I played Electra (Strauss) for a friend yesterday, while on a long trip. His exposure to opera is almost nonexistent. Previously, he only knew Lucia( Donnizetti) which captured him while watching the movie, The Fifth Element(Bruce Willis starring in spoken role). The , Mad Scene, from Lucia is sung in this film. Now, he wants to get to the Met for either of these. The relevance of these works is remarkable.
