Gretzky is the Great One. Datsyuk is the Greatest One in my opinion. No one like him before or since. I remember leaving the Stanley Cup Parade in 2008 and went to further celebrate in Royal Oak with friends. I happened to literally run into Pavel and Jiri Hudler stumbling out of a bar, they were so hammered there wasn't a word of English spoken but loved it. I needed a ride home but my phone was dead and didn't want to ask them to use theirs. What a humble legend. ❤From Detroit
As a Blues fan, he is my all time favorite player. He might be a Blues killer. But there is no player in my mind, not even McDavid, matches his skills. He is the most skilled player I have ever seen in my life and I have been so fortunate to watch him and his highlights. Will never get tired of watching his highlights.
I'm a local wing fan and always justified me not being biased towards datsyuk being the all time best or most entertaining player to watch just by the interviews of the other players across the league talk about what a class act datsyuk was and how he was the most difficult player to play against. His moves were just ahead of his time
You have to think he paved the way for other players to play like him. The curl and drag moves. everything. But no one has ever done his break away move like he has done it. pavel was just way a head of his time.
Some of the stuff you pulled off Theyre still trying to do it You are my greatest of all time Stretching in warm up Back hand in stride far side top corner Reach back stick flat snag the pack like a cane On and on and on Unbelievable Red Wing royalty Hockey royalty Thanks for everything you do Pavel really I hope you enjoy the retired life You rocked it Hall of Fame Made us so proud to be Red Wing fans Thank you for everything The highlights will live on
"Have you seen Henrick? "WWWHHHHOOOO???" It's tough with the language barrier, but every once in while you get a sense of his sense of humor and its great.
I remember watching him as a rookie on that stacked 2001-02 team. I thought, wow, there is truly something special about this young man. Congratulations, "Magic Man" on your Hall Of Fame induction, and thank you for helping to bring two Stanley Cups to Hockeytown.
One of those very rare talents that "Literally" had you on the edge of your seat every time he stepped on the ice! Guys like that come around maybe once in a generation if your lucky. Congrats on the HOF induction, no one in HockeyTown is surprised by this huge honor!
So great to see that legend back in Detroit even if it is for a short time. I wish he was immortal in that he could play forever. I am so privileged to have seen him play live.
Fucking love you Pasha. Thank you for all the joy you have brought to my life simply by playing a game with such high skill, for being a Red Wing, and for coming back to help the next generation of Wings! GO WINGS GO!
He straight up said he wanted to spend time with his family. It's hilarious that y'all think he's just committed his soul to hockey for the rest of his life 😂
Man, this is a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT day, now, for sure😁! Just to see and hear this absolute legend of a Red Wings player AND all-round great human being, back once more in a Detroit orbit🏒🥅🎯! The Magician - enough said👏!
I'm just a camera guy in Toronto, but I'm willing to re-locate my family to Detroit and learn how to properly mic up, and mix sound for media availability sessions for the Red Wings. I'll take a team friendly contract, I know Yzerman doesn't like term, 2-3 years seems like a number he likes so could start there...
I don't think we'll ever forget you, Pavel.
Especially once #13 gets to the rafters! 🐙
I love when asked about Hank he immediately says "who?" 😂
This dude was by far the best complete player on the planet. I can not think of a better complete player.
I never thought I would see a media availability of pavel datsyuk ever again....

He could step in now and still dominate, what an absolute legend
Oh, I've missed his pressers.
"Have you seen Hank?"
"Who!?"😂
Forget him? I'm not even a wings fan and I watch his highlights all the time!

Magic man 💥💥💥💥💫
I forgot how much I love his interviews. He always was so self-aware of his broken English, lol
A friend of mine (a blues fan) once described Pavel as the best hockey player while no one was watching.....Hockeytown was watching and we love you.
He really was ahead of his time huh
Biggest beauty ever. Trust me when I say nobody will ever forget you and you’re still one of the greatest of all time. Cheers Pavel
I'm fortunate enough to have been around during the Datsyuk era. Thank you Pavel for all those years of spectacular hockey.
ABSOLUTE FUCKING LEGEND FOREVER!
Thank you, Pavel. You made my childhood awesome, and I am so proud and thankful of the loyalty, talent, and years you gave us.
There will never be another one of these gems in the game folks . Ill count myself lucky i got to see his while nhl career firsthand start to finish .
I'd still let him play. Haha. Miss him so much. Hockey died a little for me when he left.

this makes me too happy, lindstrom, yzerman, datsyuk and Kronwall all in the same building gives me chills
Get him back here in any capacity! Detroit loves you, Pavel!!
I remember watching him as a rookie on that stacked 2001-02 team. I thought, wow, there is truly something special about this young man. Congratulations, "Magic Man" on your Hall Of Fame induction, and thank you for helping to bring two Stanley Cups to Hockeytown.
That Team was just illegal!!

