bs.
Someone else that understands me and Naori! That girl needs to get out of there fast! lol My hope around Alya definitely stems from her change in character lately. She was almost like a Tsundere archetype at first, but it seems the writer ditched the "hiding feelings in russian" thing, so maybe Season 2 will be better for her.
I didn't really mind slime 3 the meeting arc, but masayuki not fighting anyone was kind of lame And carrion should've been allowed to fight without his mask Only flop I'd say you have is putting no longer allowed in another world above Elusive Samurai. this first season of elusive samurai feels like just an introduction for some mediocre story later on that is carried by animation, one direction i can see it going where it could be interesting is turning it into a seinen later on and do a vinland saga.
I don't really get Slime. Everybody is too nice, all these nations and demon lords just end up being reasonable and helping Rimuru. I'm probably not watching it from the right mindset - I watched the first season concurrently with Tsukimichi, which IMO has a much better depiction of fantasy politics. Nobody is giving Makoto anything, but you also see where everybody is coming from and that they're (ruthlessly) working for their own interests.
I really don't understand the popularity tbh; I get when a dumb, trashy but fun show is popular, heck I like some myself. And I like some shows that are 'boring' but have fascinating characters or worldbuilding if you pay good attention. But Slime has neither! It's usually pretty mediocre to boring in its action and such - we all just know the slime will eat all and solve every problem - and it also treats basic shit on the level of 'hey, you shouldn't blatantly interfere with other nation's treaties' as though it's some political genius insight. And it's not even very snappy in pacing or funny in timing. I'm not trying to hate, it's just....legitimately confusing to me. Don't know who the audience is that's hyping it so much.

Elusive samurai could be great if it was brave enough to commit to just being a dark and gruesome story. Comedy cuts through dramatic moments like butter and when you're telling a serious story, ruining your dramatic moments with comedy is akin to poisoning the story. In episode 1, the main character moves on from losing his family and friends in a slaughter so quickly that he doesn't come off as human, but rather a psychopath. Am I supposed to feel sad for him? He doesn't seem to be sad. And admittedly, I didn't watch past episode 1 so maybe that was the point and I just didn't watch enough to see that, but I also doubt it. Also I'm not saying tonal shifts can't work well (there are plenty of comedies out there with surprisingly sad moments) but they have to be used correctly otherwise you ruin your story.
I've never heard of Makeine before summer, and now it's my favorite show with the best OP and ED of the season titles.
Alya's student council arc was so boring. Just for the last third of the show It didn't deserve S imo.
