great video! and .. sweet acoustic sweep!!
The Stomp isn’t 100% exact but it CERTAINLY is nowhere near $4300 worth of difference🙄
I am obsessed with pedals, but good lord - we’re all just lunatics haha.
😂 that zoom pedal is like almost 10 years old by now, and it’s still a beast. I use it live a lot because it’s cheap and I can easily replace it
I have a G1 from 2006 or something, and it still sounds good.
Your videos are great. This was yet another one. thank you.
Thank you, sir!
Think the hardest thing to replicate is the response of the knobs "for some reason" Nice video!
Recorded sound - very close, for sure. For me the issue with digital is the feel in my hands and in the room - the experience just isn’t the same. But. I’m happy with my $150 analogue Klone - i prefer analogue but I’m not paying four figures for any pedal 😅
The real champ here is the Zoom MS50G
I think both digital versions sound a little bit more congested and not as open. However they do sound extremely close. Good job sir!
I was going to sell my Zoom, but this has persuaded me otherwise! Wow!! 😮
I think I prefer the sound of the zoom as I’m less into the sparkle that the Klon gives.. I’m a fan of the channel and all things QOTSA and midrange, so it makes sense! 😂
Great twist would have been that B was the real deal all along!
Thas Zoom MS50G is still great after many years... and not sure yet if the new MS50G+ will beat it.
Did you increase the input level in the global EQ settings of the stomp? Always seems to make things sound better for me
Nope
Yesterday I was trying the HX Stomp's Big Muffs. I could never get it to sound right. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a video on them. PLEASE!! :)
Big Muffs can sound so different from unit to unit, in my experience.
@@LivingroomGearDemos that’s a shame… I’m not able to test anything before I buy so good bye muff
So the Klon model in the 50g, for example, may not be able to match the real Centaur... but you get up to five more effects to stack, as well as the option to try other drive models (and even amps), to get you the rest of the way there. Of course, you also have the option of using the 50g as your entire rig.
I love seeing the Zoom stuff embarrass collector's gear. Thanks for the fun comparison!
It’s amazing isn’t it?! Plus it’s battery powered. I like using mine for the reverbs, or just as a quick, portable option when trying guitars at night/ through headphones at a guitar shop
Ive used klon, i wasnt convinced to buy one for me. Because i know a regular audience wont notice a boutique overdrive. Besides any od would sound on a boutique or very good whatever brand of amp available
I meant, would sound good
Whats the name of klon type overdrive on ms50g? Thanks
Centa Gold
Is it just me or is it just the zoom has more clarity over the Klon?!
🤷🏻♂️
lol, no
The digital pedal sounds just a little bit better
@@FFGG22E ‘better’ how?
If you can't hear a difference through a cellphone speaker, an audience will never be able to tell the difference in a full mix no matter how high-quality the sound system is.
Also -- I'm always infinitely impressed whenever I hear/see the Zoom MultiStomp. How's the build quality? Plastic switches and garbage jacks?
Build quality is ok, nothing special. But the user interface is the worst I've ever tried. It was just pure luck I was able to find the Klone inside it for this video.
@LivingroomGearDemos yes, I imagine the interface is terrible. I actually skimmed through the manual online once, and it looked crazy. It's amazing how much they can cram onto a microchip.
@@jonathanwapner6262 Interface is a steep hill to climb, but not terrible once you get used to it, though a bit slow to navigate for sure. Definitely a love it or hate it kind of thing, though. I'm firmly in the 'love it' camp, but 100% understand why people hate it.
The UI is ok, but you have to browse through all the effects of one category to find the specific one you're looking for. Once you get there it's pretty easy to tweak.
Nice comparison. The drives are the thing I don't use on the Zoom pedals, just not quite got the same harmonic richness to my ears. For me, the Wampler Tumnus is the right way to go to get the full harmonic richness of the analog Klon without splashing stupid money. I will only EVER sell that pedal if I decide to upgrade to the Deluxe with 3 band EQ.
3:59 a bit more brightness from HX stomp tone would have nailed it there
real klon centaur has more presence or headroom
Yeah, I think more treble might have helped a lot
sound the same still low gain
On my Samsung s22, the zoom sounded pretty nearly identical, but the real Klon was always a little bit sweeter and creamier sounding! Considering the price differences, excluding the real Klon... About $550 for the first one, and$80 to $130 for the zoom, which sounds WAY MORE REAL... Guess who wins??? 😸
10:10 … the difference there is super-obvious, to me … Should have done the same riff with the HX
Very slight and it sounds like a slight difference in EQ. That can be compensated for with EQ. Still not worth paying 5000$+ for the Klon.
@@endezeichengrimm Do you have a Klon?
@@kierenmoore3236I have the Tumnus Deluxe and the Soul food.
Not wasting money on a real Klon,
@@endezeichengrimm Those who’ve bought them, wish they’d bought 2+ … so hardly a ‘waste’ …
@@kierenmoore3236Mega waste of Money. The circuit can easily be reproduced and as you see here, sounds the same.
Shit maan. The HX sounds maybe a little bit better.
The klon is not "worth" 5k$ . Its a known known. Save for collecting, its worth about 80$ ...the price of a soul food.
How are we still talking about this?