Datsyuk!!!!!!! Detroit LOVES you!
Thank you Pavel, we in Detroit will never forget.
Always loved him
Class act as always.
Nothing but positives with having him around.
His knowledge will help anyone who listens to him!
DATSYUK IS BACK BABY!!
Audio guy earned his paycheck for this one.
His English has faded after eight years back in Russia. But so good to see him. They need to get 13 in the rafters. Not sure why they haven't already.
Good to see him in Detroit again.
This guy was such a big part of my childhood watching my Wings. Got a chance to see him live near the end of his time with us. Still got the picture!
Sign this man full time, RIGHT NOW. LONG LIVE THE MAGIC MAN!
The talent, the domination, the humbleness, everything about him is just truly amazing and incredible. Congratulations on the HHOF induction Pavel!
Pavel Datsyuk is to hockey as Barry Sanders is to football.......... Unbelievable,
enjoyed watching them both
thankfully Pavel got the final reward, so fun to watch Sanders so sad he never got the final reward for all his amazingness
One of those very rare talents that "Literally" had you on the edge of your seat every time he stepped on the ice! Guys like that come around maybe once in a generation if your lucky. Congrats on the HOF induction, no one in HockeyTown is surprised by this huge honor!
Absolutely love this guy. Most entertaining hockey player I've ever seen.
Favorite Red Wing off all time.
We have to keep him in the organization in any capacity! He could definitely thrive as a coach/mentor
He is the best there is, the best there was...The best that there ever will be. Thank you Pavel for all the great hockey highlights over your career.
"Was it nice to see Niklas Kronwall again?"
"WHOO!??"
Fucking. Legend.
It's a tragedy no one laughed at that. His humor is on par still lol
And then he did the same when they mentioned Zetterberg which is even less believable of a person for him to forget! lol
Who doesn't love this guy right here!!!
Pavel had the greatest puck-handling skills. He was amazing to watch.
No one will ever forget you Pavel. Bro was & probably still is a magician with the puck. ❤️🤍❤️🤍
#13 To The Rafters!
🏒🥅🐙👍
Datsyuk and Zetterberg will always be my favorite duo, hopefully Z gets his HOF soon too
So great to see that legend back in Detroit even if it is for a short time. I wish he was immortal in that he could play forever. I am so privileged to have seen him play live.
Lucky enough to see the Russian 5 play live and watching him was like watching the entire line. Sick moves
@@ryanreeves8931 I used to joke about that all the time! lol first we had the Russian 5 then we had the Russian.
Fucking love you Pasha. Thank you for all the joy you have brought to my life simply by playing a game with such high skill, for being a Red Wing, and for coming back to help the next generation of Wings! GO WINGS GO!
#13 is a Legend. ❤
The Magic Man!!
Magic man.. may go down as the best puck handler to ever play.
God Bless Pavel Datsyuk! LGRW 🐙 🏒 🤘
Could see him getting more involved in player development and scouting in Europe for the wings
We might draft more Russians when we have Pavel there
Please don't tease me it would be a dream come true.
He straight up said he wanted to spend time with his family. It's hilarious that y'all think he's just committed his soul to hockey for the rest of his life 😂
His english has gotten significantly better. I can actually understand his interviews now lol
Style and grace
Bro HIRE HIM!! Salaried position, he deserves it and he is invaluable and just his greatness alone would rub off on the players.
Love that guy
So nice see that winged wheels on the Magic Man one more time.
So happy to see you back with the Wings, Pavel!! Grew up (born 94) watching you play and it makes me happy to see you back. Detroit missed you!
Most exciting player to watch in hockey!
The Magic Man, forever a legend and glad to see him back in the city!
Datsyuk and zetterberg could still play.
Still making magic in the hockey world...

I was at that game in Nashville

#13 and #40 need to go up in the rafters game 1 at LCA asap
40 won unfortunately, he didn't do enough Pav has Idk what the wait is?
Even at almost 46, he would still put up 65+ points next season I have zero doubts. Imagine him with Kaner 🤯
Love you Pavel!
Also yay we got some decent mics for the reporters.
All of the mics sound horrible - Pavel sounds muted
I got to be alive for Barry Sanders and Pavel Datsyuk. Whoa
Thank goodness the mics were sorted for this.
Ruined a genuinely great, heart-warming moment. It stinks.
Yeah!!!!!!!!
